Under the patronage of Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa, today at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panjim, a function was held at 4.00 PM to honour some Goans with “KALA GAURAV PUROSKAR” in recognition of their excellence in  different fields of Art & Culture.

Totally there were 58 recipients, males and females, Hindus and Christians.  Among them was our friend and colleague for many years in Kuwait, Mr. Manuel Fernandes from St. Cruz, Goa.  He was earlier till his voluntary retirement from Kuwait a few years back, worked for the prestigious company M/s Boodai in Kuwait and simultaneously taking active part in social activities conducted by Goans in Kuwait.  One of the major activities was participating in Tiatros.  It is for Tiatro that Manuel got this Award “KALA GAURAV PUROSKAR” today in appreciation of his participating in Tiatro for a long time starting from 1958 first in his locality.

Though he never turned out to be a professional yet he acted with most of the top professionals mainly in Kuwait where he captured the hearts of the audience by playing very appropriately the role of a Priest.  It was the late Rosary Ferns who first inducted Manuel in his Tiatro in Kuwait and then the others.
It was nice on the part of Directorate of Art and Culture to confer this Award on Manuel Fernandes even though he was in Kuwait for such a long period but taking part in TIATRO.   Just as Manuel got this Award, I hope others also from Kuwait and elsewhere in the Gulf will  get  this honour.

On behalf of myself and all my Kuwait Goan colleagues and friends who associated with Manuel to promote his Tiatro  Art, I congratulate Manuel Fernandes for receiving such a prestigious award.  Well done Manuel.

TIATRO "STRIKE" BY AGOSTINHO TEMUDO.

                                                       Marcus Vaz sings his solo

Yesterday, 4th of this month, at 7.30 PM, I saw the new Tiatro “STRIKE”, at Kala Academy A/C Hall, written and directed by comedian Agostinho Temudo who is also the current President of Tiatro Academy of Goa.  It was well attended  by almost a full house attendees and it was also enacted well by all the members of the troupe. Special credit must surely go to Dola who played the role of the sick mother and wife;  her two sorrowful Cantos were of very high grade and she rendered the same also with her high grade sorrowful voice. As her husband the role played by the seasoned artiste Pradeep was admirable leaving no room for any defect.

Duet of Benny de Aldona and Dola

As usual Willy played his role well of a brother of the politician Juju who showed to the audience once again why he is one of the best artistes playing such roles. Other artistes also played their respective roles well and the direction given by Agostinho was well followed by all the artistes as seen from their performance.

One Scene

Comedy part was nicely handled by all the three ace comedians, namely Agostinho himself, Selvy and Jannet.
Seen in the scene above are Dola and Pradeep

The story of the Tiatro “Strike” is based on politics where due to the personal benefits for the local politician Strikes are organized thereby putting the innocent public into inconvenience due to Road Blocks and goondagiri of the strikers.  As leader of the strikers, Willy excelled in his role.  The end part was very well displayed where the sick woman finally dies because she was prevented to go to the Clinic by the Strike leaders.

Benny de Aldona singing his solo

A tragic scene where on the lap of Pradeep is dead Dola

Side Show Songs needed little more punch though it was not bad.  Marcus Vas rendered both his solos well so too Benny de Aldona with his beautiful voice.  His duet with attractive Dola was well accepted by the audience.  Comedian Selvy’s solo was good.

Yet another scene where Juju us seen 2nd from left

CONGRESS PAPRTY AND ITS APOLOGIES.

$

Commit a mistake first and then issue an apology, is the culture of Congress Party.  Indira Gandhi introduced the Emergency Rule in India in 1975 and when its effects became worst, Congress Party apologized.  Casinos in Goan waters were introduced by the Congress Party rule in Goa and when its results became negative on Goa, Congress Party under Luizinho Faleiro issued an apology and pleaded with Goans to forgive Congress Party and re-elect it.

One thing is certain, according to my observation, besides Congress no other political party in Goa or individual show any sign of shaking BJP in Goa.  Dethroning BJP from power in Goa is an imperative necessity otherwise BJP can even be like Nazi Party in Germany turning Parricar/Parsenkar into a Hitler and other hardcore fanatics into Dr. Goebbels, Goerings and Wilhemstrasses. Nazism is coming to Goa speedily because cunning BJP leadership in Goa is hell-bent to do this and overwhelming majority of Goans are helping BJP in this direction.

To challenge the brute might of BJP, Congress Party in Goa must start now only to fortify its base by promoting new faces to contest the coming election. In the recently concluded Civic Poll, in Fatorda, Vijay Sardesai has already shown the way how to win the Poll by fielding the new and young faces. Congress in Goa is still not showing any sign of discarding the old faces and bypassing the defeated candidates who are become a big liability on Congress Party because these defeated Congressmen are known to acquire enormous assets thru illicit means and corruption and yet Congress leadership in Goa is keeping its silence thus becoming a partner in the crime.

The Congress Party’s grave was dug by all the defeated candidates in the last election.  Since this is the case, how people will re-elect them?  People have lost their faith in them to do anything good for Goa.  They are interested in amassing wealth for them only.  It is their lobby that dethroned former Congress president John Fernandes from his chair. Otherwise, John Fernandes was doing his job just appropriately.

John Fernandes is the need of the hour for the revival of Congress hopes in the forthcoming election. Will any supporter of Congress vouch for my statements?

DEATH OF FR. BISMARK.

$

Fr. Bismark is no more, his dead body is already found but as of now there is no concrete evidence to prove the cause of his death though rumours said he was murdered by his enemies for whom he was opposing for destroying the environment of Goa.  If this is true then the life of activists in Goa will be in danger.  Hence, it is of paramount importance that all the Goa lover Goans to come under one banner to fight to get justice for this crime.  We cannot take things lying down.  Sudeep Dalvi and his band of energetic activists must spread its wings all over Goa and create a mass awakening to get justice for Fr. Bismark.

By liquidating Fr. Bismark if his enemies feel the voice of opposition is going to be silenced thus clearing their path to destroy environment of Goa then these enemies of Fr. Bismark are sadly mistaken.  On the contrary the enemies of Fr. Bismark will face opposition for their anti-Goan activities with greater fury than what they faced from Fr. Bismark. Only the time will give testimony to what I said and that time is not very far.

When the great Greek philosopher Socrates of ancient Greece was forced to die by the rulers of that time with the allegation that he was poisoning the minds of the youth, holding the cup of Hemlock in his right hand, remarked Socrates thus: “if by liquidating me you think you will have peace then you are sadly mistaken.  The very youth whom you are going to protect from following my philosophy will try to examine and probe the cause of my death and when they find out that what I was propagating was right then they will revolt against you with greater fury which you will never be able to control. In view of this, what I could not achieve during my life time, the youth will achieve after my death”

The same thing will happen in Goa in the aftermath of Fr. Bismark death. The whole of Goa will probe the cause of his death and once convinced they will release their anger on all those who are responsible for his death; this anger of entire Goa will be uncontrollable.

When I met him for the first time in Panjim during the musical protest on Tirakol, very humbly he approached me to know who I was.  Then I met him many times during our protest meetings in Tirakol and elsewhere. He was very affable and knowledgeable Goan whose absence we all Goa lover Goans will feel.  May his soul rest in peace.

MUSICAL PROTEST IN TUEM.

Yesterday,  8th November at 4.00 PM, a musical protest was held in Tuem village in front of the house of Amarnath  Naik.  This was in protest against the maltreatment given to Amarnath by the Goa government  and Chief Minister Parsenkar in  particular who even got Amarnath arrested for fighting for justice and rights.
Amarnath Naik with his wife

Amarnath Naik’s issue is burning issue in Goa today, he is stripped of his Mundkarial rights by the Parsenkar government in a very dictatorial manner even though I/IV Form entitles him all the rights and privileges of his dwelling place and area around his house.  In that area there were innumerable fruit bearing trees on which he was gaining his livelihood and maintaining his family.

His House
However, recently, under the direct order from Parsenkar as alleged, 442 such trees were mercilessly cut by the government machinery to make way for the construction of Parsenkar's Electronics City there in an area of 8000 sq. metres. This was agricultural land but thru his dadagiri Parsenkar converted into non-agricultural to construct his project without proper legal licenses, as it was given to understand.
Construction work in progress

This issue of Amarnath is an issue not only of Amarnath Naik but of all the tenants in Goa.  In view of this, this issue must be challenged by every tenant in Goa otherwise it will be like “AIZ MAKA- FALEAM TUKAM” due to which every tenant in Goa will become another Amarnath Naik because nobody can trust this government of BJP under Parsenkar.
The local Panch addressing the gathering
What this BJP government does is unbearable, even Salazar’s regime did not commit such atrocities during Portuguese time in Goa.  If Salazar regime was bad in Goa, BJP regime is worse in Goa.  Even Salazar’s dictatorship was worse, Parsenkar dictatorship is worst.  Who is better now?  Salazar or Parsenkar?  Which government is better now?  Portugues government or BJP government?
Cansaulim group singing

Because Portugues government was better Goans were treated with respect and dignity by the Portuguez government but this BJP government that claims to be the supporter of poor people is liquidating poor Goans like Amarnath Naik who is a poor Goan. And on top of it we call ourselves as liberated from Portugues rule.  We are not liberated but we are conquered people and because we are conquered we are treated like slaves as Parsenkar is doing.  For conquered people many facilities and rights are denied as Parsenkar is denying to Amarnath Naik.
Salcette group came by special Bus
It is time now for all the tenants in Goa to come to the rescue of Amarnath Naik by supporting him in his fight against BJP government’s dictatorship.
The musical protest was organized under the skippership of Sudeer Dalvi in which Kennedy Afonso, Zico, Cansaulim group and others took part. The absence of Fr. Bismark was greatly felt.  Though people came in buses even from Salcette but locals were less.

OUR PE. VIGAR DISGRACED CHRISTIANITY.

$

Is it right for any “Padri”to use the holy Altar to utter anti-Christian language?  This was done yesterday, Sunday 8thof this month in our Church by our Pe. Vigar while preaching his homily during the morning Mass. Releasing his Satanic anger on the 3 writers who write on him about his flaws, he said “tanchem padd poddtolem ani tanchem ghotton zatelem”. Is it the right terminology for a priest preaching the doctrine of Christ to use such an anti-Christian language?  Only the Satanic priests can use such a revengeful language from the holy Altar.  Christ did not ask punishment for his detractors nor cursed his enemies but the  Pe. Vigar went one step ahead of Christ and acted like a real Robinhood by ignoring his priestly obligation and using sinful language.

There is a saying in Konkani,”Kanvlleachea xirapani zanvaram morona”. Are Pe. Vigar,  tujea xirapani konnakuch kainch zavpachem na.  Devak zai tench zatelem. Te xirap tukanch lagtele ani te  lagpachea margar assa.  Na tor teach Altarar ravon Deva laguim bhogsonne mag. In your previous posting faithful there cursed you, opposed you and protested over your appointment there. According to the information, wherever you went you created discord among the parishioners, you destroyed the peace of the people everywhere you went.

Oh Pe. Vigar, you have no right to ask God’s punishment for any one even to your worst enemies.  As a Christian and moreover as a priest it is your duty to pray for those who you feel are writing against you.  And if they are writing then surely you merit it.  Who gave you the authority to ask punishment for others?  Your leader from Altinho for whom you send lakhs of rupees every month from the parishioners instead of utilizing the same for their own needs?  Surely Jesus Christ not given you this authority. You as a Christian priest cannot use the language of the doctrine of “eye for an eye and tooth for tooth”, this doctrine is not the doctrine of Christianity, it is the doctrine of ancient king of ancient Mesopotamia, King Hamurabi.

In our locality there are so many ill deeds going on, preach to rectify those ills.  There is so much of Sin going on like prostitution, Call Girls menace, Concubinage among Catholics, Non-Christians men living with Catholic females, looting of public by the local politicians and so many other sins committed by the Catholics.  Why can’t you delve on these un-Christian deeds committed by the Catholics of our locality? And mind you, the immorality and sinfulness among the Catholics in our locality increased only after you landed in there.  Great were all those your predecessors but not you. They were spiritually and morally more upright, they were not worldly and greedy after money.

Since you joined our  Church many of the faithful left Catholicism and embraced other denominations, many of them stopped coming to our  Church and instead started going to the neighbouring village Churches because they hate to see your anti-Christian face and dislike to listen to your un-Christian sermons.  You are a disgrace not only on our locality but also on the entire Catholic Church because you preach hate language which is against Christianity. Before you destroy our Church by preaching anti-Christian doctrine, Bishop Ferrao must uproot you and dump you to Altinho Panjim.

Second point you raised was that “these writers only talk and write but do not give anything to the Church”. This is a baby statement.  Can you prove it openly?  How you keep the track of all the donors and since when?  You are just a“kalcho porcho potto” in our midst and as such you know nothing about the history of our local Church.  Amche Igorjent tuje sarkele ailet kitle ani ghelet kitle”.

Senhor Bism, please take this priest to Altinho and teach him good discipline. He is a nuisance for us.

WHY GOA GOVT., CONGRESS & CHUURCH SILENT?

$

It is almost a week now since as alleged, Fr. Bismark was murdered and still there is no sign of any arrest of any suspect.  It is the duty of the BJP government to track the culprits and bring them to  justice otherwise BJP will have stiff time to convince the people of Goa to support BJP.  The issue of Fr. Bismark and the lethargic attitude of BJP government in arresting the murderers will surely create a very strong negative effect on BJP chances to get re-elected.

It is surprising till today there was total silence of the government of Goa on this murder of the great son of Goa protecting the mother earth and the environment of Goa.  Similarly there was total silence of the opposition Congress party, so too of the leadership of Goa Church.  Their silence on this murder is very disturbing making us to believe that they are all supporting directly or indirectly the liquidation of Fr. Bismark.

I have a feeling that if there is no extraordinary pressure on BJP government to solve this murder immediately then this issue will dilute and will as per the wishes of Goa government automatically die a slow death just as it happened to Cipriano Fernandes’ case where he was tortured to death in the police custody.  Since then this case is forgotten.

The life of writers and activists is become very dangerous;  some years back we know how one editor of local daily was assaulted because of  his bold pen.  Then we also know how one prominent lawyer activist in the city was assaulted by the goons for taking up issues of public concerns.  And now we saw how Fr. Bismark was liquidated by the elements who are eager to destroy Goa’s ecology.

It is now imperative for all the writers, journalists, activists and intellectuals to come under one banner and come on to the streets of Goa to force Goa government to solve the murder of Fr. Bismark.  We cannot ignore this issue unless we want the situation as ‘AIZ MAKA – FALEAM TUKA".

ASSAULT ON TIATROS.

$
0
0

This has reference to the disruption of Tiatro on 11th of this month at Margao when famous tiatrist Francis de Tuem was rendering his solo.

First of all I condemn those who went to attack the singer who by using all his democratic rights singing his song.  However, those who felt hurt by his song, by using civilized methods they could easily file a defamation suit against the singer. Francis de Tuem is not an ordinary artiste to merit such an ugly treatment, his fame as the best political singer is gone even beyond Goan and Konkani borders.

A year back when I returned from Kuwait for good, I was interviewed by the Google representative in India based in Bangalore, on Tiatros and the first question posed to me was this: “what you think of Francis de Tuem as a political singer” surprising me of being aware of his fame reaching even to the corridors of Google.

Tiatro basically is an art that challenges the brute might of any individual, government, community or caste.  It is a fight for justice against the brute might of the strongest over  the weakest.  The legendary tiatrist Minguel Rod played a major role in this battle from the tiatro stage by challenging the brute might of the landlords and  Brahmins and brought lot of changes in our society.

Kid Boxer, Trio Kings of Conception-Nelson-Anthony and William de Curtorim have been known as the best political singers of Konkani stage.  In order to express their genuine feelings they have suffered so much from the hands of governments and their opponents.  In late fifties in Bombay, Kid Boxer was arrested for singing a song which was considered as Pro-Portuguez and then deported to Goa because of which he lost his lucrative job at Central Railways.  After the invasion of Goa, again he was arrested in Goa and Bombay for singing songs which were considered as anti-Bharat.

Today our Goan society has made tremendous improvements only because of the Tiatros which proved to be corrective instruments and the Side Show songs played major role.  At political level what elected representatives failed to do, Tiatrists  did and Francis de Tuem played his part well in improving the character of many of our corrupt politicians.

PROTEST OVER MISHANDLING OF FR. BISMARK INVESTIGATION.

I strongly support the decision of holding by the GOA CITIZENS COMMITEE ,  A PEACEFULL BLACK FLAG RALLY, ON SATURDAY THE 21ST NOVEMBER 2015,AT3.30 PM AT FERRY POINT PANAJI.”.

As per the organisers of this Rally the attendees will have to bring their own Black Flags andPlacards demanding justice for Fr.  BISMARK DIAS, the dress code is Black/White.

I call upon all my likeminded friends and colleagues to participate in this Rally to force the BJP Goa government to give proper justice to Fr. Bismark.

I call upon all my villagers especially those who recently participated in the rally organized in our village under the leadership of “Gaumcho Pe. Vigar” to participate in this Rally on 21st. inst.,  at 3.30 PM and prove to everyone that they are for justice just as their village forefathers were, namely Pinto Revolutionaries (Priests) and Abade Faria.  They fought to liberate Goa from unjust colonisers and we now have to fight to get justice for Fr. Bismark.  It is our Christian duty in tune with the teachings of Christ to raise our voice against injustice just as we did recently in Candolim under the leadership of our Pe. Vigar.

Taking this opportunity, I call upon all my Gulf Goans especially the Kuwait Goans who always supported my campaign, to call their relatives and friends in Goa and tell them to participate in big number in this Rally on Saturday in Panjim, at 3.30 PM.  I am sure in tune with their tradition to support Goan causes for justice, they will act accordingly.

Additionally, I request the organisers of this Rally or any other group or individuals to organize a Black Flag Protest Demonstration in Old Goa durjng the Novenas and culminating on Feast Day, to draw the attention of the faithful coming there for the Novenas and Feast, against the leadership of Goa Church under Bishop Ferrao for his total silence on the murder of Fr. Bismark who was an activist just like St. Francis Xavier who besides serving God also served the human beings.

I also call upon the Musical Warrior Protesters under Sudeep Dalvi to demonstrate their protest during the forthcoming IFFI in Panjim to draw the attention of the people against this criminal government of siding with the criminals.  Let us mourn sorrowfully thru music while IFFI entertain the elite.

NEED UNITY OF ALL LIKE MINDED PARTIES AGAINST BJP.

$

This refers to the news item in Herald dated 20.11.15 under the caption “Congress decides to stay away from tainted politicians”.  Almost every Congressman is a tainted one and because of this they lost in the last election. However, if still some from this rank survived like Ranes, Digambar, Monsurate and others, it was only because of their personal rapport they built thru fair or unfair means, with their voters.  Otherwise, let Congress Party in Goa display its guts to deny them election tickets.  Congress Party is becomes a slave of these heavyweights.

If Congress Party wishes to maintain its presence in the Legislative Assembly then it must condescend from its old pride and align with the anti-BJP forces just as it did in Bihar.  Otherwise, not only Congress Party as a whole will extinguish from Goa but even its traces too will disappear from Goa.  Congress must support and align with the third front since individually it will fail because people in Goa hate Congress because Congressmen in the past looted Goa to amass wealth for them and their families.  The wealth of defeated Congressmen and Old guards will justify my statement.

The worst culprits in Congress Party are the defeated candidates who in no way should be re-nominated because people oppose them for this reason they were voted out by the voters in thelast election. In their places young and new faces should be promoted.

While this experiment is done, to support the unity of secular forces under one banner to fight the next election, Goa Church must also play its role to fortify this move.  Under BJP we saw how communalism and narrow parochialism is surfacing in Goa.  This has to be stopped by dethroning BJP thru alignment of all the likeminded anti-BJP forces.

TIATRO "TUZOI DIS IETOLO"& TUEM'S POLITICAL SONG.

$

On Monday 23rdof this month at 8.00 PM I saw the Tiatro “Tuzoi Dis Ietolo” written and directed by Roseferns, this Tiatro was staged in Candolim at St. Therese’s High School compound in aid of the new Cemetery under construction adjacent to the existing old one. It is some time now that the Candolim Church authorities are collecting funds for this Cemetery but never had I heard from their mouth how much total amount is required and how much so far has been collected and how much more is required.  This information would be better for the parishioners to know the exact position of the collection.

Francis de Tuem

The Tiatro was attended by the capacity attendees mainly, first because of the Cemetery issue, secondly because of the name and fame of the writer/director and thirdly because of the political songster Francis de Tuem. I too saw this Tiatro because of the political song Francis de Tuem sings in this Tiatro and it was this song in Margso a few days back that made Mickey Pacheco’s supporters against all civilized decency  to create problem for this Tiatro.  It was in the beginning given to understand that this song is a piercing Zupatti on personal life of Micky Pacheco but after listening  this song now I realized that there is nothing personal in this song against Mickey Pacheco, it is all related to his political public life.

Comedians Richard and Neto

One thing we must bear in mind that if any person is shy of getting his public life and dirty private life exposed because of his misdeed then he should not involve  in public life.  When a person enters into the public life then his actions private and public go into the hands of public to debate and this is what Francis de Tuem did in his song of course without touching Pacheco’s private life.  And for that matter he was right because for the betterment of society public from any platform must scrutinize the working of the public figures.  Otherwise, the public figures will destroy the peace of the society and Mickey Pacheco is not less.  Public figures should be the role model for others to follow. What role model public figures will be if they are bad?
Antonette de Maina and Cleto
Mickey Pacheco committed the greatest crime by Slapping the government servant.  He cannot raise his hand on anybody, he  is not a last Century Bhattkar of Goa to treat the Mundkar in this cruel and inhuman manner.  Just because he was a Minister he got no right to touch even the hair of a citizen. Our present day politicians and ministers once they are in power they start acting like Emperor Neros as if they are omnipotent in this world.  Who act in this crude manner?  Only the third class coming from third class family background without having basic discipline at home.  Since majority of our politicians are coming from Hoi-Polloi background, they tend to act like artificial Kings and Sheikhs taking laws into their hands.  It is not Francis de Tuem only but all other Tiatrists and Padris should raise their voices against the short term artificial dadagiri of our politicians.
Rose Ferns
Mickey Pacheco declared that he will field all the candidates in all the constituencies on behalf of his party but I tell Mickey Pacheco before entering in our constituency asking for votes for his party candidate he must openly apologize for slapping the public servant.  Yesterday it was for him and today and tomorrow he will Slap anyone.  Citizens of Goa are not his slaves nor servants.
A few years back Mickey Pacheco came to Kuwait as Chief Guest for one Tiatro where he presented a gift to Francis de Tuem by expressing eulogy of Francis de Tuem but now the situation is changed because of the time factor. If we want to purify the dirty character of our corrupt politicians, not only Francis de Tuem but everyone of us must raise our voice openly against these corrupt and dirty politicians who are looting the public and raping the females on the strength of their political power. At least Francis de Tuem used Stage to fight the corrupt Goan politicians but Kid Boxer is on record to fight the corrupt Indian government though he had to suffer the consequences of his tirade against Indian government.  If one is not ready to face the consequences then one must not fight.

                                               Roma -Roseferns - Cleto

Francis de Tuem as per my information has done good research and homework  with all the relevant documents from all the relevant authorities while composing his song and if anyone feels he is wrong then anybody can take Francis de Tuem to the task thru proper channel.  He is not hiding from Goa or from public view, he is not a coward.  He stays at Mapusa with his family behind Duler Football Stadium.

About the Tiatro “Tuzoi Dis Ietolo”, the main story is good and Ullas Tari as usual played a very good role opposite to equally very good Roma as husband and wife respectively.  The comedy part played by acrobatic Neto and Richard was good but its vulgar contents brought the level of this Tiatro low and with this low, the otherwise dignified status of the director also came low.

Though the Side Show songs was good but it lacked the normal crescendo.  Both the solos of Francis de Tuem were highly applauded by the audience, so too the comedy duo of Neto and Richard.  The solos of Tari, Rosario de Benaulim, Rose Ferns  and the trio of Roma-Antonette de Maina-Cleto were good.

HOW I WAS ARRESTED ON 21ST OF THIS MONTH.

$

On Saturday, 21st of this month, I went to Panjim to participate in the Rally to support the demand to get the real truth from the government of the cause of the death of activist priest, Fr. Bismark and who is really responsible for his death. At 3.00 PM I noticed a posse of Policemen, males and females in full uniforms with Lathis in their hands, standing against the parapet near the Ferry Jetty. At about 3.15 PM a few females with one male went there and stood against the parapet. One Policeman approached them telling to go from there otherwise they will be arrested. They moved from there and came to the opposite side and saw me talking to Kennedy Afonso who just reached there.

Within a few minutes the number of people swelled holding Black Flags and some wearing Black Headgears. Then at about 4.00 PM from the other side of the road opposite Ferry Jetty, people starting walking very peacefully to the Cross to Pray, to light Candles and to garland the Cross with Flowers. Somebody came with the Poster and a Banner of Fr. Bismark. While everything till now was going on smoothly and as media persons were clicking photos and video filming the movement that includes me too with a Camera in my hand, suddenly one Police Officer came and started shouting at the people to remove the Banner and Poster of Fr.Bismark, commanding to stop lighting Cndles to the Cross, snatching Black Flags from the hands of the people very roughly and even the Headgears.

While doing this the Policemen numbering over 50, did not show even human decency to the females proving that they treat their wives, sisters and mothers in a similar manner with rudeness. During this moment I noticed nothing but Salazar’s Raj in Goa, Hitler’s ruthlesness in these Policemen and Saddam Hussein’s anger. From their body language, expression and facial appearance I observed in them nothing but hatred for the people gathered there giving a communal touch to the whole episode.

Then these Policemen started pushing the gathered people into the waiting Police Buses, I saw three Buses, even females were pushed roughly. While I was clicking Photos, I saw one Policeman pointing his finger to me and directing another Policeman to catch me and push me into the Police Bus. Accordingly, the concerned Policeman came to me, put his hand around my neck. At this moment I politely asked him, “What?” He said go into the Bus and without any resistance I entered the Bus. From my Seat I expressed to the outside mediamen that “Salazar is still ruling Goa. There is no freedom in Goa, there is no democracy in Goa. That to say Goa is liberated is wrong, it is a fake liberation. Goa was not liberated on 19th December 1961 but conquered and as such Goans are treated like slaves”. Then our Bus started moving taking us to Anjuna Police Station.

After about 45 minutes we reached to our destination where in the Compound of Police Station we were let on our own. We were all standing listening to the speeches of some speakers among us, others were simply roaming in the Compound where the main Gate was kept open. Some people were freely moving out and after 45 minutes of simply waiting there, I too moved out and came on to the main road where I saw some of my friends waiting to see me. One of my friends then gave me a Scooter lift and dropped me to my place at Candolim.

Thus I got myself freed from the accidental arrest when I went there "with intentional court arrest".

“The Side-Show Songs” is an integral part of Tiatro and to give a good image of Tiatro, the Side-Show songs must be good though,  the script and display of the main Play may be very good.  People got the tendency to judge the quality of the Tiatro based on the quality of the Side-Show songs.  Though it was rather difficult for the Tiatrists to sing political songs during the Portuguese regime because of the rigid laws applicable against the singers and also because of the censorship existence then,  yet somehow or the other some Tiatrists rendered political songs and escaped from the jaws of the punishment because of the lenient Regidores as we had one in our village  and who was responsible to check this.  Portuguese government allowed all the freedom for Tiatrists to sing on anyone except against its presence in Goa. For this reason during those days many of the Tiatrists rendered “Zupattis” to the Bhattkars harassing Munddkars, Clergy for promoting casteism in the Chuch and even government servants doing injustice.

About a  century back when in Agacaim, the “Renders” stopped extracting Toddy in protest against the newly introduced tax on their business and when they were in protest period, one of their colleagues was shot dead while extracting the Toddy against the decision of the protesters. This news was first flashed in a loud voice from the Konkani Stage. However, the existing government of that time took a lenient view of this exposure though it did not like this exposure.

Again somewhere in 1959 at Ribandar Hospital when one  patient was undergoing an operation, suddenly the light went off disrupting the operation because of which the poor patient died.  Immediately then one Tiatrist rendered a very critical song against government apathy in supplying proper flow of electricity, the singer even named the Hospital director for being inefficient and responsible for the death of the patient. It was a big thing at that time to sing such a song on such a critical topic but Portuguese government did not do anything.

Kid Boxer and Trio Kings of Conception-Nelson-Anthony were the first Tiatrists immediately in the post 19.12.61 period to sing political songs in the same Tiatro at Mapsa, directly against the Bharat Serkar for givng Goans a bad taste of Bharati administration.   Kid Boxer in his song warned Bharati Serkar saying thus: “Tum,  (Goyant) bhitor sorlai chukon – Mortoloi sukon, dusreacho desh pochona;  Tum panpotti khatai ani poch’chu korun thuktai, lozui kaim dissona; Tum nestai fokot valo ani khatai fokot palo". While the Trio Kings tore the Bharati Serkar into pieces for creating scarcity in Goa and mess of Goa for which they held the irresponsible Nationalists responsible for the ills Goa.  All the four Tiatrists were immediately castigated by the government machinery existing then and Censorship for a brief period was first time  introduced In Goa under Indian rule.

The second time censorship introduced in Goa was somewhere at  the end of Bandodcar’s rule by his government to punish the Trio Kings who were doing greater job as Opposition from the Stage than all the 12 UGP MLA’s. Bandodcar was only afraid of their Trio songs otherwise he did not care for anyone in Goa even for the mighty Opposition UGP MLA’s.

After this, many tiatrists started singing political songs but up to now none matched the capacity of Kid Boxer because Kid Boxer was fighting his ideological battle against the government of the sovereign country Bharat by standing on its soil.   He was not only fighting but he was ready too to face the punishment for his actions and in fact actually  he faced the punishment and suffered.  Though he was called by his detractors as an enemy of Bharati Raj and pro-Portuguese but according to my observation he was Pro-Goan.

Goem Apoita: overseas Goans pitch in to build Goa

SHOAIB SHAIKH | NT
PANAJI

As a pilot project for acting upon the recently approved ‘Mhozo Gaum – Majem Goem’ scheme, the NRI commission will take up a healthcare centre project at Colva funded by the Colva United Centre in Kuwait.

The scheme aims for contributions from the Goans settled abroad and other parts of the country.
Giving details of the Colva project, NRI affairs director Ulhas Kamat recalled for ‘The Navhind Times’ that in 2012 Alexander Menino Fernandes hailing from Colva but now living in Kuwait along with Colva United Centre in Kuwait had approached the commission for a healthcare centre project at Colva with a contribution of around Rs 35 lakh.

“The commission will take forward the project as the first project under this new scheme,” he said.
Kamat said once the scheme is notified the commission would forward the proposal to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation to prepare an estimate plan for the modern healthcare centre as requested by the funders and subsequently the project would be taken up for execution.

Under the ‘Mhozo Gaum – Majem Goem’ scheme, NRGs will be able to contribute to the development of their villages and native places through the government agencies.

The scheme provides an opportunity to sons of the soil to get back to their roots by funding projects of public interest, which could help improve the living conditions in any panchayat or municipal area or government and government aided institutions.

NRI Affairs commissioner Dr Wilfred Mesquita said the department expects contributions from expatriates living in the Persian Gulf and other countries for Goa’s development.

Many Goans living abroad had expressed their desire to contribute and fund small and large projects but have been unable to do so, as we had not provided them with right opportunity. Now they will be able to fulfil their wishes, Dr Mesquita said.

Through the Mhozo Gaum – Majem Goem scheme contributions can be made either wholly or partly for development of infrastructure in a specific location or specific project at any location. The donations for any project can be financed by either an individual or jointly by donors. The funding of the project can be on two components – onetime construction cost or recurring operational cost over a fixed period of time. In July 2012, the NRI cell had mooted the scheme on the lines of a similar scheme by the Punjab government – ‘Mera Pind’.

But the state scheme did not take off due to technical problems.

When the commission had requested proposals in 2012 from local governing bodies, 23 village panchayats, including 10 from Quepem, six from Bicholim and one each from Sanguem, Ponda, Dharbandora, Tiswadi, Mormugao, Salcete and Canacona, had responded to the request. An NRI employed in the United Arab Emirates Felipe Oliveira earlier this year had expressed his desire to contribute to the development of Naroa in Tiswadi taluka.

While the ownership of the project will be with the government, the project could be named after the person of the choice of the contributor: it could be parents, relatives or any other person in whose name the individual or group wish the project be named.

“This will also develop a sense of belongingness towards the project for the person donating,” Dr Mesquita said.

A high-level committee headed by the NRI affairs commissioner will consider the proposals, and if found feasible, will forward the same to the nodal agency GSIDC, which will execute the project.
The NRI cell will execute a memorandum of understanding with the contributor, the executing agency and the end user – the panchayat or municipal area or government or government aided institution.

If any shortfall arises during the implementation of the project, the NRI cell will contribute from its budget to the maximum of 10 per cent of the total cost of the project.

A separate bank account will be opened by the NRI cell to receive contributions from the donors.
The project financed under the scheme will be audited through reputed and recognised companies of chartered accountants.

A monthly progress report of the project will be posted on the NRI commission’s website.

VASCO INTO SAMBHAJI?

By reading in the newspaper today 02.12.15 that the name of Vasco is abruptly became as Sambhaji, I was not surprised.  The name changing politics of important towns of Goa started in late sixties and early seventies by the then Chief Minister of Goa Dayananda Bandodcar.   The first victim was Panjim as it was changed into Pan(a)ji, the a in bracket is mute.  Then came the turn of Vasco which was changed to Sambahji to please Bandodcar’s big bosses from Maharastra.

The approval for Sambhaji was withheld by the concerned higher authorities and hence officially Vasco remained as Vasco only.  But suddenly today this name Sambhaji resurfaced which should be challenged.  When there was a move to introduce the name of Sambhaji in Goa, the politically famed Tiatrists Trio of Conception-Nelson-Anthony conducted an open trial of Bandocar from the Konkani Stage singing their very piercing Trio song which runs thus:

GHANVCHIM NAVAM BOLDOP SANG HIM KOSLIM KAMAJI

PONJE  ASLEM POI TEM KELEM PANAJI

VASCO ASLEM TEM SAMBHAJI, MARGAO KON ZANNA KONAJI

MAGUIR MAPSA URLAM POI TEM KORAT BAHUJI.

When Bandodar got the news of this Trio song he refrained from pursuing this Sambhaji further and thus officially this subject remained into limbo.

NEED OF UNIFIED EFFORTS FOR FR.BISMARK'S CAMPAIGN.

Who is the controller of the activities going on now all over Goa to ask justice for the alleged murder of Fr. Bismark?  Are these activities organized under the leadership of one individual or one group?  Or every group is responsible for its action?  I think for the smooth running of these activities there should be an apex body to control everything concerning the awakening to get justice for Fr. Bismark.

On 21stNovember, the Black Saturday incidents and ugly happenings would not have taken place if on that day the leadership was more visible from the beginning and the activities were organized more carefully taking into consideration the introduction of section 144.  Peaceful protesters when permitted to pray to the Cross located in Panjim near Ferry Jetty, there was no proper leadership to handle the Police dadagiri  leaving everything in everyone’s hand as “free for all”. There was no proper spokesman to talk gently to the brute police force. There was no proper guidance nor instruction for the protesters what to do and what not to.

On 30th November protest in front of Panjim Police Station, there were more policemen to maintain law and order than those expected to break the law because enough publicity was not done by the organisers. People also doubted the sincerity of the organisers because according to some people, in this group there are a few elements closer to the top leadership of BJP Goa and a few elements are trying to gain political advantage in the name of Fr. Bismark.

It is my request to all the individual leaders and groups too, to call one meeting to bring about cohesion among all and thus give an orgnised leadership to this movement which otherwise is creating an excellent awareness on Fr. Bismark issue  by putting heavy pressure on government as it is seen how government is  condescending and relenting.

There cannot be disparate  groups under disparate leaders for the same cause. Hence, persons as seen playing pivotal roles on this subject, namely Dalvi, Zico, Kennedy, Prajal, Hema and Adv. Jitin like statesmen must come under one umbrella to carry forward this movement with more vigour till our goal is acquired.

Though so many activities are conducted during the last one month but have the family members of Fr. Bismark taken into confidence by any one or they are kept into total darkness?  I feel while these activities are underway, why not we conduct an indefinite chain hunger strike in Panjim at Azad Maidan to draw the attention of all and keep this movement going till the satisfactory outcome?  I will also participate in this move as I did during the language agitation by specially coming from Kuwait.

Finally, to reach the message of our activities to all, there should be sufficient publicity and for doing this the organisers must spend money which can be collected thru contribution from few of us including me.  In this way the publicity may be carried out. The publicity should also reach to all over India and to outside world too.  When Pastor Steines was killed in Orissa, this news created uproar not only all over India but also all over the world but when Fr. Bismark was liquidated, this news failed to create noise as it was done for Pastor Steines.

PARRICAR'S POMPOUS BIRTHDAY.

On 3rd of this month while preaching his homily during the Holy Mass, one  priest said very rightly that the very person having hatred for Catholics in Goa and who wanted to liquidate the 3rdDecember public holiday was himself got liquidated from the land of “Goencho Saib” who dumped him outside Goa. Though his name was not mentioned but surely the priest was referring to Manohar Parricar as we all can guess.  At least according to me he was liquidated from Goa only but the real follower of Goencho Saib who was Cabinet colleague of Parricar was totally liquidated from this planet itself because as I feel, as a punishment of God for him for not opposing Parricar,  God thru His mighty power snatched him from this world before he could do more damage to the interest of his community that was expecting some support from him.
From this powerful dead politician I was expecting iron Spine to defend his community but to please his communal boss and to protect his political and money power, he refused to openly oppose his boss for removing the 3rdDecember holiday.

On next Sunday, Goa will be celebrating the 60th birthday of Manohar Parricar. While wishing him a Happy Birthday,  I object to the extravaganza and pomp associated with this event by spending money from the tax payers.  Otherwise let the organisers disclose the source of money to spendfor this birthday bash inthe name of Goans that means including me too.

I refuse to associate with such POMPOUS display by hiring guests from everywhere to show our gratitude to Parricar because Parricar does not deserve any gratitude from genuine secular Goans since he has cheated Goans of their innocent trust they posed in him. He took “U” turn with regards to every promise he made to Goans before the last election.  Additionally he turned aggressive against minorities who I am sure will teach his party in Goa a very good lesson in 2017.

TIATRO BHOGOS MHAKA.

Today at Kala Academy Panjim, at 1 0.30 am, I saw the Tiatro “BHOGOS MHAKA”, written and directed by Com. Domnick. Though it was not attended by the capacity crowd yet it was very well enacted being one of the best in this year and in this season too.

The story was very well written which is very educative especially for our young girls who are gullible to go after any boy without thinking of the outcome. It gives a very good lesson for our young girls. ... On the other side the story also gives a very good lesson for the widows how to protect themselves from the amorous approaches from the rich men who try to exploit the financial weakness of the widows.

At moment the story takes such a tragic turn that many in the audience started crying especially when the mother comes to know that her son does odd job to make money in the absence of his dead father. In this episode the role played by Precilla as mother and by Elly as son were worth admiring. They were the examples of past Tiatrists of which type we rarely see now. This is hidden talent which should be exposed more and more. The story ends with the murder of the loafer boy played nicely by Anil Pednecar who sexually assault the girl and whose brother kills the loafer boy and finally asks forgiveness saying “BHOGOS MHAKA”.

The comedy part was excellently performed by both the comedian brothers Domnick and Bachan. They both jointly produced peals of laughter in the hall. Their comedy was very philosophical and technical. With this comedy they satisfied the attendance.

The Side Show songs lacked the normally required push yet Olga, Ron, Leslie, Elly, both the comedian brothers and Anil rendered good songs, namely solos, duets, duos and trios. However, according to some in the audience, a few of these songs were rendered earlier in this same hall.

More interest went to the solo rendered by Ron who described the monopoly and also dadagiri of 5 unnamed Tiatrists who want to control the Tiatro industry. According to Ron this monopoly of 5 should be abolished.

TIME TO STOP DONATIONS TO THE RICH CHURCH.

$

One of the reasons for the killing of the late Fr. Bismark Dias was, as given to understand, his opposition to the selling of Vanxim Island by the Bishop House at Altinho, Panjim,  to the big builders and also because he was opposing the big builders lobby. This Island as informed, was gifted to the Goa Church by a “Bom Samaritan” but the Goa Bishop took the liberty to sell it.  Hence,  the problem leading to the death of Fr. Bismark.

Likewise, many Catholics in Goa, years ago, gifted their land to the local village Churches as a source of maintenance but gradually the Pe. Vigars of these Churches started selling cheaply this land known as “Confraria Land” to our opponents and non-Goans, many times many Pe. Vigars pocketing the money for their personal luxuries. It was a pity that this land belonging to the Catholics was finally sold by the money greedy Church leaders to the enemies of Catholics.

In view of this, I feel it is better to stop gifting of any land or property to the Church in Goa.  By gifting our land and property to the Church we are tempting the Church leaders to become money crazy and because of this craze for big money they opt to sell this land to the highest bidder and to our own enemies.  What matters to the Church is nothing but Money and Big Money to lead a luxuriously sinful life against the teachings of Pope Francis.

Goa Church is one of the wealthiest organizations in Goa because its followers are gifting the Church with enormous amount of money every week thru Sunday Collections.  In my mediocre village itself, every week about 40 thousand rupees are collected and ultimately where this amount goes?  Nobody knows because concerned persons are not transparent on this. If this amount is properly utilized for the improvement and development of the local needy faithful, there would be brightness on every face of every faithful especially the downtrodden needing no begging for anything from anyone. This does not mean that we should not support Church maintenance but not exorbitantly to the extent the Church becomes arrogant with feudal mentality.

In Kuwait, we a few Indian Catholics joined together and collected from our own pockets certain amount instead of giving the same to the Sunday and Friday Collections in the Church.  This amount thus collected by us every month we gave to the needy and suffering domestics to alleviate their sufferings.  This we did because Kuwait Church to a certain extent is numbed to the sufferings of the persecuted domestics  inspite of the huge amount of collection it gets which finally goes where? Nobody knows. It looks Bishop is the whole and sole of this money.

Goa Church is still not doing the job of Bom Samaritan.  It has under its possession vast land which can be used to build small houses for the poor Goan Catholics who are unable to purchase land at high prevailing rate.  Similarly on this land Church can start some small scale business ventures to provide employment to the needy Catholics because Church is a big Landord in Goa having big wealth which should be utilized for the benefit of Catholics. It is high time now for the Goa Church to come to the rescue of Catholics by helping them in whatever way it can.  If Goa Church fails its Catholics in Goa then Goan Catholics will disappear from Goan soil because it is the mission of our enemies to extinguish Goan Catholics from Goan soil.
