On Sunday, the 27th of this month, at Mapusa starting at 3.40 PM, I saw the new Tiatro “Ghorcho Bhedi Bhailo Chor”, written and directed by the ace comedian Prince Jacob. The Tiatro was not a house – full attendancewise since some empty chairs were easily vissible. Since this is the inaugural Show and yet it was performed so well that it did not indicate anywhere in the Tiatro that it was the first Show. Every artiste performed so well indicating that this Tatro was staged in Mapusa after showing a dozen of its Shows all over Goa thereby gaining maturity in performng in this how. Every artiste played his role well but the artiste who gained more goodwill and extremely well impression of the audience was none other than the youngster Venesley hailing from the scenic village of Calangute dotted with the beautiful Beach known as Calangute Beach which is known as The Queen of Beaches in Goa. It even delighted the first Premier of India, Jawaharlal Nehru when he visited Goa for the first time somewhere in 1963. This youngster Venesley within such a short time after joining the Prince Jacob troupe acquired so much of maturity and confidence that it was proved when she was performing the major role of this Tiatro, that is of mentally deranged handicapped girl. I doubt any other artiste would perform so perfectly appropriate this role as she did. If anybody or any organization is keen to present an award for such a role then without any hesitation that award must go only to Venesley.
Singing their song are Sharon & Lourdes
Though this Tiatro was performed well by the artistes yet it lacked some element of full satisfaction of the audience because storywise it did not produce much of an excitemen. The main idea of the story indicates that the “Bhailo Chor” was involved in robbing not the money nor gold nor any other material wealth but something much more precious wealth which I don’t disclose what it is but rest on the Tiatro Mogui to see for themselves what that precious wealth is. Since this Tiatro is going to be staged all over Goa and elsewhere too, I refrain from opening out some important secrets of this Tiatro which as a matter of fact keeps the inquisitive audience on their toes.
Singing their political Trio are - Agnelo de Dabolim-George-Jonathan
The other artistes who performed their roles well were Michael Jude Gracias as that of the father of the handicapped girl and husband of Lourdes and as husband and wife both of them gave an extra colour to this Tiatro, however, especial mention must be made for the clarity of their expressions, they were flawless in their expressios; seasoned Jacinto proved once again that the role he played of Rikshaw driver in this Tiatro was very good so also the role played by Sharon as the sister of handicapped girl. The director Prince Jacob has done good move by roping her in his troupe before anybody could snatch her. She will be a very good ascetic artiste in the future.
Lourdes seen singing her solo
Comedywise, contrary to the expectation this Tiatro did not rise up to the expected level. Prince Jacob became Prince only because of his comedy roles he played first in the Tiatros of other directors followed by his comedy roles in his own Plays. In view of this, being an iconic comedian of the Konkani Stage, the Tiatro attendees expected much more than what he dished out to the audience. The new entrant of the female comedian Sharon proved to be right comedian having all the attributes of great comedian in the making. There is lot of room for improving the comedy to make this Tiatro a best Tiatro.
Seen in a romantic scene are Sharon & Jonathan
The beautiful scenic display of the Biblical incidents in the beginning looked very impressive. The musical part was at moments spoilng the beauty of the songs by playing loudly because of which the audience was not getting proper listening of the words.
Scene in the above scene are Prince Jacob-Lourdes - Sharon
The Side Show songs were good but not very impressive as it was proved when not a single song came for repeat though otherwise special mention must be made for the nice songs rendered by both the attractive ladies, namely Sharon and Lourdes, a highly politicl Trio by Agnelo de Daabolim- Jonathan – George, Agnelo de Dabolim excelled in singing the solos thereby indicating that he is one of the best solo singers on Konani Stage, he got good voice too to beautify his songs. The Trio rendered by Prince Jacob and his partners was good so too the beautiful solos rendered by Lourdes and comedy solo Boxer by Cedricks
Lourdes seen singing above most beautiful Canto
The one Canto which I liked the most was the one rendered by Lourdes with her melifluent and attractive voice that kept the audience totally glued to her voice. It was composed too very well. In fact it has all the fragrance of the best Cantos of the Minguel Rod. My compliments to the director for introducing such Cantos and to the singer too for singing so well withh full confidence. The opening song rendered by Venesley & Sharon was nice too but in the beginning itself they indicated their weakness of hesitating to start it.
In the last scene unfolding the real secret of "BHAILO CHOR"
Seen are:Venesley-Lourdes-George-Jonathan-Jude-Sharon.
As a whole this Tiatro is worth seeing and I congratulate Prince Jacob and his troupe.
