MUSICAL PROTEST IN TERAKOL AGAINST LEADING HOTELS CO.

A section of the crowd

As announced earlier, the Musical Protest was held in Terakol in the compound of Francis one of the stalwarts of the movement against the Leading Hotels Co.  Francis is also a Panch in the local Panchayat and a very motivating factor in the village to garner support of the locals against the Non-Goan Hoteliers who are all out not only to liquidate the locals from Terakol but also to liquidate the entire Terakol from the Map of Goa. Originally it was to be organized at the entrance of the Fort but due to incessant rain it was shifted to the place where it was finally held.

Dalvi seen speaking

Though it was scheduled at 3.00 PM but because of the rain it had to start at 4.00 PM with the attendance of around 500 Goans coming from all over Goa in Buses, Taxis, Private Cars and Two Wheelers.  All those who attended this Musical Protest Meet showed their concern for Goa in general and Terakol in particular even by braving the torrential rain.  Though I could not see any priest but surely I saw a few nuns attending this protest among others including many Hindus.

Another section of the crowd

The youth Sudeep Dalvi who was one of the stalwarts of this movement played a pivotal  role to organize this protest meet so successfully in the midst of stiff opposition from the Non-Goan Hoteliers.  The locals also played a major role in helping to organize this meet successfully. From their moves they looked very co-operative and supportive of this meet.
Mr. Buyao seen singing

The destructive method against Terakol by the Leading Hotels Co. in support of the current BJP government headed by Parsenkar is just a symptom of the Cancer that is going to be afflicted to the entire body, Goa.  Hence, it is imperative now only to eradicate this symptom by using soft method or hard method.  If this Terakol incident had to take place in any other State in India there would have been riots and murders but we in Goa following our “susegado” culture and decent tradition, we opted for soft and peaceful method of showing our concern thru Music. But how long we will remain soft and play music?

A poster describing greatness of late Domnick

Even Bible says that we have to arm ourselves to protect us from our enemies.  Our enemies are on all fronts to liquidate us not only from Goa but from this Planet itself and in this move the current BJP government of Parsenkar is doing everything what he can to help the non-Goans, Migrants and even Ghanttis to grab Goan land as it is done in Terakol.  In view of this, if Goans are real sons and daughters of Goan fathers then they will defeat the BJP government in the coming general election.  If not, Goa and Goans are going to be finished from this planet.  This is a very serious issue for which Goans must give very high importance.

Kennedy, Guitar in hand seen singing

Coming back to the protest meet, Dalwi welcomed the gathering and requested the gathering to observe one minute silence in memory of the late Domnick de Terakol.
Then he handed over the Baton to Siddanth Buyao to commence the musical protest meet where Buyao rendered a nice song in praise of Jesus Christ.  Then others followed including Zico, Parra Boys, Kennedy Afonso,  Fr. Bismark and Terakolkars  who rendered a very beautiful song describing the greatness of Terakol village, its plants and Trees, its River, its Air its soil and its beautiful Fort. It would be nice to record this song with musical accompaniment so that the message of Terakol goes farther and wider.

Parra Boys

The speeches rendered by Mahesh Naik, Fr. Bismark and Sameer Kelekar were excellent.  Mr. Kelekar made mockery of IIT Parrikar saying he is not the only man in Goa to hold that degree but “I am also holding similar degree studying in USA right up to PHD”.  He promised to contact the parent company Leading Hotels Co., in the West to complain about the damages their subsidiary is doing in Goa.
Saby seen singing

Fr. Bismark showed his fury how Leading Hotels Co. is damaging ecology and environment in Terakol and went further in quoting the letter “Laudato Si”  of the present Pope Francis against those who harm the ecology and environment.  Unfortunately, this letter is not still disclosed to the faithful by our Church for reason best known to the Archbishop Ferrao only.
Mr. Naik seen addressing the meet

Earlier in late fifties the then Pope John XXIII issued a somewhat similar letter known as “Encyclica Pacem In Terris” which was not released by all the Bishops but wherever it was released like Brazil and Portugal, it was released with many changes in order not to hurt the ruling governments in their countries.  That letter was pro-poor and in support of the people’s needs.  Since Church was in good books with the governments there, not to antagonize their governments, the Bishops there refrained from releasing that letter in its original form.

BEWARE CONGRESS IN GOA.

$

0

It is a hard fact that the BJP came to power in Goa only because of the weakness of Congress when Congressmen started looting Goans in all the sides. Though Congress is out of power in Goa yet again it is a hard fact that Congress alone is in a better position to defeat the ruling corrupt AND communal BJP government in the forthcoming election. However, in reality it looks very difficult for Congress to achieve this goal because Congress Party in Goa is still not strengthening its base to face the challenge from the BJP and independents.

Congress Party under the leadership of Luizinho Faleiro is still tottering by still clinging to the Old Guard and Defeated Candidates.  I am still using my Binocular to see the replacements for them and if I am not mistaken as it looks now, it is unlikely to get suitable replacements either. The talk of the formation of Third Front by the disgruntled political elements will be a distant dream and it will remain as such only because they are not politically heavyweights.

In view of this, Congress Party under Luizinho  Faleiro is surely going to face its doom once again in the next election. Congress Party at Goa and national level is lacking in sterling leadership qualities and both Luizinho  Faleiro and Rajiv Gandhi respectively are lacking in the charisma to woo the masses because they are not the men of the masses. Luizinho Faleiro is showing Hemletic attitude of being indecisive in disclosing that there is no place for the Old Guards and Defeated Candidates.

It is time now for Luizinho Faleiro to make his choice of good candidates of good character and not to impose on the voters the defeated candidates who are already known as corrupt.  I know at the last minute Crores will be paid by the corrupt candidates to purchase the Election Tickets but we as voters will teach a very good lesson to Congress Party yet again if we are not taken into confidence to select our candidates.

Regarding my constituency as I discussed with a number of voters, Luizinho Faleiro and his committee will have to select a right candidate if they want their choice to get our votes.  In the forthcoming election even one vote is essential for the victory, more so for the Congress Party.  For this reason on behalf of all my friends, colleagues and relatives and also on behalf of all the like minded voters I request Luizinho Faleiro to be very very careful while selecting the candidate to represent my constituency so that repetition of last defeat is avoided.

Menino de Bandar singing his solo

Today on Sunday,  26th of this month, I saw Menino de Bandar’s Tiaitro “SOCCORINA” in Panjim at Kala Academy Hall,  starting at 10.30 AM.  It was the first Show of the day, the remaining two Shows will be elsewhere.  This shows the popularity of this Tiatro and that of the director.  In the history of Tiatro,  as far as I know, the late J.P. Souzalin had the unique distinction of staging on one day at the same  hall,  three shows of his Tiatro at Bangwaddy in Bombay.  That was the might of Souzalin who was loved and admired by the Tiatro goers for his excellent Tiatros.  He excelled in staging religious Tiatros. May his soul rest in peace.

Evaristo de Arambol & his partner sings their duet

This Tiatro was first time staged by Menino de Bandar in 1984 and within a year he staged it 215  times and yet it is still going strong as audience come in full force to watch this Tiatro as it happened today at Panjim. The story is based on true happening and the writer director depicted it nicely as the audience was spell bound throughout the Show. Every artiste played his part well but special mention must go to the seasoned artiste Joe Rose for appropriately playing the role of the aged father, Maxie for playing the role of the son, Janice for playing the role of persecuted Soccorina, Angela for her role of cunning sister-in-law and  Teles for his role of a corrupt man.

A scene where Joe Rose is seen 2nd from left

This Tiatro was written in different fashion where most of the  statements are rhymed beautifully as J.P. Souzalin used to do earlier.  This was pleasure to listening.  Secondly, to give the taste of a genuine traditional Tiatro, every scene was inserted with one Canto.  Now a days the current Tiatrists are not doing this and thus killing the grandeur of traditional Tiatro.
The major part of the comedy was handled by Luis Bachan who was ably assisted  by his other colleagues.
Another scene

Though the Side Show songs lacked strength yet the songs rendered by Menino de Bandar (both solos), Saby de Divar’s political solo, duet of Evaristo de Arambol with his partner on the good work of Mother Teresa and a solo on Priests by Client were excellent.  When he first time started singing his solo Client suddenly gone blank and stopped his solo.  Immediately the director came and took him inside and offered apology to the audience saying this is due to some  sickness Client is suffering.
A scene where the body in coffin is seen

Such sickness in Kuwait I saw in three prominent Tiatrists namely Tony Cal, Agostinho Rebello and Sanny de Quepem who later on after specialized treatment for his brain in Kuwait got cured while Tony Cal was never cured but Rebello partially got cured.  All the three are dead now.  May their souls rest in peace.

BAHRATI "DADAGIRI" THRU DEFIANCE.

$

0

The entry of Bharat into my un-Bharati Goa was by force and thru “dadagiri” and the same  Bharati dadagiri is still going on over my Goa and if nothing can be done by the combined might of all genuine Goans to stop this Bharati dadagiri, then this Bharati dadagiri will go on till Goa is totally liquidated not only from  the World Map but also from this World.

When Premier Nehru’s Bharat under Congress ruled government at the Centre sent Bharati troop of about 20,000 soldiers to invade my Goa on 18thDecember 1961,  UN Security Council discussed this matter very seriously to stop invasion of Goa by a completely foreign power Bharat. However, when the Soviet Russian Veto defeated the motion in favour of invasion of Goa by Bharati dadagiri,  everything was lost not for Portugal but for Goa and Goans.  During the debate on the motion on this subject at the UN Security Council, Indian delegate to the Security Council, C.S. Jha  spoke thus:“(The invasion of Goa) is a question of getting rid of the last vestiges of colonialism in India. That is the matter of faith with us.  Whatever anyone may think,  Charter or no Charter, Council or no Council, that is our basic faith which we cannot afford to give up at any cost”.

In this statement of Jha at the Security Council there is nothing but a pure Bharati Dadagiri, dadagiri is of such a magnitude and arrogance that it surpasses all other previous dadagiris including that of Hitler. See the pride and defiance in this statement of Jha when he said “Charter or no Charter, Council or no Council……… “ but we will  go ahead in our mission of invading Goa.  He was not worried of the existence or even of break – up of UN which came into effect to create peace and avoid wars in this world.  But India’s stand was “UN go to hell, we want our goal to achieve by all means”.  Good that India is not wielding a Veto previllege otherwise India because of its arrogant mindset would create total disaster in this world.  Because of this mindset of India, civilized and matured nations are not agreeing to give Veto power to India since it is risky to do so as India is very immature and arrogant country having immature and arrogant leaders.

Later on when everything was finished and defiant India completed its illegal mission on Goa, the then Defence Minister of India, Krishna Menon remarked thus more defiantly by saying this,    “ Had the Security Council intervened, we would not have stopped the action (to take Goa by military force). We have learned some lessons….The nation that behaves well is  always in a bad position”.

If you analyse the above statement of Menon, you will see nothing but pure defiance for civilized and decent norms which is against Ghandian principle.  On top of it India adore Ghandiji as the father of the nation. Commenting on Indian invasion of Goa, the then US President  John F. Kennedy asked India thus: “where is your Ghandian non-violence gone now?”  Then further he said to India, “your action on Goa resembled a Pastor preaching all virtues to the faithful in the Church in the morning and in the evening seen coming out of the Brothel while putting the buttons of his pant”. But India till now remained shamelessly adamant.  Good that there is a strong force in the world against India’s hegemonic ambition otherwise India would grab all the neighbours as it did for some princely States  like Hyderabad in 1948 followed by Manipur and in 1975 the northern Protectorate of Sikkim besides  my beloved Goa in 1961 without consulting and without the approval of our elders. For this reason West is supporting Pakistan and China to keep a balance on India.

The dadagiri India used on Goa at the time of invasion of Goa, regretfully is the same type of dadagiri  imposed on Goa by the Indians from other parts of India.  See the incident in Terakol.  To subdue the local Goans, the Leading Hotels Co. hired the services of Bouncers from Karnataka and elsewhere to grab Terakol by brute force.  This trend will go on in other parts of Goa too because following its masters example on 19.12.61, disgraceful and rascal Indians by using their brute might, financial and physical, will swallow the entire Goa if we the genuine Goans are not alert for our rights.

INDIA IS EXPERT IN IMPOSINNG ITS  LEGITIMACY THRU DEFIANCE AND THRU ILLEGITIMACY.

Nikhat Zareen (Telengana) winner 54 Kg category. Also World Jr. Champion

Yesterday on Thursday, 30th of July, starting  at 4.00 pm, I attended the Women Boxing tournament conducted by Goa Boxing Association at Peddem Boxing Hall,  Mapusa. It was also attended by a good number of Boxing fans, the well-known Goan political personality Mrs. Victoria Fernandes affectionately called as Mummy was the Chief Guest. She was the   former   President   of   this association while  Mr. Rohan Kaunte the MLA is the current President.  The amount of love and respect she enjoyed in this association was reflected on the very affectionate gesture the members of this association shown by celebrating  her 80th Birthday by Birthday Cake Cutting and singing the song “Happy Birthday Mummy”.

Trophies and Medals for the contestants

It was a very touching gesture for the lady who served Goa for a long time.  Though she was not a Boxer herself physically yet  her fight during the Opinion Poll for the cause of Goa was surely like a fierce critical last round bout  that brought glory to Goa and Goans.  Besides she fought so many other bouts on political fields for the cause of Goa, Konkani language and other matters related to Goa.  A very good orator she is a very courageous woman of whose type Goa has not produced another and will not easily  produce in the future.

One of the bouts

The Chief organizer of the event Lenny D’Gama spared nothing to conclude the competition so successfully and that too to the satisfaction of every participant, every local official and those coming from beyond Goa borders and every attendee.  Mr.  Lenny D’Gama hailing from Saligao Bardez is a well – known figure in the field of Boxing and enjoying a good rapport and respect in the Boxing fraternity of India.  He also compeered the proceedings yesterday with his mellifluent tongue and with a very good boxing vocabulary. He is a great asset for the promotion of Boxing in Goa.

Another bouts

Besides Mr. Lenny D’Gama there were others also to support him like the Chief Coach Mr. E. Chiranjivi a very affable person and many more. Mr. Lenny D’Gama is one of the current vice-presidents of this association while Mr. Philip Dias is the other vice president.

Lenny D'Gama seen at right

Philip Dias a well-known personality from Calangute played a pivotal role in organizing this competition.  His public relations were excellent and he made every attendee at ease.

Goa group

The contestants in this contest were not only from Goa but also from other parts of India, namely  Delhi, Telengana and  Madya Pradesh.  Some of the young girls donned the Gloves for India and acquired laurels for them at global level.

Mummy cutting the birthday cake

While in Kuwait for a long period, I never missed any fight of Mohammed Ali, Joe Frazier, Jorge Foreman and other world renowned boxers.  I have unique distinction of reading every recognized book on Mohammed Ali including his own "The Greatest", so also watching video cassette of his every fight.  What a great Boxer he was!!  Will this planet produce another Boxer like him?  I doubt very much because such personalities come to this planet only once in centuries.  I was fortunate to see his every fight of course on TV.  In his retirement the popularity of Boxing globally is gone down and only a Boxer of his caliber can revive it.

Brazinho Soares
On 31st July 2015, I attended the programme “Meet the Artiste” at Tiatr Academy Goa, starting at 4.30 PM.  The artiste was none other than the renowned writer, playwright, singer, journalist and editor Mr. Brazinho Soares from St. Cruz,  Ilhas, Goa. He is one of the best Konkani writers in Roman script starting his writings first time in the form of a Poem in 1958.  Then he went further in writing articles for different newspapers and magazines based in Goa and Bombay and thru his writings he made a name and fame for him.  Afterwards he took up to Konkani Stage in acting, composing and writing and directing his own Plays where he gained lot of respect for him and for his writings.
Brazinho Soares during his younger days

A man of cool temperament, because of his writings he was honoured and felicitated by different organizations and conferred on him by the recognized organisations their prestigious awards.  He was conferred with State Cultural Award for Literature and Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Award by Goa Tiatr Academy, to name the two.
Brzinho Soares speaking at TAG auditorium

The function was attended by a good number of attendees indicating the love and respect he enjoyed in society.
Some years back he went to Kuwait where he was received by Kuwait Goans with love and affection and accorded a warm welcome.  During his short stay there he organized an Exhibition of his Books which was inaugurated by one of the popular ladies in Kuwait involved in social work, Mrs. Elvira D’Souza.

While delivering his speech, he disclosed his difficult past and how he came up in life.  He also acknowledged the help of his well wishers who helped him to reach where he is now.
TAG Librarian Assucena Souza e Carvalho

Before this function, I entered in the same apartment to have a look at the Library of TAG.  It was well maintained by the very experienced Goa and Konkani lover and hard working charismatic lady Assucena Souza E Carvalho who was recently presented with a commemorative Plaque by the outgoing TAG president Prince Jacob.  This it seems a customary procedure by the outgoing president.  Prince Jacob and Joe Rose both as president and vice-president respectively completed their 3 year term and in their places new faces will be appointed by the government.  Hope somebody good persons will come.

WISHNU WAGH ACTING LIKE A "VAGH" (TIGER).

$
0
0

The BJP MLA Wishnu Wagh on 31.07.15 acted like a real “Vag” not in the jungle but in the Goa Legislative Assembly during the debate on MOI grant as if Assembly is his father’s property and language issue is his mother’s monopoly. Rabindranath Tagore a strong proponent of mother tongue said: “One can reach into the sea of eternal understanding only thru one’s own mother tongue”.  I also support the primary education thru one’s own mother tongue but who am I to impose my will on Goan children?  It is the responsibility of their parents and guardians to choose what is good for them and not to the government, not to me and definitely not to Wishnu Wagh and Dawlikar. Their voices became audible only because they are in the Assembly but tomorrow when they are booted out in the coming election they will be Zeroes.  The grant government gives is not from its own pocket but from the pockets of the tax payers and as such government must abide by the decision of the tax payer parents.  By giving grant government is not doing any favour, it is only doing its duty and that is the job of the government.

The rallies organized on Friday, 31.07.15 by the interested persons is an outcome of the frustration of the parents over the delay government does in getting this proposal into an Act.  This is because people in Goa has lost their faith in government assurances because this government is known as the government  of U turns and government of the Liars.

Blaming the Priests and Diocesan Society by the government and persons like Parsenkar, Wagh and Dawlikar for pushing the students to take part in the rallies against government on MOI issue without concrete evidence is a Baby Talk and based on this, to issue juvenile type of threats is nonsense. It is with the support of the same Priests and Diocese that this BJP government came to power and they alone are in a position to defeat BJP and Wishnu Wagh in the coming election.  The electorate from St. Andre constituency will surely teach Wagh a very good lesson in the next election.

What is wrong if students took part in the rallies to fight for justice?  It is their responsibility also to raise their voice against injustice.  It is only thru their agitations that justice was meted out to the society. We must know that on the advice of Ghandiji the students boycotted classes and took active part in the agitation against the government.   Even Jayprakash Narain gave  clarion call to the students community in the same manner to fight against the injustice of Indira Ghandi.  The great Mathematician cum Philosopher Prof.  Betrand Russel openly asked his students to leave the class and go and fight against the onslaught of Hitler in the last World War.

Asking the students and also the teaching staff  to leave the classes in order to participate in the agitation against the “dadagiri” of the ruling  government is not wrong.  But   cheating the people by telling lies and by taking U turns is wrong.  For this reason, FORCE movement should be supported by every right thinking Goan and in the next election the paper Tigers and Lions must be thought a very good lesson for helping to impose dadagiri on the students community.
The Waghs and Dawlikars are giving a communal turn to the FORCE movement but they must know one thing very strongly that more people seen at Azad Maidan to support Hunger Striker Lopes were not Christians but Hindus, including Muslims.
In the matter of spreading education in Goa the work of the Church cannot be belittled.  It is in these Church Schools that Waghs and Dawlikars acquired their education like any Lopes, Fernandes and Desouza.  To construct these Diocesan Schools only the persons like Fernandes and Desouzas gave their donations while all the Barking Dogs against the Priests and Diocesan Schools  enjoyed the benefits of the Diocesan Schools without their contribution. Shameless are these Pimps.

NEW TIATRO "MAIM-PAIK AZILANT DOVORAT"
BY TONY DIAS.

Nice scene where 2 bulls are shown

Yesterday, on 5thof this month, at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, I saw the new Tiatro “Maim-Paik Azilan Dovorat”, written and directed by Tony Dias, at 7.45 which was attended by a fairly large number of people though it was not a full house as many Seats were empty.
When earlier the ticket fare for this Tiatro was declared as Rs. 200/- a piece with the excuse that the director has to recover the heavy cost of the Scenes introduced in the Tiatro, my normal interest in this Tiatro doubled.  Hence, I went to see this Tiatro expecting something extra ordinary.  Though the rate of the ticket was returned to the normal fare of Rs. 100/- but the scenes were not something more extra ordinary like what the late Prem Kumar was doing or J.P.Souzalin or Saib Rocha.

Minimario singing one of his solo

Currently there is not a single director among us who can out beat or compete with the Scenes of Prem Kumar yet Tony Dias did something which has to be applauded and I do applaud. The first scene where two bulls are shown there is lot of interest as it looks like original.  Prem Kumar in late sixties in his masterpiece Tiatro “Vavraddi” introduced 2 Bulls that were used to plough the field as it was shown on the stage.  It looked very genuine and very beautiful. Till now I have not seen such a beautiful scene as Prem Kumar did in his Tiatro Vavraddi.
The other beautiful scene Tony Dias introduced was the Railway scene which looked very appropriate.

Roshan sings her romantic solo

The Tiatro Maim-Paik Azilan Dovorat looked ending  in one direction but when you watched this Tiatro till the last scene, your expectations go wrong because the ending unexpectedly take the different  turn which was depicted beautifully by the director. Instead of keeping their parents in the Azilo during their old age as expected, the parents in this Tiatro shown are housed in the palatial house with all their belongings by all their sons.   This turn makes this Tiatro more interesting.

Seen in above scene is depiction of Railway

The major credit for the success of this Tiatro goes to the old father of the children and the husband of aged Irene.  All the four sons shown in the play did their roles well but Mini Mario and Franky deserve more appreciation.  Among the daughters-in-law, Roshan and Semenca  played their roles better. Lookwise they had edge over the other two.
One more scene

The comedy part nicely handled  by Sally is to be appreciated, he spoke  without screaming and thereby maintaining the original decency and traditionality of the Tiatro.  However, in the absence of Cantos in every scene as it used to be done in the original tradition of the Tiatro, the entire Tiatro looked half empty.  Introduction of one Canto only in the whole of the Play is too little.

Semenca Rebello seen singing the duet

In the Side-Show songs, the Tiatro did not rise up to the pedestal yet all those who rendered their solos, duets etc, they played their part well in this segment, especially Saby de Divar, Xavier Gomes, Roshan and Mini Mario in their solos while Peter-Roshan and Semenca – her partner rendered their duets well.

As a whole, this Tiatro is good and give some lesson to the audience.  Hence, it is worth watching.

TIATRO "OSLEO SUNO" BY TONY DE RIBANDAR.

On 11th of this month I saw the Tiatro “OSLEO SUNO” written and directed by Tony de Ribandar at Panjim Kala Academy Hall, starting at 3.15 pm.  It was attended by a good number of attendees but not a full house. The story was well written and every artiste played his role well.

Antonette de Maina & Roma seen singing their song

The story  revolves around the discipline of the daughters-in-law whose roles were enacted by Roma and Rosy Alvares while Mario Menezes and Tari played the roles of their husbands.  Tari as usual with his handsome image and physically in good shape as an actor  with his perfect clarity of his expression,  played his part very accurately.  But Anil Pednecar playing the destructive role of the son-in-law stole the whole show. He has unique quality in playing such roles.  His role was the talk of the evening at Kala Academy after the Show.  The other artiste who deserves mention is  Pascoal Rodrigues whose role of an aged father was excellent.

Lawry Travasso singing on desecration of the image of Christ

The introductory scene was very well done when the director introduced all the artistes to the audience.
A scene where newly Wedded couples are seen

In the comedy part Sally stole the show as he maintained the edge over others.  He does his comedy role in a traditional way by not screaming and shouting loudly as it is done in  Khell Tiatros.  The Tiatro system is much different from Khell Tiatro system.  Secondly the words like Sunneachea Kastacho is not appropriate to use in such a forum.  The director should note this folly.  Though she acts as a servant but in her dress code Joana looks like owner of the house.  This has to be corrected. The way she expresses herself it looks she is the madam of the house.  Servants do not act as masters.  Servant is a servant and as such her role should confine to her area only, she cannot overstep her area of functioning.

Pascoal Rodrigues seen singing his solo

In the Side Show songs, Francis de Tuem’s solo on Terakol problem deserved highest compliments as it was composed with scholarly research and deep study of the subject.  Such songs earlier were rendered by Alexinho de Candolim, Remy Colaco and M.Boyer.  Kudos to Francis de Tuem.  The other songs deserve mention here were of Lawry Travasso’s solo, Pascoal Rodrigues solo, Rosy Alvares’ duet with her partner, Xavier Gomes’ solo, Marcus Vaz'a solo and the song rendered by Antonette de Mana and Roma.

t
Rosy Alvares seen singing the duet

The Tiatro is worth watching as there is a lot to learn from this Tiatro both with regards to the story as well as with the songs. Hence, kudos to the director and all the artistes.

"BAILEK DUKH - KUMARIK SUKH"
 TIATRO BY CONCEPTION DE TUEM.

On 10th of this month, Monday, at 3.30 pm at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, I saw the new Tiatro ”Bailek Dukh – Kumarik Sukh”,  written and directed  by Conception de Tuem.  It was attended by a less number of attendees as hall was seen almost half empty.

Rons singing his solo

The story was well writtenbased on disrupted family life because of the unfaithful husband and it was enacted also well by all the artistes who took part in the play.  However, better credit goes to Jose who played the role of an unfaithful husband and Olga who played an excellent role of a dejected wife. She deserved highest compliments for rendering the last  Canto with her serene voice very beautifully.  By delivering this Canto so beautifully she exposed her yet another hidden talent.  Seasoned artiste Pascoal Rodrgiues played his role of a father very well and yet another seasoned artiste Chitra played her role as a mother very appropriately.

A scene.  Seen are Jane-Humbert-Jose-Sania

The comedy part was handled by Humbert and Luis Bachan and both of them managed  to do the justice to their roles.  They were ably supported in their roles by Jane (ex Kuwait).  However,  there was a small irritant in their comedy as it was sounded a bit vulgar at certain points when they released double meaning of their terminology.  Such terminology brings the standard of the Tiatro down.  Director has to be more careful in stopping such occurrences.

 Olga seen rendering her solo

The Side Show songs were not up the expected level though Olga’s solo on local political scene was excellent deserving highest compliments.  She is become now the darling of the audience thru her political solos. The solo rendered by Anil Pednecar on the importance of necessity of elderly people in the house was worth listening and emulating.  Earlier Remmy Colaco used to render such songs but now that Anil Pednecar following in the footsteps of Remy Colaco is an excellent sign. To compose such songs one requires lot of maturity and wisdom.  The other political solos rendered by the director Conception de Tuem and Saby de Divar were well applauded by the audience.  Ron’s solo on Tiatrists was very bold and powerful.  Pascoal Rodrigues solo was also liked by the audience.
Seen above are Jane & Humbrt

As a whole, the Tiatro was good and well accepted by the audience.

THE KONKANI THAT UNITED US IS DEVIDING US NOW?

The real push for the Konkani movement for its recognition started with the formation of “NOVEM GOEM” movement in late seventies when members of Novem Goem Pratishthan, a Trust formed to establish two Konkani Dailies in Goa, one Romi and the other Nagri,  travelled on foot all over Goa to ask donation for this project.  It took them about a month to complete this exercise.  The freedom fighter and Konknnivadi,  Gurunath Kelekar from Margao initiated this movement in co-operation with 7 prominent learned Trustees.   Their target was to start a Romi Daily when collection of one lakh of rupees is achieved and Nagri Daily when 5 lakhs are achieved. The task of initiating this move of Novem Goem in Kuwait was given to me and we Kuwaitcars got together and collected about 5 lakhs which amount was sent to NGP Trust  in Goa.

As in Goa, Kuwait too thru this movement, Goans joined together for the common goal and remained united by discarding all their minor differences. In this process the biggest achievement was the unity between Romi and Nagri proponents in particular and Goans in general.  Though there are a few Nagri Konknnivadis in Kuwait yet it was nice to see them joining hands with the Romivadis in Kuwait and thus creating a strong bond between the two segments.

Then in the name of Konkani came the formation of KPA to give final push for the recognition of Konkani and thru this KPA the greatest achievement came was the establishment of strong unity between the Romi and Nagri camps for the common goal.  It must be remembered that in the initial stages Nagrivadis in KPA pleaded with the Romivadis not to talk of the script at that point of time and at an appropriate time they will satisfy both the camps.  Though ultimately Romivadis were betrayed when Nagri Konknni was imposed on Goa as an official language yet Romivadis did not forcefully revolt over this betrayal thus maintaining the bond unexploded  between the two camps.

Now thru the latest imbroglio of MOI issue, not only the propagandists of anti-English education at primary level but even the anti-Romi Konknnivadis joined together to let lose their ire against Romivadis, Church and its schools. Equating Church with FORCE is wrong, FORCE movement is organized by an independent body not attached to the Church.

In the name of Konkani we came together but now regretfully in the name of English we are devided.  It is a pity even after so many decades since English left from India,  we are still under the bondage of English and this bondage will never leave from India. In this whole episode the rift between Romivadis and Nagrivadis is widened.  Can anyone bridge this rift?

The very Nagrivadis with whom I associated to promote Konkani cause are acting like my enemies.  The very Nagrivadis who along with me received Lathis on our back from Rane’s policemen are keeping a distance from me because I am from Romi camp, they wanted my association then to support Konkani movement from Kuwait for the benefit of Nagri Konkani only?  No, for Romi too.  Because of Konkani we joined together and because of Konkani we are devided now?

CANDOLIM GRAMSABAH MEETING.

Candolim Panchayat held its Gramsabah Meeting on Sunday, 16th of this month in the morning starting at 11.00 while scheduled time was 10.30 AM. After my return to Goa it was a rare opportunity for me to witness such a meet which looked more like a Fish Market where there was no system nor was discipline, the Sarpanch was unable to maintain her control over the proceedings.  It looked she finds this job very hard and as time goes it will be more tedious. She was relying more on her colleague rather on her own knowledge.

Surprisingly, the defeated ex - MLA Agnelo Fernandes yet again allowed to occupy the seat at the dais along with all the elected representatives.  This contravenes the rule and how the Secretary and BDO representative kept their silence was a question mark.  Worst part was that this same Agnelo was participating in the deliberations by answering questions posed to the Chair as if he was a member of the elected body and a spokesman of the Panchayat.  Sarpanch brings him as a Chief Guest to distribute the prizes for the students and allows him to take law into his own hands.

Twice earlier he was humiliated by two citizens for occupying the seat at the dais and moreover the Sarpanch is acting like his Chamcha without any shame or respect for rule.  Agnelo must know that because of such arrogant acts he was defeated in the last election.  When he is not an elected member of Panchayat, he got no business nor right to act like the boss of the Panchayat.  Panchayat is not his property neither of the Sarpanch. He is not owning the Candolim Panchayat nor the Sarpanch owns.  Hence, the Sarpanch is hereby warned not to overstep her authority.  She must stop inviting only Agnelo  for distributing the prizes.  There is nobody other than Agnelo in the village?  Is it the monopoly of Agnelo only always to come as chief guest to distribute the prizes and thereby poke his nose as spokesman of the Panchayat?  This is the quality of Congressmen and because of this low quality, Congress lost the last election including Agnelo Fernandes which fate is again looming over him.

Mickey Fernandes was very vocal and he even reprimanded the Panchayat on many contentious issues including the illegal type of construction in Araddy where there is no indication on the under construction building of the required details saying it is legal.

On the Casino issue, the house objected to allow docking of Casinos at Aguada coast and also decided to take action on one Casino located at Dando on the land which according to Panchayat is running illegally. If this is illegally functioning then why Panchayat is sleeping from taking legal action?  Or is the owner of this Casino bribing the Panchayat?  By the way, is there any fixed amount of bribe to give to the Panchayat when submitting project papers for approvals? Can anyone enlighten me on this topic?  I see the moment you become a Panchayat member, you become a lakhpoti. Where these lakhs come from? Is it not thru taking bribes?

Regarding Garbage menace at Araddy, Sarpanch assured the House that it will be put into order within 6 months.

APPEALING GOA CHURCH TO HELP THE POOR.

A few years back when the then Bishop of Kuwait spotted a young Goan girl asking donation in the Church compound for the heart surgery of her poor neighbor in her village in Goa, costing 5 lakhs of rupees, the Kuwait Bishop asked her, “Can’t your Church in your locality do this job instead of doing in Kuwait?  Why can’t your Parish priest with the consent of your Bishop create a fund for the poor in your locality by devoting one Sunday’s collection every month for this purpose?”.

In my Church in Candolim, on an average every Sunday’s collection reaches to Rs. 40,000/- and common persons do not know finally where it goes and whose account and for what purpose.  It would be nice for the Church authorities to elaborate on this so that doubting Thomasses doubts are cleared.

According to Kuwait Bishop, Goa Church is very rich needing no donations from Kuwait and if needed Goa Church can collect any amount for the benefit of the poor thus preventing collection from Kuwait.

In view of this, I appeal to the Bishop of Goa to issue a Circular to all the Parish Priests in Goa to create a “Poor Persons Fund” in their parishes thru the contribution collected from the Sundays collection as mentioned above. By supporting the poor persons we will surely support the poor and ultimately we will serve the poor as advised by the present Pope Francis.

If in our parishes our parish priests can raise funds in lakhs of rupees from the faithful in the Church for the constructions of Our Lady of Fatima’s Grotto and Statue of St. Jose Vaz, why in the same manner our parish priests cannot collect fund for the benefit of the poor?  As it is many of our parish priests are going on pleasure trips to UK, FAR East and other places by spending money from whose pockets?  Can these same priests declare the source of the money they spend for their trips abroad?  And can the Bishop of Goa throw some light on this trips and funding?

USE CHURCH COLLECTION FOR POOR.

$

During my stay in Kuwait when I noticed there was no accountability of the money collections Church collected on Sundays, Fridays and any other Feast day, I was totally disappointed.  In Goa at least the amount collected is declared but in Kuwait nothing like this, nobody knows how much has been collected and where it is spent and for what purpose. The amount collected in Kuwait is very big.  But one thing I noticed there, the priests and Bishop live a very luxurious life using luxurious cars and changing the same very regularly against the instruction of the Pope. The Bishop can spend any amount for any purpose without getting consent of anyone.  There was no system as far as this money is concerned, at least it looked to me.  They spend for anything the Church collected money but not for the charity especially for the suffering domestics though the collection of domestics on Sundays is the highest among all. The persons like Cook, Driver, Buttler, Sankistao and others who used to count this money are according to one source became lakhpotis.  One Bishop there gave a clear instruction to these persons never to bring coins to him, only the notes.  That means, where to take the coins and into whose pockets to put? Answer is very clear,  Create the Judases. Judas was tempted to become Judas because as a Cashier he was given free hand to handle the apostles’ kitty.

Then I spoke to some of my close friends and colleagues and formed a group whose members refrained from giving their contribution to the Church thru collection box and instead the same amount we jointly collected by ourselves and started giving it to the poor people for their needs, especially to the suffering and persecuted maids. Though our charitable work in this way was small yet it served the purpose of many needy poor people in Kuwait not only from Goa and India but also from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Philippines. Since it was a charitable work done in a true Christian principle, we refrained from making a noise of this work.

In my village Candolim in this month from 13 to 15 there were two Feats, one of Boa Morte Saibinn on 13th and 14th while on 15th it was of Assumpta Saibinn.  According to the available information, during these three days the collection reached to around 4 lakhs of rupees.  Besides this, every week the total collection of our Church reaches to around 40 thousand rupees.

Now the question comes like this:  where does the Church collections finally go?  Into whose pockets?  Is it to Altinho Panjim to deposit in the Swiss Bank account or it goes into the pocket of the local priests? Many of the priests are known to go on foreign junket; some to meet their concubines while some with their concubines for pleasure trips abroad, as given to understand.  Is this the way for our clergy to spend recklessly the money collected in the Church from the faithful? Why up to now no single Church authority in Goa coming forward to allocate a certain amount for the poor in their villages?  And why not the Bishop of Goa taking a step forward towards this direction?  There are no poor in our community?  Or Goa Church is anti-poor?   Is our Bishop so numbed to the feelings of the poor and their needs?

It is time now for all the faithful in Goa to raise their voices in unison to enlighten the Bishop of Goa to act properly and to force him to instruct all the parish priests in Goa to create a "Poor Persons Fund", otherwise he should be dubbed as the enemy of the poor in Goa.  In this case he will be called anti-Pope who is the great supporter of poor.  The money collected in our Churches is the property of Goan Catholics and they should get benefit of it first.  Charity begins at home first.

Thru the enormous amount of contribution of faithful, the faithful are tempting the priests to act recklessly monetarily. There is no transparency of this money or accountability leading our Church leaders to act sinful with the help of this easy received money. It is thru this money we are tempting the Church leaders to commit sinful acts.  Hence, it is imperative now to refrain from contributing surplus money in the collection box.  Instead, everyone must do his own charity in his own way by avoiding putting anything in the collection box, as we used to do in Kuwait.

IS CANDOLIM A CURSED VILLAGE

$
0
0

Recently our Pe. Vigar while delivering his homily in the Church indicated his anguish over our village for not producing any single priest since last 39 years and lamented asking thus: “is  this village a cursed village?”

First of all, the first statement was wrong.  The last priest from Candolim was ordained on 21st December 1995, Fr. Lino Lopes,  a Salesian.

Regarding the word curse, I must say here that it is not the village that is cursed but some of the priests attached to the Candolim Church were cursed,  they were not creating atmosphere conducive to produce priests.  These priests were Satanic priests in the garb of priestly robes.  Candolim Church had the worst distinction of producing the Martin Luther of Goa in Pe. Alvito Vaz who established the independent Church of Cuncolim to support the casteists of Cuncolim who were known to dig the graves of the low caste Cuncolkar and put the dead bodies out of the cemetery.

Candolim Church got another worst distinction of producing two Judases who sold Candolim Church for a certain period of time to Amitabh Bachan to film a Hindi Film allegedly with a vulgar pose inside the Church, these Judases were Fr. Santimano and his the then assistant Fr. Cipriano. The former is dead I heard but the latter is still around in my neighbourhood doing the job of Pe. Vigar.

A century and half back the remains of one non-Bamonn Candoikar who was buried in the Candolim Cemetry,  were installed in the wall at the entrance of the Church, inside right side when entering the Church thru the main door. When one old feudal lady of Pinto family next to the present Bosio Hospital, got this news, very philosophically and also sarcastically  she asked all the Bamonn who were instrumental in preserving the remains of the commoner coming from one ordinary family known as Kanpinn, “KITEM KELEM RE TUMI, KANPINNICHEA PUTAK IGROZ VIKLI MURE?”.  Listening to this comment from the old lady of famous Pinto family, the Bamonn from Candolim realized their folly.  To undo this mistake, they secretly met the Pe. Vigar who was also a Bamonn and told him on one particular night during the rainy days to keep the main door of the Church partially open so that they come with Pickaxes, remove the bones and throw the same out into the field filled with water. As planned they did their job without anybody’s notice.

Next day there was hue and cry; Portuguese security personnel came, investigated but found nobody as culprit.  They never doubted the Pe. Vigar but as a scapegoat, they arrested the Church “Pedo” whom they beat mercilessly to confess but they found him ultimately innocent.  I don’t think there existed any Pe. Vigar as wicked as  this from Candolim Church.

Just because Candolim village failed to produce a priest during the last so many years that does not mean the village is a cursed village.  On the other side, Candolim village had unique distinction to produce great and holy priests like Father and Son (Farias), such a priestly duo – father & son - never appeared anywhere else on this planet in the history of Catholicism.  The other great priest from Candolim were the makers of Pintos revolution.  Still other great priest of Candolim was Pe. Chico Monteiro who shook India by fighting his case on the invasion of Goa by India.  Special lawyer came from London deputed by Queen Elizabeth to fight for him in the court at Panjim in mid sixties.  To fight for justice with Indian government was his pastoral duty and he fought bravely while others caved in.  Besides there were other priests from Candolim who made Candolim proud, they were Pe. Estanislaus, Pe. Antonette, Pe. Romanos the founder of St. Theresa High School who later on doled it to the Candolim Church and some more.

Parents and schools are also responsible to create priestly vocations in their villages apart from the priests attached to the local parishes.  But they have no time to devote for this job. Parents are busy in making money and priests are busy after worldly affairs thereby giving a very bad image of the priesthood.  In such a situation, how there can be priestly vocations easily? And if you have in your Church a “Rostad” type of casteist Pe. Vigar who is arrogant, proud and money grabber, vocations will never come in our villages, let the concerned Pe. Vigars bark in the Churches as much as they can.  These barking Pe. Vigars are responsible to repel the priestly vocations from our villages.  The Pe. Vigars who are satanising the holy Altars by preaching curseful sermons will be responsible for bringing curses on our villages.

As per my informamation, very shortly a new Pe. Vigar will take charge of the Candolim Church; whoever he may be but for his smooth functioning he must be a very humble priest and not a proud one and a money conscious worldly priest. He should work hard to eradicate from Candolim the rampant concubinage going on where many of our Catholic females are become slaves of non-Christians. There are clashes among the members of Catholic community which should be sorted out amicably by the intervention of the “Gaumcho Pe. Vigar” instead of going to the court. The Pe. Vigar who is preaching from the Altar the “Zupattis” to the faithful is  unable to clean this rot.

The second point is to arrest the spread of Call Girls menace in Candolim which spoils the image of the local girls. The current local atmosphere is not conducive to produce priestly vocations easily because the Satan who dubbed Candolim village as the cursed village himself is a cursed one whose contribution in the promotion of priestly vocations is ZERO. He is fit only to give from the holy Altar Zupattis like a Tiatrist to the locals who are eagerly waiting for his exit.

INDIA DOES NOT DESERVE VETO POWER.

$
0
0

Recently there is a noise around the 4 corners of India saying India must get the permanent Seat in the Security Council of the United Nations Organisation along with the 5 permanent members wielding Veto Power.

First of all, the permanent seats for the 5 members in the Security Council were given because of their direct involvement in the last World War II and coming out as victors. To gain the victory they have suffered also too much while India as a sovereign nation was not directly involved in this war and India as an independent nation was not even born during this war.  Besides, the UN Charter was drafted in 1945 when India was still the colony of the Great Britain.

With lot of excuses, India feels it must get the veto power seat in the Security Council;  one of the excuses is that India is the most populous country in the world. This is a shallow excuse having no weight in favour of India.

Excuses or no excuses, according to my observation India does not deserve a permanent seat in the Security Council because India is an immature and arrogant country capable to use veto power parochially and recklessly with bias intention. India is not a decent country following decent norms.  India is a selfish country capable to act recklessly and arrogantly for its selfish ends because Indian leders and rulers are such.

On 17thDecember 1961 on the eve of invasion of Goa, during the debate in the UN Security Council on Goa when it was decided that India must withdraw its troops from Goa, India’s permanent representative to the UN Mr. Jah said somewhat like this, "go to hell with Security Council and UN, India must not care for this decision of withdrawal from Goa, India must complete its mission of invading Goa by force with the support of Russian veto".  Finally India in a pure "dadagiri", invaded Goa by using violence,  discarding its principle of Non-Violence thereby giving a solid kick on the back of the father of the nation, Ghandiji.  With the support of Russian Veto, India invaded Goa but if India acquires Veto power for itself then India would even venture to invade Pakistan also. For this reason Pakistan is strongly opposing giving Veto power to India because Pakistan knows India will misuse it against weaker nations. India and its leaders are not judicious in their assessment of the situation.

See what India did to Sikkim in 1975 when India swallowed Sikkim without caring for anything.  India claims to be the greatest democracy in the world but in reality India is purely a Hitlerian State ruled by Hitlers who will surely misuse given the veto power for its hegemonic ambitions. Not only this, India may even rent its Veto power for the  highest bidder,  so corrupt are Indian leaders.

See another example, following  the invasion of Kuwait almost the entire free and democratic world minus India, spoke in favour of democratic Kuwait by condemning Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein for invading Kuwait.  India had no guts to condemn this invasion because India itself was guilty of the sin of invasion with regards to Goa, Sikkim and other princely states. When such is the case, how India can be trusted to do justice to veto power?  Veto power is meant to be used very judiciously by the seasoned nations governed by the matured leaders. India is not having matured leaders of international reputation, Indian leaders are parochial leaders in thoughts and in actions.  When India is in the hands of such parochial leaders, having veto power in the hands of India is very dangerous. Hence, I say India does not deserve a Veto Power Seart in the Security Council.

DADAGIRI OF DELHI BABUS IN GOA.

After the independence of India, some Goan Freedom Fighters as per my information, went to Ghandiji asking his help to liberate Goa from Portugal.  Ghandiji asked them: “You want liberation from Portugal? Why?  Today you are ruled by the Portuguese but tomorrow if you get liberation then I am afraid you may be ruled by the Delhi Portuguese”.  By reading the following article reproduced from Face Book and written by a Mapusa based Young Goan activist Sudeep Dalvi, you will get the confirmation of Ghandiji’s prophetic statement.

The person  who was acting like a dada with Goan Sudeep Dalvi was from Delhi having lot of money.  The way he acted at Nerul, it looked that he owned not only the  SOL DE GOA HOTEL  but he also owned the village Nerul and entire Goa.

We Goans have to take some corrective steps to stop the dadagiri of these Delhites  who are reminding me of the way Portuguese people were acting so arrogantly with Goans then.  It looked Goa is still ruled by the Salazar dictatorship. Earlier Portuguese bossed over us and now Delhiites. Is this bossism acceptable?  Surely not.

It is not only in Nerul but also elsewhere in Goa such incidents are happening because Delhiites are become too nasty.  We will have to form our Goan private troops to protect Goans and Goan interest.  Big Hoteliers are not interested in anything except in making money by any means, at moment even by doling female employees to the rich customers.

Goans should stop patronizing Hotels like SOL DE GOA.

Sudeep Dalvi‎.

August 28  ·

Last Saturday night I was present at a place called "SOL DE GOA" in Nerul along with a few friends.

I happened to meet by chance Gautam Hari Singhania, son of Vijaypat Singhania, the founder of JK group, who owns Raymond, JK Tyres and Cement and Kamasutra condom brands.

Perhaps had the man not been an offspring of his father, his introduction would not have been more than a yet another bum in the marketplace.

When we reached the place, the moron was completely drunk, perhaps also high on drugs, and was reaching all the guests and warning them, "You have f**king five minutes to leave my place."

As he did the same with to our group, I left the place and occupied the sofa in lobby, but the "Whodlya baapa chi aulad" was destined to come all the way to me and ask me "Who are you?"

Entire management, the team of bodyguards and chamchas sorrounded me as if I were a criminal out to bring harm to the scumbag, this when I had not even moved up from my seat.

"Let me reply to his question... It's his legitimate right to get an answer from me."

The manager literally begged, "Sir help us to handle the sit.....,

"What situation? I am an invited guest here.."

By then, the burden on earth was carried away by his entourage and I was left yelling at the managers and waiters. They wanted to push me away from his sight into the office room, but stopped short after hearing some konkani lyrics composed instantenously for them especially for the occasion.

Later I came to know that the son of rich dad had booked the entire hotel for himself. Apart from the incident that occurred with me, many of the hotels female staff, bartenders and room attenders were verbally and even physically, yes physically abused by him. They all were herded and locked in the office by the petrified management to save them from the wolf on the prowl.

That was the moment, standing out of the "Sol de Goa" when I remembered the story of a young girl called Jessica Lal from New Dehli who was shot in her forehead by one such whodlya baapachi aulad, just for refusing him a drink in a pub after the closure of bar.

Was I lucky that Gautam Singhania did not carry a pistol when he confronted me, or was he lucky for not being alone that moment?

After this, all the witnesses to the incident declined to corraborate my account, and upon their failure to do so, the so called mainstream print and electronic media too pulled behind it's legs, for what reasons anyone can guess better.

Till today, no single word of regret has come forward from the management of Sol de Goa.

High and mighty corporate tycoons of India, welcome to Goa.

We are ready with our pants down to get sodomized by you.

He w     He was a strong supporter of Konkani and worked hard to support Konkani movement in Goa.  He was always praising me and Kuwait Goans to help promotion of Konkani movement.  He even said that without Kuwait Goans’ support Konkani movement in Goa would not be successful. But now who think that way?  Our efforts and struggle for the promotion of Konkani is forgotten.  The very Konknnivadis who received our financial assistance are treating us in Goa as unknown people.  For those who are running the show of Konkani in Goa, they see the Goa based Konkani activists only while others from outside are dead issue.
