Further to the latest news in the media in Goa that “Goa Forward Party draws up electoral battle plans”, I give my full support for GFP for its willingness to form a grand alliance with Congress Party in the coming election. This alliance is the need of the hour to defeat the BJP otherwise no individual party independently on its own strength is capable to dethrone BJP. If possible the wings of alliance should also spread further to engulf in its fold other regional like minded parties too.
Taking advantage of this offer of GFP, Congress Party should come forward for this alliance. The purpose of non-BJP parties like GFP and Congress is to grab power and this being the priority some sacrifices and adjustment must be done by the alliance partners to forge this alliance. The old thinking of Congress that it is in position to dictate its terms is no more relevant now in Goa. Congress Party must now change its thinking and agree for the alliance knowing well that fighting election on its own, independently is facing its doom. Hence, joining an alliance for Congress is the best method to save its skin.
Though it is difficult for the voters like me to forgive Congress for the sins it committed during its earlier tenure yet the same voters I am sure will support Congress only in alliance with other like minded parties, like GFP and that too only for the purpose of defeating BJP to save Goa from further disaster. The time demands some readjustment on our thinking and review of our move especially on Congress because Congress in alliance will be better than Congress independently. If we want to unseat BJP then this is going to be the only choice for us though for many among us it will be difficult to reconcile with Congress. This is going to be something better than nothing. Hence, my support for an ALLIANCE.
