8th Aug. 2016.

To,

Bab Pratapsingh Rane-M.L.A.
Hon’ble Leader of Opposition,
Gov. of Goa,
Legislative Assembly Complex,
Porvorim Goa-403521.

Viva bab Rane Salazar,
Namaskar!

Enclosed please find one page of the “GOAN OBSERVER” (July 16-22, 2016). The page carries an article by Mr. Rajan Narayan, reminiscing some disturbing incidents, that occurred when he joined as Editior of “Heraldo”

SCENE 1: 1983 i.e. when you were the C.M. of Goa.

He writes about your high-handed order, to summarily dismiss the affable Director of Kala Academy Mr. Damu Kenkre and also ordered the founder-Publisher of “Heraldo”_late AC. Fernandes, to sack him as the Editor, because he had written the reason why and how, you had dismissed Mr. Damu Kenkre, as the Director of KA.

Mr. A.C. Fernandes defied your arrogant order, thanks to his sense of self-dignity, but the fact still remains that your all-mighty attitude and your high-voltage arrogance was/is nothing short of Salazarism. Should I say “Viva Salazar” or “Viva Rane”? Salazar must be turning in his grave, with glee!

I come from a family of so-called Freedom-Fighters. My paternal grand father was co-founder of “Partido Indiano” (Indian Party) with Jose’ Inacio Loyola (Fanchu). My paternal uncle spent quite sometime behind bars and received “Tamra Patra” at the hands of late P.M. Indira Gandhi. And there were some truly genuine Freedom Fighters, who suffered pain and deprivation, but sought nothing for themselves, not even pension and other “goodies”, for themselves, their children, grand children etc. Some of them were fakes, of course.

Yet, all of you occupying powerful positions in the Government of Goa, as C.Ms., Ministers, Directors etc. for so many, many years, nullified their sacrifices, in total contempt of them. Election after election, Goans voted for you, to serve, to protect Goans and Goa. Instead all of you, individually and collectively, crushed and destroyed the Goa of our noble ancestors, be they poor or rich.

I do not need to repeat that in the last elections, the Congress Government in Goa was kicked out, because its corruption, arrogance, nepotism et al had become unbearable. As a result, tens of thousand of Goans like myself, voted for B.J.P., whose face then in Goa, was Manohar Parrikar. Goans believed then that he was truly honest and sincere. If Goans and Goa are in a grave situation now, it is only because the Congress Government and Congress Party, forced our hand to press the BJP lotus-button, on the voting machine.

Every Goan Institution like our ancient Gaonkari System (Communidades) is crippled and maimed; every Goan soul cries in distress; every Goan mind sees only darkness in the horizon!

Bab Rane, what have you and all your fellow politicians, of all colours and hues, reduced the Goa of our forefathers to? And what kind of Goa are you leaving for your children, your grand-children and their children? What legacy are all of you, in whose hands Goans had placed their thrust, leaving for the future of our Land, our People, our children-born and yet to be born?!

And with what courage and/or audacity do you and all of you, want to seek votes of Goans yet again, whom you and all of you, have betrayed so brazenly, for so many, many continuous years?

God have mercy on our People and our Land. Only He can rescue us from this deep, dark pit that you and all of you, have pushed us into.

Enclosed, please find a Xerox of Mr. Prabhakar Sinari’s article-“Quo Vadis Goa?” when in he laments in despair for his Goa. (You’ll know that Mr. Sinari had joined Azad Gomantak Dal as a daring, idealistic teenager-and paid a price for it).

Truly as Mr. Sinari writes:

“Goa has already lost on many counts”
“Time is fast ticking for Goa”.

Sincerely,

(Sergio Carvalho)

P.S.

If what Mr. Rajan Narayan has written in the “Goan Observer” (July 16-22, 2016) about you is untrue, we as voting, tax-paying citizens of Goa, have the right to know. Besides, since his said article is in public domain, we the voting, tax-paying citizens, expect you to file a case for Defamation, against Mr. Rajan Narayan.
