This is in response to the attitude of the people who were just standing and watching the killing of the owner of Margao Gold Shopkeeper on 2nd of this month instead of preventing physically the murderers from executing their action. Prophet Mohammed when once asked “when there will be justice in this world, replied Prophet saying,. “When everyone of us will gather courage to fight against the injustice committed on to others as if that injustice is committed on to us only, then only there will be justice in the world”. Was justice done to the innocent Swapnil Walke the Shopkeeper by all those passers-by and those who were standing there when assailants were busy in killing the victim? They all have failed in their just duty to protect Walke and in view of this they are to be held equally responsibility as the murderers.
I am surprised how so many Goans who were witnessing this murder have failed in doing one just act of rushing there to prevent the assailants from executing their most sinister act !!. Some of them it seems were busy in clicking photos and video filming on their mobiles. For whom to show and for what purpose? All my Goan brothers and sisters who at least could have shouted loudly and gathered more people to face the asailants. By doing nothing preventive they failed in their duty to protect the life of an innocent man. To remain silent during such crisis is an un-Goan act for which I feel very sorry. Where is our Goannes gone?
There is one dirty habit in our life which is captivating our minds and hearts and this habit is day by day increasing among us which came in greater magnitude and captivated us soon after the ouster of Portuguese rule from Goa. This habit is indicating our selfishness and that was inducted in our Goa with greater magnitude by the unwanted influx of non-Goans who captured every piece of Goa immediately after the acquisition of Goa by the Bharat. And what is called that habit? It is called “MAKAM KITEAK PODDLAM?”. Tukaim poddok na ani makaim poddonk na tor konnak poddlam? Tujea Maechea Ghovak? It was so surprising that not a single person or a few persons standing there among the crowd watching the murder had no guts in them to show their manly capacity? Were they all females or babies? Where is the guts of Goans normally associated in them from their birth? Goans are normally known to be very brave, when he is small he learns to face the dangers of life when he goes to the mountain for his work and where he encounters most of the deadly wild animals and poisonous Snakes, when he climbs the tall coconut trees jeorpordising his life hundreds of times daily, going into deep sea facing bravely the deadly high waves inhabited by furious Sharks, walking thru the most risky and isolated routes manned by the worst robbers and cruel murderers and so many others where the Goan is developed to encounter the most dangerous men. I am unable to find out what type of cowards those Goenkars who were standing there in front of the crime scene and just watching the scene as if they were watching the football match at Rajandra Prasad stadium.
