TIATRO "SOUNSARANT BOREM NAUM DOVOR"

Seen above Antonette de Maina singing opening song.

On Saturday, 5th of this month I saw the Tiatro “SOUNSARANT BOREM NAUM DOVOR”, written and directed by Constantino Crasto,  at Kala Academy A/C Hall, in Panjim, starting at 7.45 PM. Though this Tiatro was thinly attended by the audience yet performance wise it was a good presentation in which every artiste performed his or her role well.  However the superlative credit goes to Roma for doing superlative role in all respects as a destructive woman trying to destroy  her neighbours peace.  She also excelled in her dress code wearing low grade Sarees at home befitting her low standard in the Play.

Baba Cielo sings his solo.

The other person deserving much credit was Antush playing the role of a neighbour as an enemy of Roma.  Besides, Pascoal Rodrigues and Antonette de Maina also played their roles well. Ignatius de Xelvonn as usual played the role of a corrupt politician very well and comedians Selvy and Betty excelled in comedy role.

Benny de Aldona & Saby de Divar.

The story of the Play revolves around two neighbouring families who on the wrong advices of their local MLA goes for destructive ideas against each other of course to the cheap pleasure of the local Sarpanch and local MLA.  In this episode the director clearly indicates how the local corrupt politicians are using the people to further their own selfish interest. I think this Tiatro is a must see for the people to gain some better knowledge of our politicians’ selfishness

One scene where Antonette-Pascoal-Roma-Antush are seen.

The Side Show songs were good but the special mention must go to Pascoal Rodrigues’ solo, Benny de Aldona’s solo, Saby de Divar’s solo, duo rendered by Rosario de Benaulim with Ignatius de Xelvon and Baba Cielo’s solo

Pascoal Rodrigues sings solo.
Since it is going to be staged once again in Panjim, it is worth seeing.
Congratulations to writer & director Constantino Crasto and his troupe.

PAL SOARES' TIATRO IN PANJIM ON TUESDAY 8TH JULY.

After attaining success in Margao and acclaiming to be the best drama of this season, well-known writer & director Pal Soares is now coming to Panjim,  at Kala Academy Hall,  on 8th of this month at 7.30 PM to stage his new drama "ATAM THORI MHAKA SONDHI DHIAT".

It is a must see for those who are longing to see a good story and side show songs too.

BRAZIL MINUS INJURED NEYMAR.

I am totally disappointed that Neymar is out of World Cup due to intentionally inflicted heavy injury on him by the ruffian type of Colombian defender Juan Zuniga. It was surprising to see that the match referee failed even to show Yellow card to the offender. This shows the laxity on the part of the Referee and as a matter of fact so far in this World Cup refereeing was not up to the mark.

Minus Neymar much of the glitter not only of Brazil but also of the remaining part of the World Cup will be lost. His graceful play and sprinting with the ball were just the thrillers to watch. His running capacity with the ball makes him another Ussain Bolt on the football field.  This sprinting capacity gave an added booster for his otherwise excellence in playing excellent soccer especially in defense splitting passes.

So far, Brazil looked heavily depended on him and in his absence the home team will find it extremely hard to overcome the challenge of their opponents Germany which is a very organized team having a very good disciplined team work.  In 1994 when Maradona was evicted from the World Cup for the intake of Drugs the beauty of that tournament was lost because in his absence people lost the opportunity to get them entertained further by any other player. In the same manner, in this tournament with the exit of Neymar we lost the opportunity to see him entertaining the soccer fans from the soccer field. I only hope he recovers fast.

In 1966 World Cup held in England, Brazil returned home miserably because it then depended too much on one player Pele and when he was ruthlessly injured by the Bulgarians and Portuguese, Pele failed to produce his magic and hence Brazil came home empty handed.  In order to amend this mistake in the next World Cup in 1970 at Mexico the new coach of Brazil Mr. Saldanha prepared a totally new look team comprising number of Peles to diminish the over dependence on one real Pele. Hence came the stars like Jairzinho, Dr. Tostao, Rivelino, Gerson, Clodoaldo, Carlos Alberto and others who produced the best ever team on this planet that finally won the Jules Rimet trophy for the third time for Brazil and to keep it permanently for Brazil.

Unless miracle takes place and in view of the absence of Neymar on whose feet the greatness of Brazil revolved, Brazil will not survive the onslaught of Germany in the semi-final. In 1962 Brazil in the absence of injured Pele, had second Pele in Garrincha to gain them the  victory but in this edition there is no second Neymar. Hence the situation for Brazil against Germany is very bad. Still as my favourite team I wish Brazil all the best because best of soccer is stored in them and they have capacity to release it. Hope they will do this now.

TIATRO "UNDIR MHOJEA MAMA" BY ROSEFERNS.

NEW TIATRO “UNDIR MHOJEA MAMA”.

Packed to capacity the A/c Hall at Kala Academy Panjim, yesterday the 9th of this month, the Tiatro lovers watched the new Tiatro “UNDIR  MHOJEA  MAMA” written and directed by the renowned playwright, Roseferns.  In Goa in the Tiatro circle, there are a very few directors whose marketing capacity before the audience is such that their name itself is enough to woo the audience for their Tiatros and one such director is Roseferns.  Because of his name and fame, a  day in advance the tickets for this Show were sold. Currently, this is something great as it used to happen earlier for the Tiatros staged by those gigantic directors namely J.P. Souzalin, C. Alvares, M. Boyer, Remy J. Colaco, Prem Kumar and some others. All those gigantic directors of yesteryears lived up to the expectations of the audience but are the current great directors capable to fulfill the expectations of the audience? The audience alone can answer this question.

As scheduled, the Show started at 7.45 PM while outside it was raining since it was a rainy day. Since more Shows of this Tiatro are going to be staged elsewhere in Goa including the repeat Show in Panjim, I desist from giving full details of this Tiatro.  Hence, the gist.

The title of the Tiatro UNDIR MHOJEA MAMA is used in figurative sense indicating a traitor – Rosario de Benaulim - in the family of Roseferns. This traitor happens to be one of the sons who created a plot to kill the bride of his brother – Tari – on her wedding day itself when she was going to the Church for her nuptial.  While at home preparing to get set to go to the Church for his nuptial, the bridegroom gets the sad news of the sudden death of his bride and out of shock he goes mad.

Tari played the role of a mad man extremely well and he was assisted well by the charismatic artiste Antonette de Maina.  Rosario de Benaulim does justice to his role and as his wife seasoned and attractive artiste Roma performed her role beautifully. As usual, the director Roseferns did his role very well with the normal clarity of the  delivery of his terminology.  Comedian Jannet also as usual played her part well along with comedian Selvy and others.

In the Side Show songs, Lawry Travasso, Marcus Vaz, Francis de Tuem, Rosario de Benaulim and Roma rendered their songs well. However, in the absence of Saby de Divar something looked missing since his political songs creating lot of ripples are admired by the audience.

As a whole and with the exception of a few minor flaws, the Show was well enacted and it is worth watching by those who missed it.
Congratulations Roseferns and your troupe.

The above appeared in Goa's well read daily Herald dated 11.07.14.

This is to refer to the above profile of Tiatro personality,  writer & director Pal Soares, appeared in Herald dated 11th of this month. I fully agree with what is written there of Pal Soares. A few days back I saw his new Tiatro "ATAM THORI MHAKAM SHONDI DHIAT" and as I reviewed it in this forum, I found it much better than all the Tiatros I saw during the last so many months since I returned from Kuwait 5 months back.   The story is good concerning our children going to the West and their future there, the duologs were excellent, the proverbial statements were very philosophical and pleasing to the ears. Every artiste played his or her role well but more credit should go to Annie Quadros, Antush and comedian Betty for nicely shouldering the major pressure of the play.  In Side Show songs, well known political singer Saby De Divar and Benny de Aldona stole the show with their beautiful songs.

Though the show was thinly attended by the audience in Panjim  due to many factors yet Pal Soares must not get disappointed because of less crowd.  All the well-known playwrights in the beginning faced this problem and only after undergoing this problem they were accepted by the audience and thus they  reached to the top. It is something great that the audience attended to Pal's Tiatro last week have commented very positively in appreciation of the excellence Pal Soares displayed on the stage.

Along with me last week, my friend the Dubai Tiatro organizer Remmy Fernandes also saw Pal's Tiatro and he commented to me saying, "this Tiatro is much better". If things work out well, he may take this Tiatro to Dubai.

While concluding, I congratulate Pal Soares for writing such a rich Tiatro and ask him to continue on writing more and more such Tiatros. To elevate the now sagging standard of Tiatros, playwrights like Pal Soares' contribution is a must.  As it is since their demise we are yet to have replacements for M. Boyer, Prem Kumar, Remy J. Colaco, Alfred Rose, C. Alvares, J. P. Souzalin, Alexinho de Candolim, Saib Rocha and Minguel Rod. If am not mistaken their void will never be filled by the current top Playwright Tiatrists who show no originality but "cut and paste" from Hindi Movies.

WORLD CUP 2014 FINAL.

Finally the final is over and Germany has won the Cup. Congratulations to Germany though Argentina played much better. With this victory Germany created a history by being the first non-South American country to win the World Cup in South America.  To my knowledge, this is the first time since 1986 the W. Cup final has reached to such an interesting and thrilling zenith where every minute till the end was exciting.  No doubt the disciplined and well organized Germans played well but in Argentinians we noticed more beauty and more hard work. Their passing was more accurate, defense was rocky and midfield was perfect in attack as well as in defense.  The current footballers from Goa have to learn a lot from this game and improve themselves even without the guidance of the  coach. By watching this W. Cup our footballers can learn so much especially from South Americans who have shown tremendous improvement.

Brazil deserved highest compliments for successfully organizing this event without any untoward incident inspite of the commotion and chaos preceding the W. Cup.  The way chaotic situation going on in Brazil demanding to stop the holding of the W. Cup tournament, it looked Brazil would have to scrap this event altogether and FIFA would have to shift it somewhere to a safer place just as it did earlier in 1986 when that year’s edition was shifted to Mexico.  However, by the grace of God situation calmed down and the tournament ended peacefully in Brazil itself.

Golden Gloves award should have gone to Argentinian keeper and not to the German.  So also Messi’s award was not deserving for him. Messi in this tournament contrary to his pre tournament billing turned out to be a mere spectator and more so in the final proving that he is best only at Club level tournaments. The real worth of a best player can be noticed only when he proves himself as best for his national team in stiff competition.  His compatriot Maradona earlier proved himself in his national Jersey to be the best. Hence, to equate Messi with the great Maradona is wrong. Not only  Argentina failed to produce another Maradona after his retirement but even the World has failed. The greatness of a footballer is noticed when he rises to the occasion to produce great game to achieve great result. Maradona did this while Messi failed.

After the end of the final one could easily notice the love of Germans and Argentinians for their respective countries thru the joy expressed by the Germans and thru the tears the Argentinians shed for their loss.  This shows the patriotism and immense love they have for their countries.

The goal that Germany’s Mario Goetze scored was a fantastic one that totally fooled the keeper under the Argentinian bar. Nicely halting the ball on his chest and lowering it down, he beautifully left footed it to a match winner.  Mario Goetze who a few minutes earlier came from the Bench where he was Benched as unwanted finally turned out to be the savior just as “rejected stone turned out be the corner stone".

In this edition lot of things happened for the first time in the history, namely introduction of goal line technology, use of evaporative spray, additional interval for serving of cold drinks and allowing the friends and family members of the players on the ground after the final.

The VIP stand looked majestic with the presence of Germany’s Merkel, Russia’s Putin in addition to the presidents of Argentina and FIFA.  I still remember how in 1982 edition of W. Cup in Spain the President of Italy Sandro Pertini and  Chancellor of Germany Helmut Smidt attended the final played between the winners Italy and Germany.  During that final I can still recollect how Sandro Pertini was jumping from his VIP Seat after every goal scored by Paolo Rossi’s squad. This shows how the leadership of European nations support their  and teams.

It would have been nice if our Premier Modi has accepted the invitation given to him by the Argentinian president and attended the Final where he would have been exposed to the entire world as our premier.
It is surprising that the record created by Just Fontaine of France in 1958 by scoring 13 goals is still not shattered by any one even though when Fontaine created this record the number of participating teams was only 16 while currently it reached to 32 and yet no player earning millions could shatter this record.

Once again congratulations to Germany for winning the Cup and to Brazil for hosting the tournament successfully.

TIATRO "AMCHEM KHUIM CHUKTA...Sodun Kadd".

Congratulations to Domnick Fernandes the writer & director  of the Tiatro “AMCHEM KHUIM CHUKTA …Sodun Kadd” which was staged on 14thof this month at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, starting right in time at 7.30 PM. Though it was attended by less number of people yet it was well enacted by all the artistes who deserve compliments. It was a sheer pleasure to see some of the greats of yesteryears still acting so very well, namely Titta Pretto, Betty Ferns and Antonette Mendes coming all the way from Bombay especially to participate in this Tiatro along with the Goa based veteran Jessy Dias who played her small role very appropriately.

Antonette Mendes seen singing her solo.

Antonette Mendes rendered two beautiful solos with her mellifluent voice which was very pleasing to the ears. Her clarity, timing and delivery as usual were excellent and her voice was still evergreen.  Betty Ferns did not lag behind showing all her former attributes afresh. Her stage excellence was still the same not losing much of her former charm and beauty. Titta Pretto though aged yet while performing his role he looked much younger. The current Goa based Tiatrists have to learn many things from the above oldies because they learnt their art from those great directors like J.P.Souzalin, C. Alvares, Prem Kumar and M. Boyer. Even their dress code was appropriate.

Seen above Wilmix & Sharon singing their duet.

The story of the Tiatro is based on our religious activities and the difference between Catholic faith and Believers. Michael Gracias plays an excellent role as Pastor of Believers while on the other side of the fence namely Wilimix, Sharon, Betty Ferns, Titta Pretto and others play their respective roles well. Commedian Neto with his flexible physique and philosophical terminology performed his comedy role very well.  I can easily rate him as one of the best comedians in Goa.

Seen above in road scene Titta & Betty.

In the Side Show songs, Antonette Mendes, Titta Pretto, Wilmix & Sharon and Neves Oliveira rendered their songs well.

Above seen are Domnick, Betty, Antonette & Jessy.

Since the story of the Play is so relevant to the current happenings in our midst because of the blossoming of Believers in Goa and its effect on Catholics, I feel the Goa Church must take an initiative to stage this Tiatro in every Parish in Goa because there is a very good message in it.  This message will be better delivered and easily understood from the Stage than from the Altar and Pulpit. Where our priests failed to give the correct message Tiatrist Domnick Fernandes coming all the way from Kuwait succeeded. He deserves encouragement and  support to spread his Catholic faith message widely all over Goa and Church can do this.

Titta Pretto seen rendering his solo.

Writer and Director of this Tiatro is based in Kuwait where he is working and time permitting by doing lot of sacrifices he is taking part in activities for the promotion of Konkani, Church activities and Tiatros.  He is a lover of Goan causes. Currently he is vacationing in Goa.

Seen in this picture above at extreme left is chief guest Fr. Conceiao and his two priests colleagues while at extreme right is Domnick Fernandes.

ISLAM IS DEBASED BY KUWAITI MUSLIMS.

$

During my over three decades of stay in Kuwait, a lot of cruel incidents I came across and these incidents have created a very negative effect on my thinking on Kuwait and Kuwaiti society as a whole even though none of the expatriates in Kuwait supported Kuwaiti cause as I did when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990.  One of such incidents I am narrating here below has damaged my heart making me sick because such an incident was new to me then but normal in Kuwait. It happened to one of our Goan mothers from Bombay but working as a maid in Kuwait for one top and rich Muslim Arab Kuwaiti and since it happened during the holy month of Ramadan, I remember it always during this holy month as it is now. Though it happened in 1977 in Kuwait yet it is as fresh in my mind now as it was then, so it will remain fresh till I die because as it is said by Shakesphere “The good that man does often interred with the bones while evil always remains after him”.

The maid Mary (Name changed) was recruited from Bombay by one Kuwaiti family to look after their 4th girl  child  of 4 years.  Being also a girl after 3 daughters, the Kuwaiti mother of this child being dejected for not having a boy, neglected this child by leaving her into the care of their maid Mary.   The child being very close to Mary became so attached to Mary that she lost motherly love of her real mother and considered Mary as her real mother even calling Mary as Mama.

Once as usual the Kuwaiti family went abroad for a holiday leaving their last child into the hands of Mary at home in Kuwait.  Suddenly after a few days one fine morning the Kuwait boss alone returned home to Kuwait because of business necessity.  In the same night after completing his business job in Kuwait, he came home at 11.30 PM and went to bed but not to sleep.  Suddenly after 2 hours when Mary was sleeping along with the small child in her separate room, Mary heard  her boss loudly calling her.

Thinking something went wrong to him, Mary quickly got up and hurriedly rushed to his room whence he grabbed her hand and put her on his bed and in broken English told her to surrender her body to him. Saying no, Mary started crying because other than her dead husband in Bombay she never allowed any man to touch even her shadow. Mary pleaded with him saying she was like his mother but he was adamant.  Then he warned her saying, “DON’T WASTE MY TIME BECAUSE LATER ON MY TIME WILL COME TO GO TO THE MASJID FOR EARLY IN THE MORNING PRAYER”. Mary was afraid for her life because as she noticed in him the Lucifer has already taken control of him and since this was the case he would even kill her in which case who will take care of her 3 young children in Bombay? Thought poor Mary. As George Bernard Shaw said “when rape is inevitable, the girl should just lie down and enjoy”. Having no choice, Mary volunteered to lie down but not to enjoy sex with this shameless Muslim Arab Kuwaiti Monster.

In this way the Muslim Kuwaiti Arab fulfilled his Satanic wish by discarding his religious teaching.  And worst part of this sin was that it was committed in the holy month of Ramadan by a Kuwaiti who boasted of his Muslim religion. In fact he should be ashamed of being a Muslim because the Muslims are forbidden to commit such crimes by their religion. Besides, by committing this crime on his poor Goan maid he proved himself how disgraceful he was having no dignity of  a true Kuwaiti, having no respect for his Islam and having no decent culture and tradition. With his money power he could purchase posh and sophisticated virgin girls from any part of the world but no, he opted for somebody poor and used one, an elderly mother of 3 kids and that too a free of charge one. This is the very bad habit of many Kuwaitis who are more tribal than cultured having Jewish blood in them and not Arab blood, as said by somebody once. True Kuwaiti blooded Kuwaitis will never commit such dirty and inhuman acts. True Muslim Kuwaitis will never commit such crimes especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

No expatriate female goes to Kuwait for having sex with the Kuwaitis but many times illicit sex is forced on them by the barbarian Kuwaitis and many times if their wants are refused they even maim and kill their victims and then declaring their victims have committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of their houses. Many times these Monsters escape from the jaws of the law because law enforcing machinery is in their hands and they can manipulate it to their advantages.

It is time now for the good Kuwaitis, for the good Arabs and for the good Muslims to raise their voices in unison against those disgraceful Kuwaitis who commit disgraceful acts against poor and helpless expatriates, especially Maids. Unless right thinking Muslims, Kuwaitis and Arabs come forward to correct the wrong doer Kuwaitis, the image of Kuwaitis, Arabs and  Muslims will never brighten in the eyes of civilized world. It is the great wish of Jews to see the image of Arabs and Muslims remain tarnished.
After the invasion of Kuwait on 2nd August 1990, giving an interview to Ted Turner of CNN on 15th of that month, Saddam Hussein said referring to Kuwaitis: “These Kuwaitis know only to collect money and women and to collect the same they will do anything. Hence they are a disgrace on Arabs and Islam”.
Following the invasion of Kuwait, Iraqi soldiers perpetrated worst of tortures and rapes on Kuwaitis. Many people even Kuwaitis said that invasion of Kuwait was God's punishment for Kuwait because of their ill-treatment to the expatriates especially to the poor Maids. Inspite of this God's punishment many Kuwaitis are not changing for the better which they should do.  Or else, are they waiting for greater calamity for God to send on them so that the Just God deliver the proper justice as "eye for an eye and tooth for tooth"?  After all the central idea of Islam is Justice which will surely face by the those who commit injustice as many Muslim Kuwaitis commit on poor expatriate Maids.
While concluding I must say that all Muslim Kuwaitis are not barbarians, only some who bring a bad name to Kuwaiti society by committing barbaric acts against innocent and poor expatriates especially helpless Maids like our Goan mother Mary.

TIATRO “HANV KHUXEAL  ASAM”.

Godwin, Anil & Olga In Opening Song

Written and directed by Mariano Fernandes, yesterday at Kala Academy Panjim, at 3.30 PM, I saw the Tiatro “HANV KHUXEAL ASAM”, attended by the capacity crowd.  This is the first time I saw Mariano Fernandes’ Tiatro though earlier from Kuwait I heard and read a lot of him that his Tiatros are creating a lot of ripples in Goa.  Incidentally after seeing this Tiatro I came to know that he is my “ghanv – Bhav” from Candolim and the son of my friend and also the nephew of once well known Tiatrist the late Greg de Candolim.

A scene where Maggy is seen at the Centre

Since this Tiatro is going to be staged again in Panjim twice in this same month and elsewhere as well in Goa, I only give the gist of the Play.  It is surrounded on the family story where the sons think only of their selfish interest by discarding the sacrifices of their father.  The ending part of the Play is very interesting where the audience were kept gasping for breath knowing not what would be the actual end.

A scene where Anil Pednekar at his best

All the artistes played their roles well even those whom I see for the first time but more credit should go to Anil Pednekar for playing a magnificent character role of an insane scientist expressing his statements in a witty and also in a philosophical manner.  Example, to quote him “In Panjim, no more Door Locks are available because they are all purchased by the Goan residents from Acacaim and ambient villages since all these Goan residents,  holders of Portuguese Passports left from Goa by locking their houses and thus all the Door Locks from Panjim Market got exhausted”.

Maggy & colleagues seen singing a Trio

Fittingly, Anil was felicitated during the interval for playing his wonderful role in this Tiatro.  Mario de Vasco played his fatherly role very appropriately, so too Godwin, Olga as a Westerner, Carmeen and  Maggy.

One of the scenes.

Comedy part was nicely handled by the two brothers namely Domnick and Bachan who were ably supported by Mathew who being a new to me showed lot of encouragement.  So the two girls in supporting them, one of them was Flavia.

Maggy & Mini Mario singing a duet.

In the Side Show songs though there was little deficiency yet the singers did justice to their roles in which Domnick and his other two partners rendered a nice political Trio, so too Godwin and his other two colleagues. Anil and Olga’s Duet on political theme was excellent. The solo rendered by Olga on misdeeds of politicians was very bold and the comedy solo rendered by Mathew was good. Mini Mario's solo was worth admiring, so too his duet with attractive Maggy.

A scene where seen are Mariano, M.Mario, Maggy, Mario de Vasco, Godwin and Carmeen.

It is worth seeing this Tiatro.

Congratulations to Mariano Fernandes and his troupe.

A FEMALE STUDENT MOLESTED IN CANDOLIM CHURCH SCHOOL.

$

0

On Saturday, the 19th of this month in the evening, the TV Channels of Goa, in their respective News items broadcast a very important news which disgraced the fair image of Candolim and that of the Candolim Parish School/Higher Secondary School which is under the direct control of the Candolim Church authority which in turn is under the control of Bishop House, Panjim, Altinho.  According to the telecast news broadcast, the President of NGO “Human Rights Defenders”, Mr. Edwin Fernandes speaking to the TV Channels, cited the case of molestation of a young girl student of St. Thresa’s Higher Secondary School, Candolim, by her own male teacher from Parra, Bardez, Goa.

According to Edwin Fernandes, the Church authorities starting from the Bishop are trying to squash this matter because the government machinery at the top level wants to protect the molester teacher who according to one source is very closely linked with the top ruling party machinery.  Hence, the Candolim School management suppressed this news from the public domain thereby allowing the wrong doer to go scot free resulting in supporting the molester to molest more young girl students.

According to the information gathered, this incident took place in the school premises about a year ago but since nobody had courage including the local politicians to raise his voice on this incident, the NGO manned by Edwin Fernandes after getting information though belatedly but rightly took up this issue and finally put it into the hands of “Goa State Women Commission”. For further verification of the facts, Edwin Fernandes pushed an RTI which was accepted by the concerned principal but when pressure mounted to suppress this news, the principal refused to oblige.

According to some insiders in the school, the molester is a serial molester whose  dirty habit was known to some in the School including the authority of Candolim Church that was running this institution but all of them closed their eyes thereby making the life of the girl students even of some female  teachers vulnerable to the molester.

Overwhelming majority of the parents prefer Church run schools for their children because of the good discipline imparted there and moreover for the safety of their children especially of girls.  But what has happened in Candolim at St. Thresa’s is very shocking leading the parents to lose their confidence in Church run schools.  As the head of the Candolim Church, the Church Pe. Vigar should be held accountable for hiding this ugly incident from the public eyes especially from the parishioners and other students also to caution them of this molester. Simultaneously he should have complained to the authorities concerned about this molester so that he was immediately reprimanded from the job. Pe. Vigar should have also informed the parishioners from the Altar about this incident as he normally informs of so many other unimportant incidents regarding the School’s happenings. In one word Pe. Vigar made a big mistake by hiding this incident under his Cassock and I am sure Bishop is also a party to this hidden issue of the girl.

There is a Pastoral Parish Council and Somudai in Candolim but it is surprising even they kept their silence on this sad incident.  Is it because the victim girl is a non-Christian? Would they keep quiet if the girl was a Catholic?  And what made the parents and guardians of the girl to remain dormant or were they pressurized by the interested party?

It is sad that the Pe. Vigar of Candolim Church instead of promoting the truth in a pure Christian manner is suppressing the truth which is against the Christianity. He as per my information even told the  students who were aware of this incident not to disclose to anyone. Moreover, as informed, the Bishop by suppressing this news also suppressed the truth.  This is wrong on the part of Bishop who should in a true Christian manner have exposed the truth by exposing the molester. In view of this the female students and their parents are made to lose their confidence in the school management which is under the control of the Church. Molestation of students is like a HIV disease and it should be treated as such.

While concluding, I must say that all those who are involved in suppressing this crime are also a party to this criminal act of the molester who should be ashamed of what he did.

DAVLIKAR'S HINDU RASHTRA.

$

On Thursday, Dhavalikar, who belongs to Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), while speaking during a motion congratulating Modi on becoming PM had said: "If we all support it and we stand by Narendra Modi systematically, then I feel a Hindu Rashtra will be established."

There is a saying in Konkani which says, “mazor imsann kednanch soddchem na”. Similarly, Davlikar as a child of communal and anti-Christian MG Party will never give up his anti-Christian and pro-Hindu campaign. MG Party was formed only to work against Goan Christians and if possible to liquidate them from Goa by minimizing their influence on every segment of society.

In this direction, MGP’s first move was to merge Goa with Maharastra thereby deGoanise Goa of Christian influence by bringing mostly the third rated Hindu Maharastrians and settle them in Goa just as Israel did in Palestine where the original Palestinians were uprooted from their dwellings and in their places the foreigner Jews were implanted. Goa being a small place and Christians in Goa being small in number would easily get swallowed by the arrival of influx from  Maharastra  And ultimately, in this process the major victims would be Goan Christians who would be the losers in all respects.

The hatred of MGP towards Goan Christians will never die though their goal of merging Goa with Maharastra was stopped permanently but still their another goal of hatred towards Christians will never die inspite of the fact that the hardcore MGP stalwarts like Dayananda Bandodkar already dead and  gone into extinction.  As long as these Davlikars as scum of MGP are alive and active in Goan politics, their hatred for Goan Christians will always remain. Hatred for Christians is deep rooted in their genes for this reason they coined the term “ZALACH PAYIJE” which finally Goan Christians made it  KHALAS  PAYIJE” in the Opinion Poll.

One Davlikar brother is harping on Bikinis saying it is not a Bharati cultural dress code.  What do we care for Bharati culture? Our culture is a Goan culture which is much distinct from Bharati culture which is cruel and because Goa is much different from Bharat even though Bharat Serkar under crook Nehru forcibly annexed Goa and integrated it with Bharat without taking Goans into confidence. On Goa’s case, Nehru acted worst than the worst dictator Salazar.  This forcible annexation of Goa is wrongly dubbed as Liberation which the Supreme Court of India called a “CONQUEST” and NOT a Liberation. Hence, all the patriotic Goans must henceforth stop using the word Liberation which is legally wrong as per the Supreme Court judgment.

Wearing of Bikinis is against the Bharati culture according to Davlikar but promoting corruption by accepting the BRIBE to award PWD contracts is as per Bharati culture? Can Davlikar answer this?

MONEY MAKER PE.VIGARS & PRIESTS.

Further to my article in this forum in the first week of May this year on members of clergy climbing on top to collect money for their personal benefit by making use of the position in the Church, immediately then after our Pope at Vatican also issued a statement condemning the Clergy who follow Jesus for money. I don’t know whether He read the said article or not even though I regularly send one  copy to Vatican yet in his statement the Pope echoed my thoughts as indicated below.

In the month of May this year, our Pope Francis from Vatican commented against those clergy members who by using the Church platform, collect money for them.  Here it is what the Pope has said of the corrupt clergy by condemning them as profiteers and climbers who use the Catholic Church  to make money for them. Said the Pope, “There are climbers in the Church. There are a lot of them. People who follow Jesus for money, try to profit from the parish, the diocese, the Christian community, the hospital, the college. We have known a lot of good Catholics, good Christians.  And then we discover that they have been carrying out somewhat shady dealings. They were real profiteers and they made a lot of money. They presented themselves as benefactors but they took a lot of money and not always clean money”. Further adding, Pope Francis demanded total transparency in all the financial dealings of the Church and of clergy.

As far as I know not a single Pe. Vigar disclosed this comment from the Altar while preaching his homily, however, if Pope Francis had to request the clergy to ask money and other material benefits from the faithful, our Pe. Vigars and other priests would immediately disclose this loudly with top priority. According to one source from Vatican, Pope Francis is very much disappointed with the indiscipline of the Bishops and Priests who are on loot spree by sucking the blood of the faithful. It looks Pope Francis is aware of the loot systematically conducted in our Churches also and this loot will never end unless there is complete transparency of all the financial dealings and financial matters of our Church.

Is our Goa Church maintaining total transparency in its financial dealings? Does it show transparency in the money it spends, especially the money it collects from the faithful? Is there any discipline for the Church authorities and clergy to collect money from the faithful?   Our Church leaders and clergy go about ruthlessly like wild animals in collecting money from the faithful.  Last year in the month of August I was on a short vacation in Goa. This incident happened in one Parish below my nose and similar incidents happened elsewhere too. To collect money for that particular Parish, the local Pe. Vigar printed Lottery Tickets, each ticket Rs. 10/- and each book consisting of 20 tickets.  These tickets the Pe. Vigar who is also the principal of the Parish School marketed thru all the students studying in his school by distributing one book to each student.  If there are 3 students from each family then three books to each family. It was a big burden for the children and even for their parents.

Most of the students found it very difficult to sell these tickets however, to please their Pe. Vigar/Principal of the school they even started begging with the people to purchase these lottery tickets. When one young girl student approached one young boy with a request to purchase some tickets from her, the cunning boy said “Not only some but I will buy the whole book provided you come to have sex with me”.  And very deplorably and pitiably the girl having no other choice to dispose of the tickets book, surrendered her body to that stupid boy. This is only one incident which I know but in this way there are innumerable such incidents which gone unnoticed.  And who is responsible for such incidents? Definitely our Pe. Vigars and principals who are acting more like Pimps than Pe. Vigars.

Thru these incidents our Pe. Vigars are creating avenues for our young boys and young girls to commit sins resulting in collecting money, for whom?  Where this money finally goes and into whose pockets?  Surely a portion of this money goes for the maintenance of the Concubines of Pe. Vigars/Principals. In view of this, we have no right to ask God in our daily prayer for “THY KINGDOM COME” because HIS Kingdom will never come to a place where there is Sin promoted thru illicit money making methods of our sinful and corrupt Pe. Vigars and other priests.

Education department of Goa under the ministry of Parricar should investigate into this matter because Pe. Vigar Principals cannot tax the students by unnecessarily burdening them on such money collection business. It is not the job of school students to collect money for the unknown ventures of the Pe. Vigar Principals. At an appropriate time, Education minister of Goa will be notified to take corrective action and to reprimand the guilty.

80TH BIRTHDAY OF MY TEACHER GERALDO PACHECO.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR GERALDO PACHECO.

Mr. Geraldo Pacheco seen sixth from left with his wife.

Yesterday,1st August, it was a very especial occasion for me along with a few of my ex Arpora School colleagues to greet our teacher Mr. Geraldo Pacheco on his 80th birthday, at his residence at Parra, Bardez, Goa.
Thanks to the initiative of my ex colleague Mr. Cipriano from Arpora who currently is holidaying in Goa from UK, we a few of us joined together and visited Mr. Pacheco's place to greet him.
Mr. Pacheco's first assignment as a teacher was at St. Joseph's High School, Arpora, Bardez, Goa, in 1965.  Earlier he was working in Bombay after his graduation in Science. He passed his matriculation thru Arpora school which is the first English High School of Goa. This school then had a very high standard not only in academics but also in sports and other extra curricular activities. Besides being a very good student at Arpora, Mr. Pacheco was a very good sportsman excelling in athletics where Polevault was his forte in which item nobody in Goa could outbeat him at All Goa Interschool Athletics competitions.
I was his student from the day one he joined Arpora where he taught me General Science, Maths, Physics and Chemistry till I finished my SSC.
As a teacher he was excellent and as a human being he was much more than that, for this reason we feel not only like respecting him but more than that, adoring him.  In this direction we grabbed this rare opportunity to go to his place and greet him on this rare occasion, personally.
For me personally, he was not only a great teacher but more than that a great guru, mentor and a great guide who always guided me in the right direction besides helping me to cope up with my studies. Being a top sportsman in Goa as a footballer and an athlete there was lot of distraction on my studies but Mr. Pacheco would immediately come to my rescue.  He wanted me to complete not only my SSC but also graduation. He told me one thing, "for people like us, education is the only mode to cross all the man made barriers".
Otherwise, he was also helpful to other students but on me he focused his attention more because I was then a top sportsman of Goa from that school and since student sportsmen were not known to be good students, he used his wisdom to elevate me in studies as well.
At 80, he is doing well and looks active, enjoying his life well with his wife, children and grand children. This is a big blessing for him from God for the good work he did as a teacher and a human being. Teacher of his type are rarity nowadays because he belonged to that great Goan yesteryears generation.
Sir, I wish you all the best and many more happy birthdays. May God Bless You with good health.

DAVILIKAR'S CRAZE FOR "HINDU RASHTRA".

$
0
0

Mr. Dhavalikar, who belongs to Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), recently in the Goa Legislative Assembly disclosed his feelings openly for the establishment of a "Hindu Rashtra". This is nothing new for me because from the time of Bharati Military illegally entered Goan territory and forcibly annexed our non-Bharati Goa, these MGPvadis were clamouring for Hindu Rashtra thereby turning Goa into this fold as well.  Those who embraced MGP were ignorant people who hated non-Hindus. They hated Goan Christians and wanted liquidation of them from Goa.  Hinduism does not show the road to hate other religions. Hinduism is a good religion and tolerant. But Goan MGP Hindus at least majority of them wanted Hindu Rashtra and persons like Davlikars are remnants of that ideology. They will never change till they die.

On 17th December 1961, at about 7.30 PM my elder brother an employee of Goa Police department, in front of the Candolim Church got down from the Caminhao. He was posted at the border post where as a technician he was effecting some maintenance work.  Since he saw the Bharati military entering non-Bharati Goan territory, he along with his colleagues was sent home by their superior. Hence, he flashed the news of what he saw at the border to our Pe. Cur Pe. Marcos Menezes who was standing in front of the Church along with me and one Dhobi, Esso by name.who was waiting for Pe. Marcos Menezes to give his money for the clothes he washed. The news that my brother flashed was this: “PE. CUR, TE BHITOR SORLET”,meaning the Bharati Millitary already entered Goa.

Hearing this, Esso jumped like a Spring with all happiness and excitement and screamed loudly saying “JAI MAHARAJ, JAI SWARAJ, JAI HINDU RAJ” and started running speedily like Usein Bolt sprinting 100 metres, towards his home at Orda, to convey these tidings to his family and others of his ideology. Then while running he screamed saying, GOEM ATAM MUKTH ZALEM, ATAM AMCHEM HINDU RAJ ZALEM, TUMCHEO IGROZO ANI KOPELAM ATAM AMI MODDTELET AND TUMKAM AMI KOBAR KORTELET”.

Esso was a very poor Dhobi who came with the clothes of Pe. Marcos after washing and waiting for his money from Pe. Marcos Menezes.  Then he would go to Orda Tinto, buy some fish, rice and have one “Kotti” of Caju Fenni at Orda Taverna and go home where his wife was waitng for the rice and fish to prepare the dinner. But Esso forgot everything because he got his Eureka in Mukth Raj to make Hindu Rashtra. That was his life ambition which just got erupted after remaining hidden for a long period.

Then immediately following the annexation of Goa, Truckloads of scrap Hindus from North Goa including from Siolim constituency started moving on the roads by playing Hindu Band all over Bardez and on the way picking up men of their ideology to demonstrate their feelings of happiness over the dethroning of Portuguese Raj in Goa by Bharati Fouz. From my locality men like Esso and his friends also joined these demonstrators who were craving for Hindu Raj. These demonstrators were shouting slogans like JAI HIND, JAI SWARAJ, JAI HINDU RAJ, NEHRU ZINDABAD, SALAZAR MURDABAD.

In my village persons like Balkrishnan were firing crackers in front of Christian houses and shouting slogans like “ATAM KHUIM GELO RE TUMCHO SANT FRANCIS XAVIER? GOYAM ATAM AMCHEM HINDU RAJ ZATELEM”.

Later on I saw all these people joining MGP as its strong supporters including Esso and Balkrishnan. It is this type of people who brought MGP to power who blindly and ignorantly thought Goa would be converted into a Hindu Raj.  They craved for Hindu Raj because they hated Christians.  They were ignorant of India’s structure and Constitution. Davilikar is one such person having firm roots in fanatic communal party Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party. Since this is the case, what good one can expect from him? Davilikar brothers and a few of them are the last remaining remnants of once powerful MGP that brought disgrace on Goa. Very shortly they will evaporate like an Ether and with them their ideology will disappear. However, the earlier they disappear the better it is for us to live a peaceful life. By the way, will ever they allow us to live in peace? I doubt very much.

WHAT IS BETTER FOR GOA? SPECIAL STATUS OR AUTONOMY OR TOTAL INDEPENDENCE?

$
0
0

SPEPCIAL  STATUS for Goa has been rejected by the Central government ruled by BJP and headed by Premier Narendra Modi who during the last electioneering in Goa assured SS to Goa.  However, this SS request has been rejected by the Modi government on the grounds that it is unconstitutional though such requests elsewhere in India has been granted but why not for Goa?  If it is not feasible to grant, why Modi blindly promised SS to Goa? Is he a mad man to give false promises?  If yes then how Indians can rely on him?  To get votes from Goans for his party he should not give false promises  and thereby lower the dignity of Premier of India. In view of this, how the world leaders whom he is meeting in India and abroad will trust him? I think it is a shame for India to have such an untrustworthy premier at the helm of affairs.

After Modi government came to power at the Center, Parrikar confidently made a statement saying that he will have no need to go to Delhi to get his  demands approved but just he will speak over the telephone to Modi and get the needful done. But, now in the case of SS demand after rejecting by Modi government he aasured Goans that he will go to Delhi shortly to discuss this issue with the Premier Modi.  It is now surprising that why Parrikar as stated earlier cannot get this demand telephonically?  Is there any rift cropped up between CM and PM for this reason the PM rejected Parrikar’s demand to humiliate him in front of Goans thereby putting the Goans into inconvenience?  Besides, what stops Parrikar from enacting a legislation that prevents outsiders from buying Goan land? According to experts, State government is also empowered to deal with this subject as per the wishes of Goans but unfortunately Parrikar is hiding this subject.

It is now confirmed beyond any doubt that both the PM and CM are liars who by telling lies to the Goan voters got both the BJP candidates elected. According to one source, our demand papers had some flaws.  If it was the case, why an expert advice was not sought by Parrikar before drafting our demand?  And why in this case Modi did not return the papers for correction?  Was it that difficult to do this?

One thing is certain,  Goans in general have lost their confidence in Parricar to do anything good to Goa and Goans.  By the time the SS issue is sorted out, Goa will be filled with more and more non-Goans who will purchase Goan land and erect their own settlements. I think this is what Parricar wants to degoanise Goa and thus silence the voice of Goans for SS.

By the way, is SS demand a correct demand by the Goans?  Or better still Autonomy?  Or still more better the demand for outright independence since Nehru as promised failed to conduct the referendum on this after he forcibly annexed Goa to Bharat?  According to one source, to close the case of Goa’s annexation once and for all, Nehru gave Opinion Poll to Goa thinking that MGP will win and Goa will be integrated with Maharastra thus liquidating Goa from the Map. But our victory in the Opinion Poll has surprised the Central leadership and kept the Goa’s issue open for further necessary action.

Goa’s case is totally different from the other territories in India because at the time of India’s independence Goa was not a part of India.  Goa was invaded by India much later without the consent of Goans. One of the renowned Indian leaders Morarjee Desai opposed Goa’s invasion, so too Mahatmah Gandhi earlier when he was alive after India’s independence. Without giving heed to the saner counsel, Nehru invaded Goa dubbing it as Liberation and thereby imposing Indian citizenship on Goans against their wishes. I am an Indian citizen not by my own choice but by force imposed from Delhi without my consent.

In view of this, will it be wrong for Goans to demand total independence for Goa to avoid step motherly treatment to Goa which was not done even during the Portuguese time when Goa was given much better treatment.  Though it sounds difficult yet there is no harm in placing this demand before  the Government of India very decently and very peacefully.  India being a topmost democratic country, will surely give a keen hearing to this demand.  Can we try by raising our voice in this direction? If by raising this issue we will not get anything then by remaining silent will we gain anything?

Finally, those politicians who gave promises of resigning from their posts if their demand of SS is rejected, now,  if they are real sons and real daughters of their real fathers then they will submit their resignations and honour their words.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR TIATRISTS.

$
0
0

Through our misfortune, Goa had to face the rule of 2 dictators during the last one hundred years;  one dictator from Portugal and the other from Goa.  Salazar was the dictator from Portugal and Bandodcar from Goa. Both these dictators rigidly applied their dictatorship to Tiatro and Tiatrists. During Salazar’s dictatorship in Portugal, freedom of speech was suppressed ruthlessly, this suppression was applied in the Portuguese colonies as well or in overseas Portuguese colonies, as they were then called.  It was not only in Goa but in Portugal itself the free thinkers and democrats suffered more because of suppression of freedom of speech.

During Portuguese time in Goa after Salazar came to power, Censorship on Tiatros and on Press was introduced, that means, no criticism of government and its machinery from  the Stage and Press tolerated.  Vavraddeancho Ixtt,  the Konkani Weekly was the victim of this law somewhere in 1958 when it was suspended for 3 months for writing a critical editorial.

As for Tiatro, because of the censorship, no Tiatrist could write a Tiatro against the government policy nor sing a song against the government and its policies. In order to maintain this Censorship, the village Regidores compulsorily attend the Tiatros organized in the villages, to supervise the Stage proceedings that there was nothing against the government.  Otherwise, criticism against anybody was tolerated.  For this reason, those days’ Tiatrists used to criticize heavily the Goan Brahmin Bhattkars for their misdeeds against Mundkars and non-Brahmins.

Tiatrist always stood for justice for downtrodden and suppressed and harassed Goans. When Dayananda Bandodcar the first Chief Minister of invaded Goa tried to liquidate Goa and Konkani and also started working against the interest of genuine Goans, Tiatrists in Goa from the Stage challenged him. Having no teeth to absorb this challenge and in order to force them to surrender to him, he introduced censorship on their script and songs.  The great political Trio of Conception-Nelson-Anthony whom Bandodcar was terribly afraid, was his target.  During that short period of censorship, this Trio suffered a lot as best of their political Trio songs remained unsung till all three of them once came on to the Stage in full black dress and covered their faces with black handkerchiefs, escorted by M. Dod de Verna and to his questioning the Trio answered as dumb singers thereby giving an impression that their mouths were gagged.  This was in late sixties. Still some other Tiatrists raised this issue from the Stage fearlessly supported by the UG members in the Goa Legislative Assembly till Bandodcar relented.

Tiatrists are a big fear for the government for its misdeeds and because of this fear Bandodcar was more afraid of the Trio Kings for their piercing political songs than of all the gigantic 12 MLA’s of Opposition UG Party. Tiatrists created more awakening against the government misdeeds and their campaign has greater effect on the masses as well as on the elites.

Similarly, Parrikar government is afraid of the  mighty voice of the Tiatrists against his government and its ministers for this reason recently Francis de Tuem was arrested. And now to make the Tiatrists totally Dumb against the government and its ministers, two days back Margao’s Ravindra Bhavan issued a circular whereby the Tiatrists were asked to sign an undertaking not to criticize Ministers and MLA’s,  if they want to hire the Hall for staging their Tiatros.

This is another form of Censorship thru back door by the Hall management headed by the BJP stalwart Damu Naik who disclosed his ignorance on this Undertaking. Can we accept this answer from Damu Naik? Without his knowledge and approval can any document get released? Was there no nod for this Undertaking from the top man of BJP in Goa?  I think from behind the curtain, all are involved in issuing the Undertaking but only after they felt the pulse of the reaction, they washed their hands like Pontius Pilate.

From this incident, Tiatrists must be careful of BJP government in Goa. This issue of Hall and censorship should make the Tiatrists to think of having one Hall in Margao built by their own private capital and owned by them jointly.  Money collection should not be a difficult task. But there must be a will and for that matter a very strong will. For the late Antonette de Calangute’s Kidney operation fund, within a short time the Tiatrists collected so many lakhs. In the case of Hall construction, they can form their own company as we Kuwaitcars did and built our own Hotel Goan Heritage at Calangute. Besides, with so many intelligent brains among them, they can easily go ahead in this project.

TIATRO "AKANTVADI GOEANT NAKA".

Finally after announcing the cancellation of the tiatro “AKANTVADI GOEANT NAKA” by Tausif de Navelim, it was successfully staged at 5.30 PM instead of at 3.30 with the capacity crowd at Vidya Niketan Hall, Margao.  Congratulations to the director Tousif de Navelim and his entire troupe who fully co-operated with him in staging this Show.  Special appreciation goes to Kennedy Afonso, Vijay Sardesai, Reginaldo Lourenco and others who strongly stood by the director in staging this Tiatro.  Special appreciation goes to the Margao Police Chief for providing over a hundred Police personnel in and around the Hall with Sniffing Dogs and Metal Detectors. Never in the history of Tiatro such a massive Police protection was provided for a particular Tiatro Show.  However, this was imperative due to the threats issued by the Muthiallik’s supporters to the director.

By going ahead in staging this Show, the dignity and prestige of Goans was protected otherwise it would be a big victory for Muthalik and his group of Hindu fanatics who speak the language of Swords as against the language of non-violence of civilized and decent Hindus.  In this whole scenario, the greatness of Goans came on to the surface and thru this it was proved to everyone that Goans are not cowards and they are not wearing ladies Bangles.  Thru this victory for Goans, Muthallik and his group and also his supporters got a resounding humiliation. Now, Muthalik and his group and supporters must think twice before venturing into Goan citadel.

It was surprising to know that there was no presence in and around the Hall of any member of GOA Tiatro Academy.  Their aloofness from this scenario keeps everyone in suspense.   I feel they once again proved to be traitors and cowards because they failed to stand by their colleagues in Tiatro fraternity when their colleagues in distress needed them the most. It is better they should abdicate  their Thrones which made them artificial heroes.

While concluding, I salute Tousif de Navelim for staging his Tiatro so successfully and keeping the honour of Goans to the pedestal.
