On 12th of this month, Thursday, at 10.00 AM, I saw the Tiatro “Sandlelim Fulam” written and directed by Lawry Travasso, at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, attended by the capacity crowd. This was the unique record created by Lawry Travasso in the recent history by staging this Tiatro on odd day of the week. This indicates the good image the director has created of his talent into the minds of the Tiatro goers. It also indicates the courage of the director in holding this Tiatro on the odd day of the week.
Lawry Travasso singing his solo
Like Portuguez poet Camoes, Lawry introduced innumerable proverbs and for that matter all beautiful proverbs in this Tiatro, also like the late Prem Kumar used to do to beautify his Tiatros.
Rosy Alvares singing her solo
The story pays great tributes to the priests for their enormous sacrificial work in the service of GOD and humanity. The small role of an old aged neglected priest played so appropriately by Lawry Travasso himself is worth admiring. The major and main role of a priest played by Tari deserved highest compliments even though he is a Hindu by religion. His way of walking, talking, Cassock wearing were superb. By playing this role so perfectly well he won the hearts of the entire audience.
A scene Tari and M.Menezes
Willy in his character role of the PA of MLA once again proved that he is capable of playing any given role with utmost perfection while Mario Menezes dazzled the audience by playing the role of corrupt MLA.
A scene: All 3 comedians seen
Lovely Antonette de Maina the main attraction of the Konkani Stage currently, played her roles as a young girl first and later on as a Nun very well. As a young girl she charmed the audience with her charming dress code. While seasoned Rosy Alvares played her role as an aged mother very well bringing tears not only in her eyes but even in the eyes of the audience. The sorrowful Canto she rendered was just a class by itself not only in the appropriate words but in the attractive serene delivery as well.
A quarter seen singing
The comedy part was handled well by the three ace comedians, namely John D’Silva, Bryan and Richard. The last named with his flexible body moves and acrobatic actions stole more show. His comedy is very impressive and he wins the hearts of the audience.
Ant. de Maina & Mario
In the side show songs many of the songs were based on religion and the persecution Christians are facing currently under the BJP rule. Peter de Arambol’s both the solos were very well rendered with perfect clarity while both the solos of Lawry Travasso were well accepted by the audience. The quarter of Francis de Tuem-Xavier Gomes-Marcus Vaz-Lawry Travasso was hugely applauded by the audience while Rosy Alvares rendered her solo beautifully. The duet of Tony de Ribandar and Antontte de Maina brought an extra flavour to the side show songs. Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes and Francis de Tuem rendered their solos well while the comedy duo of Bryan and Richard was fabulously applauded by the audience.
