A SORROWFUL FAREWELL TO MY RRIEND ASSUMPTION AGUIAR.

It is with deep grief and sorrow I write this sorrowful piece on our friend the late Assumption   Aguiar from Divar, died on 5th of this month.  It was an unexpected death though we both of us were admittd in GMC together in the  same Ward a few months back for different sicknesses.

After him, besides me, Goa is yet to produce such a finest athlete who in 1965 at Don Boosco Ground in the All Goa Athletics Meet he won greatest laulerls of his athletics genius when he  won the individual championship by winning 3 first pleces in 100 mtrs, 200 mtrs., and 400 mtrs.  That was the first time  that some of the topmost athletes from Indian Millitary based in Goa were permitted to participate but our Goan young Aguiar, an student of Monte de Guirim, defeated every one of these top military personnel.

I was his greatest rival though in the above Meet I also participated as an student of St. Joseph’s High School Arpora but in Junior division while Aguiar was in senior division, winning myself all the three items as Aguiar won. Never we both of us competed against each other  in any race anywhere in Goa but running without him as my competitor I ran fastest 100 mtres creating a record for Goa.

He had a few offers from top Business Houses from Bombay as an athlete in which capacity he made his school very proud.

He was a good footballer too playing for one of the top Bardez teams known as “Mapusa Juniors” in mid sixties.

Though we were rivals on the sports field yet outside we were good friends and when I went to Kuwait in 1975,  having got the news of my coming to Kuwait, he came running to meet me as he was already there before me aand enquring about my needs.

In his death Goa has lost a great runner of which type we may not get another so soon.  How shall we keep his memory alive? Or he too will go down as another forgotten hero?
May his soul Rest In Peace and may God give courage to his wife and children and all other family members to bear this colossal LOSS.

CHAOS IN GOA.

There was lot of resentment on the action by Parricar of stripping Pandurang Madcaicar and Francis D’souza of  their ministerial portolios.  The nearest and the dearest of Madkaikar issued statement saying Parrikar kept everybody in darkness without giving any hint or indication that Madkaikar will be removed while Parricar said he took this drastic action on the advice of Delhi superiors who instructed Parrikar to remove both these ugly and  sickly Ministers from his Cabinet (AND KEEP THE MOST SICKLY UNWANTED MAN UNTOUCHED AT DELHI? WHAT  AN IRONY!!).

Earlier these sacked ministers and those who are now denied portfolios were saying that they will accept the decision of the party as disciplined soldiers of the party.  But when they got kicks on their backs they all shouted like wild animals  in the jungle.  Shameless people who for the sake of power will do anything, unprincipled people are they!!

It was expressed that constitutionally it is mandatory while taking such action to give some indications to the concerned ministers.  When Indira Ghandhi removed Morarjee Desai from her Union Cabinet, Morarjee Desai was kept in total darkness when he said after listening to the news bulletin in the early morning FIRST time that he was stripped of his Finance portfolio, “I was kept in total darkness about my dismissal by the Prime Minister Mrs. India Gandhi.  I came to know of this decision only thru All India Radio News Bulletin and it looked to me that she dropped me like a Potato dropped in the kitchen by the housewife”.

In view of this, Mrs. Madkaikar and her husband’s close confidantes should not talk against the method used by Parricar to terminate Madkaikar.  But what is surprising in this whole operation was the immediate reaction by Mrs. Madkaikar of jumping into the next election battleground. This is where we Indians and Goans fail in the practice of democratic system.  Though there Is no legal impediment for the close relatives of the outgoing representatives to prevent them from contesting the next election yet it becomes imperative practice on the part of the electorate to scrutinise the correctness of the decision of the close relatives to contest the next election.

Regarding the decision of Mrs. Madkaikar to contest the election in place of her now ailing husband who is paying the price of the sins he committed earlier, it looks to me by following such ways we are practicing not genuine democratic process but Monarchical or Sheikhdom where when the ruler abdicates his throne then his immediate successor occupies that empty throne even though the new person does not possess the proper knowledge and experience to handle the new post.  Just because he/she is the relative of that previous representative does not automatically qualify her/him to contest the election. This is nothing but the Chamchagiri where Indians are at their best and Goans are second to none.

Earlier, this type of Chamchagiri was made by those days Congressmen when they brought in Indira Gandhi in place of the then Premier Lal Bahadur Shashtri who died in Thaskent in the then Soviet Russia, to please Nehru’s followers when actually Indira Gandhi was not fit to be the Premier. She was not a true democrat and for this reason even Nehru disliked her.  Because of her dictatorial habits we in India are suffering even today.

Then see in Goa what a monumental Chamchagiri was done by the MG Party when they inducted Shashikala Kakodkar the most arrogant, the most proud and the most communal person and being the most anti-Christian daughter of the late equally anti-Christian Chief Minister of Goa, Dayananda Bandodcar who thought that there is Bahujan Samaz only in the Hindu community.  The most disgraceful Chief Minister of Goa who splitted Goa into two communal parts then and till now and till the end of the world we will suffer its effects.

Meantime, there is total chaos in Goa, nothing is moving smoothly, those who are occupying Ministerial berths they are least bothered of their obligations towards the good governance. They are not bothered because they have no responsibility towards their duties, they are most irresponsible people existing on this planet, they are interested in only amassing wealth for them and now since there is chaos everywhere it is better for them to rob not only the body of Goa but even the soul of Goa.

MISTAKE IN IDENTIFYING DEAD BODY IN THE MORGUE.

$

When the news of the body of Janu Gonsalves which was kept in the GMC Morgue found missing, I remember one somewhat similar incident taken place in Kuwait about 50 years back for a Goan man whose dead body was kept in the Morgue.

His name was Caridade but everyone called him as Caru Irmao who was working at Ahmadi Oil  Sector for KOC where in a blast a few people were killed while many others were injured, 2 of them were Caru Irmao from Goa and the other one a Dhobi from Uttar Pradesh.

When the relatives of Caru Irmao went to prepare and keep the body ready for the last rites at the Catholic Church followed by the  funeral at Shulaibiahat, by mistake instead of the body of Caru Irmao the relatives of Caru Irmao washed and dressed up the body of that Dhobi from Uttar Pradesh.  The body then was brought to the Church for the final rites and when all the rites were finished there then the body of that Dhobi taken to the Cemetery for burial. While  the priest was saying the last prayer at the grave, an Ambulance came with a big noise carrying the body of Caru Irmao wrapped in a bed sheet. Somebody in the Morgue noticed this goof and immediately took action but Caru Irmao’s body without any religious rite was buried wrapped in a bed sheet and Dhobi's body well dressed - up taken back to Morgue.

Why this incident has taken place in Kuwait?  In 1975 when my Uncle died in Kuwait, I went with the same persons to prepare and keep the body of my uncle ready with all the formalities. These both Goans were well-known to wash and dress up the dead bodies in that area. When we entered the Morgue, we encountered 2 shabbily dressed and with ugly looks, Morgue attendants, both low grade Egyptians who saw the official paper we brought from the Hospital and told us in Arabic to go inside and take whichever the body of our man. Both the persons with whom I came to take the body were heavily drunk because without drinks they cannot do this job. To handle the dead bodies it is not an easy task, you require solid courage.  Who shall give them this courage?  According to them it is only the drinks in which they took support.

So they both went inside in the cold room and brought one body which was covered from head to feet with white bed sheet.  But immediately I sensed some mistake from distance telling them this is surely a wrong body.  For this, one of them told me in Hitlerian manner “You just remain silent, you know nothing, you are still a kid”.  Then they brought the body below the shower and when the bed-sheet was removed, we all noticed that this body of one lady. Then we covered the same body with the bed-sheet and returned it to from where we brought and after proper checking we brought the body of my uncle for the necessary job before the burial.

TCP-ODP - VIJAY - LOBO.

This is in response to the latest  news  on “TCP nod for Calangute – Candolim ODP”.

By giving his approval  Mr. Vijay Sardesai once again proved how volatile he is to support  the wrong decisions which are rejected by the people.  By the way, what are the correct decisions one can expect from this “CHOR”, the  Fatorda MLA when he himself got to his current position by  committing a  “CHORI” of the trust of the people in general and his voters in particular who got him elected from Fatorda constituency?  By joining with BJP he has taken a very bad step thereby disgracing  of everything that he claims to have best in him.  In fact, there is nothing best in him other than his own selfish interest to amass wealth thru wrong methods and to put his supporters  like me who stood by him against all oppositions during the last election, in total shame.

For this traitor “ANYTHING CHALTA HAI” because he is behaving like a “Khapurlem” for whom it is said “KHAPURLEAK  KHUIM KULEI SARKE ANI THANAIM SARKIM”. To such an extent he has reached.  He is now acting like telling all his supporters and colleagues “TUMI BOSLET MOJEA XXXXXX, I will do whatever I want to do”.   This is the quality of this man.  I never knew this man coming from decent family and educational background would disgrace himself to such an extent.  I have a feeling that his downfall on the surface of the earth or below is very imminent.

Then my friend Michael Lobo once again proved how anti-people is  he when he himself being the MLA of Calangute-Candolim refused to listen to the cries of his own voters who got him elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly.  It is shocking to know that when people from Calangute-Candolim came onto the streets in big demonstration and held public meetings to hit into the head of Lobo to prevent him from supporting this ODP, he used his brute power to get it approved.  That means there is no respect for the voters who elected Lobo?

I don’t know how he will dare to approach us again to get him re-elected in the next general election. Mr. Lobo, it hurts me to tell you that you have turned into opposite to what nice man you were during your first term.  I am sure the little power you are wielding now is gone to your head making you deaf to the voices  of your voters when you know that people in your constituency deslike you because you are gone proud, arrogant and anti-Goan.  This thing is happening when a person who was nobody but suddenly becomes somebody politically, intoxicating him to dehumanise himself.  This is what it happened to you my friend Mike now and for this reason “TUM VORLENUI DHORONAI ANI SUPANUI DHORONAI”.

Meantime, THOSE groups in our localities campaigned hard to stop this ODP must carry on with their campaign even by approaching the judiciary and if necessary by declaring all who supported this move  of TCP as enemies of the Goans.

CANDOICARS BE ALERT !!

$

The gift of the soccer ground by Dr. Gustavo Monteiro to the Candolim Panchayat was the greatest act of sincere generosity any human being can commit now especially in the post 19.12.61 period of Goa when an average Goan in general and Candoicar mainly the settler in particular is become totally corrupt where he will do anything for acquiring money and more money.  This foot-ball ground was gifted by Dr Monteiro to Candolim Panchayat with the clear instruction  to the then Panchayat body to use it for the development and promotion of foot-ball among Candolim youth.

In this case, the Candolim boys will have to practice and play their foot-ball on this ground only which is located at the very strategic location.  The clear instruction given to the Candolim Panchayat then has to be followed strictly by all the Panchayat bodies without any reservation. And it is the duty of every genuine Candoicar to see to it that the given instructions are implemented by the current Panchayat body headed by the not deep rooted Candoicar whose knowledge of our village is limited. The genuine Candoicars must strongly oppose any wrong move of the non-Candoicar to act arrogant regarding the future of our foot-ball ground.  Otherwise there is every possibility for the non-Candoicar and non-Goan to become the Jean Walgean of Victor Hugo as depicted in Les Miserables.

According to the latest available information the Candolim foot-ball ground which  is currently under renovation is going to be leased out to one private party for many years and for Candolim youth to play foot-ball another ground is going to be built, it seems, and where it will be?  May be Ghanttar or in Karnataka. If this is true then the non-Goan  who is playing dirty tricks in our village himself being an outsider will have to pay a very heavy price.  Just because this non-Goan and non-Candoicar wielding official power in the village, he should not act arrogant.  He should not overstep his authority  and he should not underestimate the power of the Goan Candoicars.  And he should know one thing as Shakesphere said in Hamlet ‘there are more things in Heaven than what we dreamt”.

The present soccer ground of Candolim was initiated in mid fifties when Dr. Gustavo Monteiro was instrumental in getting it for Candolim youth from the Bishop of Goa in whose custody it was given by the nuns who acquired it to construct a convent/school for the girls. The Bishop at the time of giving this ground into the hands of Dr. Gustavo Monteiro was very clear to say that this ground is to be utilised for the benefit of the local boys only.

However, earlier, in the absence of permanent ground, temporarily our boys converted “Vellechem Xeth”, 5 minutes walk from Candolim Tinto, into a foot-ball ground.  Before that, at Murod opposite Candolim Church before the main road going to Nerul, a piece of Communidade Field was temporarily converted into a foot-ball ground where top teams from Goa at inter-village level used to play.  So much so, even the teams fielding some of the top “Pakle” players have played there.

Since I have my doubt, I ask openly the following questions to the authorities/persons concerned and expect their reply openly for the sake of transparency:

1.Estimated cost of the project.

2.Contract allotted for how much and from how many quotes?

3.Was the resolution taken in Graham Sabah for this project?

4.What is the source of finance?

WHAT IS THE TRUTH BEHIND KONKANI RECOGNITION IN NAGRI SCRIPT ONLY.

$

On 28.10.18 while speaking during the function “Meet the Artiste” organised to honour Premananda Lottlikar in Margao, Tomazinho Cardoso pleaded with Nagri Konknnivadis to help Romi Konkani get its due recognition from the government. In this context I like to ask all concerned that who approved the draft bill giving recognition only for Nagri script Konknni ignoring the Romi script when major movement was done by the Romivadis? Besides Tomazinho Cardoso there were other Romivadis in KPA that spearheaded the last phase of Konkani movement to get its recognition, why they remained silent and why not insisted the inclusion of Romi script also?  In fact what role these Romivadis played in favour of Romi script?  According to some Nagrivadis the draft of the bill was kept open for the eyes of Romivadis too but they did nothing.  Is it right?

Konkani is kept alive in Goa and among Goans mainly by the Romi script followers and denying Romi script its due recognition means robbing it of its due right.

Other sad part of this episode is this that now Konkanivadis in Goa are splitted into 2 factions totally divorced from each other and there is no much integration between the two as existed before. This split is very much vissible especially from some of the hard core Nagrivadis.  Even when I was so close to the Nagri camp whose members were begging with me to help them financially from Kuwait during the language agitation AND some of them flirting with me during my vacations like "Pamprelam", have side tracked me as if we are fighting an Indo-Pak war.
When we sent from Kuwait lakhs of rupees for Konkani movement in Goa including for KPA we feel defeated and cheated when Romi Konkani was denied due recognition. I feel at least I on behalf of Kuwait Goans who have done so much for the cause of Konkani should get an open answer from the concerned Nagrivadis.  There are many truths still remained hidden and our Romivadis are not fully prepared to give proper answer bcause they were I feel footballed by the Nagrivadis. May be they were treated like one eyed among the blinds fit for swim not in the ocean but only in the Pond.

It is time now for concerned Konkanivadis to throw some light on this issue.

DIRTY CHARACTER OF POLICEMEN.

$
0
0

According to the latest news in the media, 5 Policemen including one Police Sub-Ispector were suspended for brutally like the barbarians, assaulting one seafarer Clint Rebello from Cuncolim. Though many of the Goans does not believe this suspension is genuine or it was just a tamasha to create a good image of Goa Police. Since time immemorial the image of Goa police was always bad, during the Portuguese regime a Goan especially a Catholic joining the Police force means considering you are joining a brothel to act as a “Cheddi” because police men then were considered as “Chedio”. Even if you are not a Cheddi you are ultimately forced to become and act as one.   What I mean by a Cheddi here?  I mean not only a woman who doles her body for a certain amount of time and money but also when a man doles his services not only to his department but also to his superiors blindly with an infinite allegiance.

During the Portuguese time some of the Portuguese Pakles used our third class Policemen as Pimps since many of them fit to be Pimps only coming from indecent and uncultured family background and also without proper educational background too, to get them Prostitutes because during that period young boys seldom used to join Police force as in that sector there were lot of discriminations and above all there was not much credibility nor dignity.  For a upper level cultured Goan wearing Policeman’s Uniform means degrading his  dignity because even those very few Goans  who joined Police force were treated like slaves by their Portuguese superiors without much chance to rise in ranks.  Overwhelming majority of Catholics preferred to remain jobless rather than wear the Policeman’s uniform, so undignified and so disgraceful the job of a Polieman was then and even this trend was carried forward later on too. To a certain extent this trend is still prevalent among certain Goans who are against the Police job becase of the dirty character of many of the dirty Policemen.
The nature of the Policeman's job is so bad that even if he is good in character and discipline before joining the Police force, once he is engaged with Police Job he is not likely  to acquire all the bed habbits and attributes existing in the Police Departent. Normally the Policeman is very cruel and stone hearted and at moments he had to be one otherwise he cannot survive on his job, many times he is seually perverted because since he is wielding power he likes to exercise it against innocent and weak women who are their  victims as arrestees for committing some crimes, the Policean is a vulgar in his tongue because he acquires this habbit by conversing in filthy language to deal with filthy people whom they arrest for committing filthy crimes, the Policemen normally is known to be mixing up not with decent people but only with rubbish people, good and decent people do not normally keep them in close proximity, many times the Policeman is boud to be a big thief robbing money and other valuables from the robbers bag when he catches the robbers and  instead of handing  over to his drpartment all the goods and money from the robbers he keeps for him half or major part of the loot and declares only partially.  In this way he acquires immense wealth and becomes a crorepoti asily.  In fact a Policeman willi not be a policeman unless  he acquires all the bad habbits from Police departmet..

The disgraceful character of Goan Police force was clearly displayed in Cuncolim when an innocent Clint Rebello mercilessly manandled by the rascal policemen  and earlier at Fatorda Stadium when the most disgraceful policemen acted like goondas and as traitors without their Police uniforms betrayed the innocent trio of father- mother - son and manhandled them mercilessly even the mother without taking into consideration her female characterisitcs.  Are these Policemen really genuine Goan or are they bastaradised Goans the products of Salazar regime?  It looks to me they were the illegitimate leftover products of Salazar regime and because they are so they rejovuneted acts of Salazar regime, no, sorry, even in Salazar regime such inhuman acts were not committed by the then Agente Monteiros.

The Goan Policemen were commanded to do all the third class, dirty and cruel jobs. I was told by one Goan security personnel how while working under the deadly Agente Monteiro during Portuguese era, he was forced to commit deadly, dirty and disgraceful and cruel jobs.  Having no other choice, he said he surrendered to Agente’s diktat otherwise Agente MONTEIRO would shoot him dead and later on give an excuse that this Goan was working clandestinely for Goa’s Freedom movement and while implanting a Bomb I shot him dead.

Can Agente Monteiro alone  shoot an innocent man? Why not innocent man  a cruel policeman or a gang of cruel man? If such disturbing incidents  had to take place in occupied Jersalem or in Baluchistan or in the remote parts of Pakistan, the same Policemen who acted like crooks and hardened criminals would be shot dead not when they are in their Police Uniforms but when they are in their civilian clothes by directly and daringly confronting them by questioning them thus "the other day you assaulted me/us wthout sufficient reason, I had to bear all your cruelties because I had to respect your uniform.  But now you are in civilian clothes, can you do the same again now when I am giving you an excuses?  Come on now Mr.Policeman, Mr. Hawaldar and Mr. Inspector, if you have balls then show me your guts, you bloody rascal, you are a disgrace not only on Ploice Force, not only on Police department, not only on Government of Goa that employs you but you are a disgrace on human being because by acting thus you have brought disgrace on human being.

Moreover, if these incidents of Goa Police had to occur in some of the deadly South American countries, the affected laymen or their relatives or friends or wellwishers or people fighting forjustice against Police cruelties would kidnap the children or wives or sisters of those Policemen who acted brute with our Goan innocent persons.  I dont advise such harsh above mentioned remedies for those culprit Policemen, it is not my doctrine, i dont propose the doctrine of "eye for an eye and tooth for tooth", this was an archaic doctrine base on the Law of Hamurabi the ancint King of Mesopotamia but surely I propose the decent law of meeting with those cruel Policemen and asking them in a decent manner why they acted so cruelly.  if necessary even organise public meetings in the localities of these poliemen to put them into shame and also to their family members.

SAD DEATH OF EX PRESIDENT BUSH

$

It is with regret and  chagrin that I pen down these few lines to express my deep sorrow over the death of  ex President of USA the late Bush Sr. who died on 30.11.18 and who liberated Kuwait from the seven months of occupation by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Kuwait was invaded by Saddam Hussain on 02.08.1990. No doubt it was the combined efforts of 3 major countries England & France headed by USA and supported by around another 100 countries, the role of USA under President Bush was magnificent in grooming the coalition of so many countries to uproot Saddam Hussein from Kuwait.

Margareth Tatcher the British premier was responsible to push Bush to form the coalition to liberate Kuwait otherwise smaller nations would be just swallowed by their powerful neighbours and hence she deserved highest compliments in encouraging  Bush from day one of the invasion of Kuwait to give the lead  to fight against Iraq.  The French President Francois Mitterrand  also deserved praises for supporting the war by actively taking part in it and thereby losing their precious personnel just like USA & UK. I salute these nations and with respect I bow down my head before  all those who laid down their lives to liberate Kuwait.

On behalf of all the like minded Goans who would be suffering very badly economically if Kuwait was not liberated, I pray to God to give eternal rest to Baba Bush. If it was not for the late Bush who even suppressed the opposition of China and Soviet Russia, Kuwait would be still lying with Iraq and many of  us including me would be still rotting in Goa without returning to Kuwait after its liberation.

GRAND WEDDING OF THE DAUGHTER OF OUR KUWAIT COLLEAGUE

I am sure, many of the senior Kuwait Goans who are still in Kuwait and others are in Goa but ex-Kuwaitkars, will surely know Mr. Alexinho de Maxem who is currently settled down in Goa at Maxem in Canconna after working in Kuwait for many years.  His second daughter Ketherine Fernandes wedded to Adson Fernandes from Fatorpa on 11th of this month at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Coto Fatorpa at 3.30 pm and the grand reception was held at Blasco Executive Center, Navelim at 8.00 pm which was attended by a large gathering comprising friends, relatives and well wishers of the bridal couple.

Seen above are colleagues of Alexinho de Maxem (2nd from right)in Kuwait

Kuwait colleagues of Alexinho de Maxem in Konkani movement
with  the newly wedded pair

The young newly wedded couple looked very happy emitting goodwill in the Hall either thru their ever smiling faces or wishing everyone who attended their wedding reception and thus spreading positive energy in the hall.  They both also proved to be very smart intellectually and educationally too as they disclosed their nature by the wonderful oratory they both exhibited thru their superb speeches they both delivered while thanking the gathering for attending their wedding.

One more photo of ex Kuwaitkars all colleagues of Alexinho in Konkani movement

They both also proved to be very good dancer as well since they exhibited one piece while starting the proceedings.  The girl as I understand is a Teacher by profession teaching at  St. Anne High School, Agonda while the boy is working on board the ship as “Tarvotti”.  Yet one more intellectual touch was given during the reception by  Fr. Joism B. Souza, the assistant priest of Chinchinnim Church, when he spoke so well while raising the toast imparting good suggestions and advices to the newly wedded couple.  In one example, he told them “not to listen to others but you both listen to each other”.  When we listen to others then we are likely to create confusion among us. Mona Lisa Barreto rendered a beautiful “Saudichem Cantar” with her melodious voice.

How I happened to attend this Wedding from Candolim to Navelim?  Alexinho de Maxem was my colleague in Kuwait when we organized Konkani movement in Kuwait starting first with the issue of Novem Goem “Porjechem Disallem”.  He was very generous and over eager to come forward first to render his assistance for any Goan cause and Konkani cause was deeply ingrained in his blood.  Hence, he being a renowned Tiatrist - a playwright, composer of songs, actor and director – he volunteered to stage his one new Tiatro “Nimnni Chitt”  for the cause of Novem Goem which was attended by the capacity crowd in the Church Hall.  Being in Kuwait during those days he staged 4 Tiatros mainly for the social causes and for Nimnni Chitt, with the exception of musicians, every person who participated in this Tiatro in whatever way and whoever he/she may be either on the stage or at the back they did so free of charge.

In mid sixties and in seventies Alexinho de Maxem was a big name and fame on Konkani Stage in Kuwait. Alexinho de Maxem was one of the general secretaries of Novem Goem Pratishthan Kuwait Somiti, Kuwait. Also, One more Tiatro he staged for Goa Cancer Hospital at Dona Paula.

It is sad to see that when he did so much for the cause of Konkani and Goa Cancer Hospital at Dona Paula, is there none  to recognize his contribution for these causes?  He is in Goa since last so many years but none even bothered to find out whether he is in need of anything? As far as Konkani movement makers in Goa are concerned especially the Romivadis, most of them are not aware of his contribution in the service of Konkani and Tiatro. His contribution in these  fields should be recognized by those who are concerned authorities. MANY Goans have done so much from Kuwait for the promotion of Goan culture, folklore and tradition and they should be duly  rewarded, one of them is Alexinho de Maxem, by the concerned persons/authorities. These Goans from Kuwait and in other Gulf countries sacrificed a lot to support Goan causes even by risking their jobs and as such they should be duly honoured.

As it is now so too in 1961 in December novenas/salves were going on in our Church to prepare ourselves spiritually for the feast of Nossa Senhora de Esperanca.  Out of 9 novenas going on in the evenings from 5.30 PM to 8.00 PM, 4 were finished and then only Indian Millitary entered Goa and uprooted Portuguese from Goa on 19.12.61.  During this period stories were started pouring in saying at so and so place Indian Millitary personnel raped Goan females, one was in Pilerne, the other was at Cortalim and elsewhere. Fear gripped our minds and hearts because such incidents were new to us, these incidents were un-Goan and against our culture and tradition. Our extremely pro-Bharat and extremely anti-Portuguese Pe. Vigar of our Church, Pe. Nicholau Noronha was terribly upset over this sad news and to avoid any untoward incident happening to our females while going home in the darkness after finishing the novenas, since Indian Millitary personnel were constantly passing on the road to Aguada, our Pe. Vigar stopped the novenas in the evenings and shifted in the mornings. From here one should deduce one’s conclusion that raping had taken place in Goa otherwise a Pro-Bharat Pe. Vigar of our village Candolim would not take a very negative step against the sinful acts of Indian Military. Those were the fearful days we passed especially those of us having sisters and other females  at our homes.
History said the first target of the invaders or conquerors were the females of the invaded land and since India invaded Goa by force its military treated us as slaves. What disorder and sexual  “hara-kiri “ victorious Indian Military personnel have not done in Bangladesh following the liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistan!!  Though the sexual scandal have been committed by the Indian Army yet they have liberated the Bangladesh and for this reason it was called LIBERATION of Bangladesh and not Invasion or Conquest of Bangladesh.  The use of the term liberation was correct because in its true sense India liberated Bangladehs i.e. East Pakistan and handed over this land to Bangladeshis, the people staying there.  Bravo India up to this point.  But when India uprooted Portuguese from Goan soil, why they have not given Goa into the hands of Goans only just as they did in Bangladesh and just get out of the sacred soil of Goa?  Do these corrupt, cunning and crook Indians have any category and dignity to rule over us?  The worst corrupt people in the world are Indians and its leadership under Congress government at the Centre is hegemonistic in nature and because it is so India brought under its umbrella by using militaryforce the states like Hyderabad, Assam and surrounding areas in the north against the wishes of the locals there.  I am sure 75% of the Indians will opt for secession from Indian Union if a  choice is given to them. These feelings people in India get not because they dislike India as country or a nation but because of their dislike for the corrupt leaders of India both at State level and at the National level.  I feel ashamed to be the citizen of this corrupt country ruled by the most corrupt “Zopottpotti”  type of leaders both from the Congress and BJP. However, if I am accepting Indian Citizenship with Indian Passport then because I have no other choice. Moreover, Indian citizenship was imposed on me by our invaders or conquerors and not by the liberators. Goa was never liberated.  Earlier we were ruled by the Lisbon's Portuguese while now we are ruled by the Delhi Portugues.  Both are our conquerors and both are our masters and enslaved us to them;  one was white skinner and the other of my skin colour.  It is because of this corrupt leaders that the image of Indian Passport holders is blackened and precisely because of this many of our people are rushing to acquire foreign passports even  by paying heavy sum of money as bribe.

18th of December 1961 early in the morning near my house next to the main road of Candolim, my father went to our field to adjust the water flow for the paddy crop.  While he was in the field doing some some job of adjusting the water flow, then and at that moment only the Indian Millitary convoy of heavy military vehicles started passing thru the road going to Aguada where heavy Portuguese military was stationed there. Seeing my father in the field, they stopped their convoy and called my father.  Frightened, my father  obliged. When the top military personnel asked my father “why you are wearing this “Cheddi” and Banyan? My father replied saying “because I am  poor. For this the Indian military man from the convoy said loudly “We know Portuguez purposely kept you poor but henceforth you nor any Goan will remain poor, we are come here to drive out Portuguez and make you all Goans rich.

Like a mad man my father came running home shouting slogans like Jai Hind, Nehru Zindabad and Salazar Murdabad while the same father of mine a few minutes before while coming to our field was saying Viva Portugal, Salazar Zindabad and Nehru Murdabad. What made him to change his opinion so fast? It was nothing but Silvercoated LIES of Indian top military personnel. In fact Indians are top liars starting from Nehru as I  indicate below.

“Goa-Invasion-1961.

Jawaharlal Nehru - “It is not true that we covet Goa. That small bit of territory does not make any difference to this great country India. We do not desire to impose ourselves on the people of Goa against their wishes. It is definitely their responsibility to choose for themselves. We have assured Goans that it is for them to establish their own future and I further assure them on matters such as Religion, Languages and Customs”. - 21st August 1955.”

This Nehru  spoke in Parliament.

ARE WE LIBERATED?

The people of amchem Goem are all set to celebrate the 57th year of liberation from colonial rule. A large number of freedom fighters fought the Portuguese and even sacrificed their lives to free us from slavery, to ensure that our generation and the generations to come would be freed from bondage of foreign rule.
After 57 years of governance by our own rulers, are we free? Do we feel secure in our own land? Are we safe from the three main elements of life, viz. Air, Water and Food? The Air that we breathe is highly polluted, the water that we drink is contaminated, in some places we don’t even get drinking water for days, the food that we consume is laced with formalin, vegetables are coated with fertilizers, fruits are forced ripened with carcinogenic chemicals. Is this the freedom for which our forefathers shed their blood?
The Good Lord has abundantly blessed our mannkule and apurbaieche Goem, with lush green fields, lively mountains, orchards, rivers, etc. We have been self sufficient for centuries. Our ancestors have preserved and nurtured our beautiful land since time immemorial.
The whole of Bardez taluka and parts of Bicholim taluka are dependent on the fresh water from the Assonora fresh water river. The government has now cleared a 200 room resort by M/s Mahindra & Mahindra company, just 77 metres upstream of the river. The company has declared that the resort will generate 225 MLD of sewage/waste water. That turns out to be 2 lakhs 25 thousand litres of sewage per day. Naturally this waste water will trickle down, rather, gush down into the Assonora Fresh water river and pollute it. Our fresh water source that our ancestors nurtured since centuries will be lost forever. I sthis development? Is this the fruit of liberation?
Our Goa has been known for its natural beauty all across the world since decades and has been the most preferred tourist destination. But alas, it has come to light that a Draft Tourism Master Plan for ‘High Spending Tourist’ in its draft form has been conceived to change the face of our beautiful state, to give a new direction to tourism in our land of our ancestors. A Plan that is definitely going to turn our beautiful Goa into a SIN CITY.
As far as our youth are concerned, is there a well thought out labour policy that will ensure a bright and secure future for our children? A labour policy that will stop the migration of our youth and families, especially from the catholic faith, from leaving the land of their ancestors in  search of bread and butter? Will our youth get jobs and be able to stand on their own feet? Things have surely gone wrong. A very bleak future awaits our youth.
In view of so many problems plaguing our beautiful but fragile state of Goa, Goencho Avaaz, a non political organisation is planning a social awareness program titled THE SECOND LIBERATION OF GOA at the Taxi Stand, Mapuca on 19 Dec 2018, at 3.30 pm, the solemn day of our liberation in 1961.  The aim is to give a call to preserve our environment for future generations, to ensure hygienic and safe food, a call to protect our fields, orchards, mountains, rivers, beaches; a second liberation to free us from the mother of all evils, viz. CORRUPTION. A second liberation from gambling, drugs, rapes, prostitution, molestation, murders, etc. A second liberation for a bright and secure future for our youth by providing employment. Lets REBOOT and save amche Goen.

It was hurting and humiliating too to know that the Goans who performed their 3 days campaign in Delhi to draw the attention of the Indian leaders including the Premier of India Modi stationed in Delhi, of their plight due to the closure of mining in Goa, were ignored and thus humiliated by not even enquiring of their plight. I am sure the whole world came to know of this strike of Goans but not Modi who surprisingly and ironically is the Prime Minister of India a shameless man who does not take interest in what is happening in his own compound. How such a careless man take interest of the country India that is surrounded by the worst enemies, namely China and Pakistan?  No wonder, the infiltration of Pakistani marauders has been increased since Modi became Premier.  The Goans went to Delhi inspite of their poor financial status with the hope that Delhi leaders would take interest in their plight and find out some solution.  But the Delhi leaders of Indians and India acted like heartless Indians least bothered to know of what crisis have been happening to the great people of great land Goa which was robbed by India 57 years back on 19.12.1961.

Before this, the land of Goa was in the hands of very disciplined nation headed by the disciplined leader who used to take up the issue even of smallest person from Goa if that issue was brought to his notice instead of putting that issue under his Pillow like a ‘BEBDO” and sleep over it for 20 years like Rip van winkle. They were conducting their strike just in Delhi and too in the backyard of Prime Minister Mr. Modi.  What a shame it is to ignore the plight of these poor Goans!!  I strongly feel that even the late Portuguese dictator Salazar would not act thus the way the leaders of India acted now.  And on top of it these Indian leaders are boasting of their leadership when they ignore the grievances of their own subjects.  Who else now will solve the problems of the maintenance of livelihood of all the Goans dependent on the mining?

Coming back to Salazar and his discipline as an administrator, it was somewhere in 1960 one Professor of mine at Escola Primaria - Abade Faria in Candolim when I  was studying Portuguese, was involved in one case of  forgery.  When he was caught by the authority and sentenced for imprisonment at Aguada, while in prison he sent a letter directly to the dictator of Portugal Dr. Antonio Oliveira Salazar pleading with Salazar to help him to get proper justice as he felt it has been denied to him and as such he was wrongly punished. Within a month the professor received a reply from Salazar acknowledging the plea of my Professor and assuring him of his attention to the plight of my professor with the comment  saying “I will revert back to you”. This type of great discipline one acquires when one posseses the great family background – great learning – great interacting with great colleagues and friends and  not in the Restaurant with Waiters.

By citing this incident of Salazar I am not glorifying the Portuguese rule in Goa and nor the dictatorship of Salazar though I still admit that Salazar was partly responsible for our state of affairs in Goa.  Inspite of having knowledge that Bharat is all set to invade Goa he took things easy. He should have during that period only handed over our Goa into our hands and made Goa truly a REAL LIBERATED GOA instead of facing the invasion from where there is no easy way out for us for this reason our invaders or conquerors are treating us like slaves.

It was exactly on 17thof this month in 1961 at about 7.00 in the evening the last trip of the Caminhao of Kekapai from Candolim was coming from Betim stopping in front of the Candolim Church alighting a few passengers there among whom was my late brother Cheddo who for 3 days was sent to the borders by Goa Police management to work on the break-down since he was working as a technician for Goa Police. When he got down from the Caminhao he saw our Church Pe. Cur – Pe. Marcus Menezes and told him “Pe. Cur, te bhitor sorlet ahm!!” At that moment with Pe. Cur, myself and one Dhobi from Orda, Esso by name were also standing. Esso came with the laundry of Pe. Cur and after sometime Esso will receive from Pe. Cur 1 Rupee as  payment for the laundry and stopping at Orda Tinto he will buy rice, fish and Fenni for him and finish that one rupee.

But the moment he heard my brother saying “te bhitor sorlet” that moment Esso understood that Indian military entered Goa and leaving everything there even his one rupee, Esso started running screaming  loudly “Jai Hind, Jai Swaraj, Jai Maharaj, atam amchem raj, Hinduchem raj zatelem, ami tumkam atam martelet, tumcheo igorjo ani kopelam ami moddtelet”. At that moment  Esso was fuming with anger against Christians and gradually Goa created innumberable Essos who were earlier  hiding with their anger.

LAST CHANCE FOR CALANGUTE – CANDOLIM – COASTAL BELT AND OTHER PLACES IN GOA.

450 Years Portuguez ruled over Goa but they never jeopardized the land and environment and other natural assets and resources of Goa the way our so called leaders of so called liberated Goa which came thru the invasion of Delhi.  This invasion gave full liberation to Delhi Babus and other Babas with the help of Chor leaders of Goa from Panchayat and Legislative level to rob the natural resoursces and natural beauty of Goa by way of cuttings the Hills and Mountains, demolishing houses of indigenous   Goans, destroying their means of livelihood, heritage, culture and tradition. These leaders are enjoying crook power thru their official status though they don’t have decency nor decent family ground. They belong to third class family background for this reason they do third class acts in collaborating with non-Goans to strip Goa of all its national resources and sell it to outsiders with a share for them.

If we do not protest and stop them from executing their anti-Goan plans then we will lose what is ours forever thereby making ourselves responsible for not doing our duty towards our next generations. Posterity will hold us responsible for not protecting what is ours.

At the moment no land is easily available in the costal belts more so in Calangute and Candolim and whatever is available like Communidade land, forests land etc. are encroached by the local politicians and land mafia then illegally converted and sold to big builders for erecting big projects which are not meant for Goa.

Then there is a big risk for PWD Water supplied to the whole of Bardez from Asnora Water treatment plant getting contaminated because of the big hotel project coming next to it, this hotel comprising more than 200 rooms will spread sewage septic waste water in the lake.

There are lot of migrant vote banks created by our corrupt politicians and there is  a  nexus between migrant voters many of whom  are having dual voting facilities and their political patrons. For this we have to be there at Mapusa for further deliberation.

Hence, it is imperative for all of us the real sons and daghters of real Goan parents and grand parents to come tomorrow the 19th of this month at Taxi Stand at 3.30 PM, Mapusa, to decide  what steps to take the next during the public meeting convened by Goemcho Avaz.

According to the newspaper report on 16th of this month, the Judas of Goan Politics Vijay Sardesai who is fully responsible for bringing disgrace on Goan politics by joining BJP for his selfish gains, was in Dubai where he addressed the Goan diaspora indicating his interest to have a strong regional party like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.  While speaking there he said, ‘Goa has lagged behind in forming a true regionalistic party and that has resulted in wanton interference in creating policies and decisions skewed against Goans”.

Vijay Sardesai has got no right to give advice to Goans on any topic because however best his advice may be, it will be always considered as advice of the traitor who lost all his credentials of an upright man.  People should not believe him in anything what he says because his sayings and tellings are of a liar who lied to the people of Goa.  Because of his lies and crookedness innocent people who supported him and his party has lost their credibility and respect.  “Vijaychea mar xen..., taka kiteim cholta, to eka Khapurlea porim jieta, mhonnchem, Khapurleak khuim Kulei sarke and Thanaim sarkim”.  We cannot be like Vijay who thinks accumulation of wealth thru falsification and criminalization of Goan politics will give all the happiness and satisfaction.  But I say by thinking thus Vijay is making a big mistake because very shortly he will have to pay and pay very heavily for committing the  biggest blunder on Goan people by robbing like a biggest robber of the trust of the people.  Such crooks never attain success lasting for a long time.

Furhter Vijay said that “our ideology, organization and leadership begin and end with Goenkars”.  All bullshit Vijay, what you preach is not Goan ideology, your ideology is the ideology of the robbers to rob Goa and Goans as you robbed us of the trust we reposed in you.  You have no right to talk on behalf of Goans because you are practicing and implementing ideology of “Rostad”, we are not of that category.  You said “we will not compromise with Goenkar first policy”. All balls, whom you are telling these “shantam”, you have already compromised that by indicating “goenkar last” and not the first when you joined BJP about whom you were talking so bad during the last electioneering.  If at all people supported you and got you elected from Fatorda, it was only because of your anti-BJP stand and shamelessly now like a “cheddi” you are sleeping with BJP. You have no category to represent Goa and talk on behalf of Goans.  We Goans do not trust you and your other 2 other Judases.  Your one colleague before the last election during the election meeting in Saligao openly and loudly said that he will never join BJP and hardly the echo of this statement died down then he joined the same BJP – a shameless Jayece from Saligao constituency but hailing from Nerul the ancestral village that produced best of upright Nillukars.  By joining BJP Jayece disgraced not only himself,  his “Khandan” but also his village where people are known to be upright.

Gulf Goans are known to support the upright politicians in Goa, this was from the beginning itself and we from Kuwait maintained this policy.  Gulf Goans are known always to support pro-Goa/ns and pro-Konkani movements.  I don’t know why and how suddenly Dubai Goans thought of giving credibility to this man, a traitor, a shameless who brought a disgrace not only  his Caste which otherwise he boast of but also on his religion which is otherwise a great religion which tells its followers not to indulge in doing wrong things.  These  some Hindus coming from higher echelon Society boast of their higher caste status to belittle lower castes people.  But now I am asking these so called higher caste people, are you permitted by your great religion to indulge in cheating the Goan community?

I request my Gulf based members of Goan community to be upright in your dealings with Goan politicians and never entertain those who are known to work against Goan community and Goan language Konkani.  In future please follow in the foot-steps of your elders who always supported real Goa lover politicians and not selfish and corrupt ones like Vijay Sardesai.

Attended by a huge crowd from all over Bardez, Goencho Avaz held its meeting in Mapusa at Taxi Stand in order to protest over the wrong anti-Goan decisions taken by Goa government.  Each and every speaker well selected by the GA headed by the great Goa lover Capt. Viriato Fernandes bared the mischief of Goa government in trying to destroy Goa by destroying its hills, mountains, rivers, fields and everything that is best in Goa and best for Goa. By organising this meeting on 19th of this month, the organisers and the attendees of this meeting, it looks, showed their disgust over the fake liberation of Goa which was better utilized by the crook Goans to earn them better dividends.

Speaker after speaker  in their speeches highlighted the curseful and disgraceful plans and decisions of the politicians and government namely of ODP, Food Aduhelteration, Healthcare, Unemployment, Tourism Master Plan, Coal Jetty, Nationalisation of Rivers, IT Park etc. The convenor of GA Capt. Viriato Fernandes a very energetic man and youthful dynamic leader spoke very well by giving historical events in which he described how some of the Goan polticians brought disgrace on Goan politics from the point of Dayananda Bandodcar who struggled so hard to merge Goa with Maharastra, Pratiphsing Rane’s defection to Congress and his son’s defection to BJP for the lust of power and money, Churchill Alemao’s multiple defections and the recent murder of democracy by BJP.  According to me people from Goa must give their verdict against the one who played this mischief in creating hara-kiri on the clear verdict given by the Goans to Congress. This mischief of denying Congress its rightful opportunity of forming the ministry was a big crime against the entire people of Goa and whoever was responsible for initiating this crime should be severely punished by the people of Goa in the next election.

It is very heartening to see Capt. Viriato indicating lot of encouragement in bringing order into political life in Goa thru his intentions which are very clear and as a public speaker I can easily rate him with  the level of J.M. D’Souza the first Calangute Constituency MLA from UG and also easily equate him to Dr. Jack Sequeira. He is sincere and full of love for Goa and Goan cause.

Among other speakers Dr. Francisco Colaco the eminent cardiologist by singing a song especially composed by him for this meeting kept the audience well entertained.

GA put forth their few demands before the authorities one of them jobs for people of Goan origin, 100% jobs in Government sector and 80% in private. Some important resolutions were also taken.

Social activist Felly from Assagao well compered the proceeding.

WELL KNOWN KONKANI STAGE ARTISTE SEMENCA WEDS PURAB.
The well known Konkani Stage artiste and one of the beauties of Konkani Stage Semenca wedded to the handsome young man Purab on 18th of this month at Nossa Senhora de Ajuda Church – Ribandar Goa, attended by the parents of the bridal couple, their relatives and friends and followed by the reception at Bambolim Beach Resort at 7.00 pm. The reception was well attended by the relatives of the newly married couple along with their friends, colleagues and well wishers dotted with some Stage artistes, namely Jessica Gomes and her husband James, Mario Menezes, Anne Quadros as I have seen them.
It was nice to see both the boy and a girl, namely Purab and Semenca were in very jovial mood enjoying every move of theirs on the dancing floor along with the guests who attended the reception.
The father and mother of the girl, Semenca were good friends of mine, so too Semenca whose Stage acting always mesmerized my eyes. Her father was a good friend of mine in Kuwait at Sour Ground during our soccer activities where he came in contact with my son Ashton too while playing foot-ball, incidentally he was a great fan, supporter and admirer of my son as he was one of the best foot-ballers there.
It is my sincere wish and prayer to see the knot tied on 18thDecember 2018 to remain tied forever to live a happy married life.
May God bless you both Semenca & Purab to lead a good, decent and respectable married life.
With all my love and affection.
