HISTORY OF TIATRO AND "ZUPATTIS".

The origin of the Tiatro was started with the concept of correcting somebody for doing something not correct.  Earlier, this job was undertaken by the "Zagor" when in the form of “Zupattis” the wrong deeds and the wrong system followed by the Brahmin Bhattkars and others were exposed from the Stage.  So much so, being unable to digest these Zupattis, the Bhattkars dubbed the Zagors as mode of entertainment for the third class Goans.  So also, Tiatro was considered by the Brahmin Bhattkars as mode of entertainment for the lower strata of Goan society.  A hundred years back acting in Tiatro was considered as profession of illiterate and low class of people. So much so, some parents refused to marry their daughters to a Tiatrist boy who normally during those days lacked good discipline, etiquette and education.  In general, the Tiatrist in one word was considered beyond the Stage as a man of vices including that of drinks.

Many of the earlier topmost Tiatrists including the legendary Minguel Rod were the first class drunkards but genius in their art of Tiatro as script writers or singers or song composers.  They were all naturally talented and with meager resources and facilities at their disposal they turned out to be exceptionally talented as Tiatrists. It was their stage genius during those days that changed the mindset of the Goans and minimized the ill effects of the social barriers created by the upper class of Goans even in the Church, of course with the consent of the Clergy.

Tiatros and Zupattis or Criticism in the Play or in the Sideshow songs are the part and parcel of the Tiatros. Without Zupattis the Tiatros could not be successful, be it the Zupatti for the fellow Tiatrists, Bhattcars or Brahmins or for the ruling class or for the local Pe. Vigars and Pe. Curs for their illicit sex with the local females.  During the earlier days, Tiatrists directed their Zupattis against the Brahmin Bhattcars as we saw in most of the Tiatros of Minguel Rod.  Thru Tiatros during those days policy of cleaning of the social evils like Dowry system, harassment of daughter-in-law by the mother-in-law etc. was implemented. As a matter of interest, audience would never enjoy the Tiatro if there was no Zupatti part introduced either in the main plot or in the Sideshow songs.

The Zupattis against the government functioning was started immediately following the invasion of Goa by the Bharat Serkar under the premiership of Nehru.  The first Zupatti for the government  after the Portuguese ouster from Goa was rendered by the great political singer Kid Boxer at Mapusa somewhere in the first quarter of 1962 where he was immediately arrested. Fed up of corruption started in Goa in Bharati style, Kid Boxer said in his solo against the government of India, its system and its people,  the following:

TUM BHITOR SORLAI CHUKON ANI MORTOLOI SUKON, DUSREACHO DHES POCHONA.

TUM PANPOTTI KHATAI ANI POCHU KORUN THUKTAI,  LOZUI KAIM DISSONA.

TUM NESTAI FOKOT VALO ANI KHATAI FOKOT PALO ………………….

The whole solo was a piercing Zupatti against the government of India for illegally invading Goa and turning it into a mess for Non Goans’ benefit.

Then onwards, almost every second Tiatrist started singing Zupatti songs against the government of Goa first headed by Bandodcar.  The most popular Zupatti singers were the Conception-Nelson-Anthony Trio, ROM-REM-ROD Trio, M. Boyer, Remmy Colaco, William de Curtorim, the Trio of Tomazinho Cardoso along with his brother and Volley D’Mello and many others.  Even full Tiatros were scripted based fully on Goan Politics such as “Nationalist” and “Bhondolist”  by Nelson Afonso,  “Amchea Xetachi Pavnni” by Alexinho de Candolim and more.

Because of the political Zupattis there was a lot of improvement in our Goa since Goa government listened more to the voice of Tiatrists aired from the Stage than from the Opposition Benches in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Even the voice of media was ignored but not of Tiatrists especially of Trio Kings of Con-Nel-Ant.

Now, recently on 9th of this month, there was an attempt on the part of Non-Goan Hindu fanatics to stop the tiatro “Akantvadi Goeant Naka” by the young director Tousif  de Navelim.  If it was not for the last minute efforts by the Goa conscious Goans to support the director in going ahead in staging the said Tiatro, it would be a big defeat and a big surrender to the Muthalik diktat by the Goans in general and Tiatro Art in particular. Under the direction of Goa conscious Goan Kennedy Afonso all the Saxttikars challenged the brute might of Mutallik’s gang and helped the director to stage this Tiatro so successfully.

While this scenario was taking place in and around Vidya Niketan Hall at Margao, there was no sign of CM Parrikar inspite of his being the Home Minister of Goa. By keeping his total silence on this episode, Parricar gave an impression that clandestinely he supports Mutalik and his Hindu fanatics.  Very shortly the next Assembly election will come and during that time Parricar and his colleagues will be questioned by the people’s court on this and similar topics.

Lastly, it was very unfortunate that personnel from Tiatro Academy of Goa remained totally aloof from this scenario instead of taking active part in defending the director Tousif de Navelim. Even the role of senior tiatrists of keeping a distance from this whole scenario on 9th August was looked upon with suspicion. They failed to fight for justice for their own colleague.

While concluding, let me quote Prophet Mohammed: When he was asked once “when there will be justice in this world”, thus came the reply: “when everyone of us will gather courage to fight against the injustice committed on to others as if that injustice is committed on to us only,  then only there will be justice in this world”.

WAS THE LATE DAYANANDA BANDODCAR A VISIONARY?

$

Yesterday, 12thAugust  was the 41st death anniversary of Dayananda Bandodcar, the first Chief Minister of invaded Goa. In the Goa Legislative Assembly some MLA’s and Ministers with their flowery speeches in mellifluent tones showered fabulous praises on the late Bandodcar for being visionary and also a promoter of education in Goa, and so on and on. While agreeing to allow them to air their views on Bandodcar,  I should also be allowed to air my views on him though for some my views will not be palatable.  Said the great French writer Voltaire, “I fully disagree with you but to allow you to say what you wish to say,  I will give you all the freedom, if necessary I will even risk my life to allow you to say what you want to say even though I fully disagree with what you say”.

One point raised was Bandodcar’s contribution in laying the foundation for education in Goa.  I disagree with this point.  In fact the real foundation for the education in Goa was laid by the Portuguese Governador Vassalo e Silva when he decreed somewhere  in 1958 a law making Primary education in Portuguese compulsory for every Goan child on attaining the age of 6 and of course, free of charge.  New school premises were  started to build on uniform pattern in Goa, in our side in  Calangute at Sauntavaddo was one.  Those who could not afford to go for higher education were provided facilities to study in Portugal.  Thru this process of compulsory education, the education facilities went into the hands of commoner thereby helping the poor child to attain education.

Secondly, as a genuine Goan, I will never accept that Bandodcar was the lover of Goa and Goans, if he was, he would not work so tirelessly to liquidate the identity of Goa by merging it with Maharastra. He disliked everything Goan, Konkani language being on top of his list and for this reason he wanted to convert Goa into a Marathi land.

Somebody said he was the Secular by core.  I disagree with this point too.  He was the worst communal having aligned himself covertly and overtly with Hindus.  For him only in Hindu community there existed Bahuzan Samaz. And what about in Christian community?  Even  in government jobs, preferential treatment was given to Hindus.  During his rule, Christians in Goa were made to admit that they are not full-fledged Goans while Hindus were.

One thing I must admit that at the later stage of his rule, he was a very changed man in favour of Goa and Goans but it was too late when irreparable damage for Goa and Goans, meantime, has already been done.  To bring this change in him, genuine Goans especially common men mainly from Christian community had  to face lot of difficulties.  Because of his support for merger of Goa with Mahastra genuine Goans like me had to face lot of hurdles to survive in Goa. It was during this period many of the genuine Goans preferred to leave Goa for their survival in the name of greener pastures elsewhere. He was an architect of deGoanisation process of Goa.  He was fully responsible for splitting the Goans on communal lines with the excuse of helping only the Hindu Bahuzan Samaz. He killed the peace of mind of all those Goans supporting Goan identity and communal harmony.  For Goans supporting Goan causes, when they see his Statues in Panjim, Calangute and now in Porvorim, it will remind them nothing good in him but everything anti-Goan and communal.

His death was a big blow to all his “Chamchas” who gained maximum material benefits for them and for their family members. However, inspite of all his flaws and mistakes he committed against Goa and Goans, I pray to God to give his soul eternal rest.

CANDOLIM'S FEASTS.

After many years I am present this time in my village Candolim to celebrate the village Church feasts in August, on 13th-14th of Boa Morte Saibinn and on 15th that of Asumpti Saibinn as we used to call then during my younger days. The feast of Assumpt Saibinn was preceded by 14 days Novenas. In between from 13 to 14th August, the feast of Boa Morte is celebrated with much reverence to Boa Morte Saibinn and with top respect and devotion because on 13th August we used to consider as per our tradition as the day when Saibinn Mae died. In fact, in reality, Saibinn Mae never died, we believe that Saibinn Mae was taken alive to Heaven by God. Since, it was considered then as the day of Saibinn Mae’s death, there was obligation on us to mark this day as prayer day. I still remember as a Choir Boy how we used to sing a Hym in our Church on this day as: BOA MORTICHO DISU, ONODVONTH SUKH SONTOSU.
ANJ BODVVE GAIAN KOTIT, NOVUI KORU.
This Hym was lengthy and with accompaniment of Violin by our Church Mistiri, the Hym sounds very beautiful. Unfortunately, now there is no Church Mestiri and nobody knows this Hym either. During our days, we were trained to sing by the Professional Solfist Mestiri while now everything is gone into the hands of Unsolfist Amatuers who do not know the history and tradition of our Church.
This time to my surprise, just at the entrance of the Church, a Tiatro of professional Tiatrists was staged to raise fund for the Church activities. During my days, this type of entertainment was not tolerated since it was considered as the day of the death of Saibinn Mae. Hence, faithful were engaged in prayer in sombre mood and not in merry making at the Church “Adrar”. This change happened because of the change in time which demands collection of money. I feel shortly time will come for the Church Pe. Vigars to organize Ballroom Dance not only at the Adrar but inside the Church itself.
On 15th we celebrated the feast of Assumpt Saibinn preceded by 14 days Novenas. During our days, these Novenas were done in the mornings when we used to bring fresh flowers in small baskets and sing the beautiful Hym “DEVACHE MATE (MAYE), PAVU TUM AMKAM,
“ “ DHIRU DHI AMKAM.
Again, the old system is gone into extinction and Novenas are held now in the evenings giving top priority for money collection which was not existing during our days. During old days money collection in the Church was done only on Sundays and on any other feast day.
On 15th yesterday, another Tiatro “OSLEO CHUKI GOEMKAR KORTAT” by Comedian Ambe was staged at the same place on Church Adrar. It was scheduled to start at 7.30 PM but due to lethargic attitude of the Church, the organizer, it finally started at 8.30 PM, that means, one long hour late and because of this late the audience was put into inconvenience. This is the very bad habit of the Candolim Church authority to ignore the discipline of time schedule. And to make the matter worse, the Church Pe. Vigar unnecessarily lengthened his prayer by talking something not required at that particular late hour. He should know that people are coming by paying money to see the Tiatro and not to listen to his speech. It is okay what he does in the Church by preaching lengthy sermons till faithful are fed up but the same behavior he cannot apply outside the Church Altar. He should know that Tiatro Stage is different from the Church Altar.
The story of the Tiatro was good but comedy part was noisy not in tune with traditional Tiatro. Unnecessarily shouting and screaming demoted the quality of the Tiatro. The scene where Ambe shown undressing himself even by removing his Underwear looked ugly and filthy. The sideshow songs were good including by the young girl guest artiste from Candolim.

After discussing and conducting the days agenda at the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 15TH AUGUST 2014, the outgoing Managing Committee left the podium so as to elect the office bearers for the season 2014-2015.

Accordingly, the House nominated Mr. V.K. Vohra of Indian Strikers as a commissioner and Mr. Xavier Furtado of AVC to assist in conducting the elections.

After long efforts the House failed to elect the nominated members for post of the President. This resulted in discontinuation of the election process.

Mr. V.K. Vohra suggested to the House that since the House has failed to elect a President, it shall be advisable to have an Ad-hoc Committee to continue the administrative work for three months and within the period of three months an EGM should be called to elect a new managing committee.

Mr. Raymond pointed out that there is no provision in the KIFF constitution for such Adhoc committee. At this juncture the House agreed to put in place the Ad-hoc committee as special case.

The House proposed the candidates for the AD-HOC committee and the following were appointed:
1. Mr. .L.M. Pinto – YRC (Chairman).
2. Mr. Carmo Santos- Santos united (Member).
3. Mr. Salvador Dias- KGA (Member).
4. Mr. Anthony  Corriea – DHL (Member).
5. Mr. Dominick Pereira – AVC (Member).

The House was unanimous in electing the above AD-HOC COMMITTEE for a period of three months (the tenure: 15/11/2014) and it should be mandatory to convene an EGM to elect a new managing committee.

The outgoing Managing Committee was asked to handover all the records, documents and cash in hand to the chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee.

THE POWERS OF THE AD-HOC COMMITTEE:
The Ad-hoc committee shall have all the powers invested in a managing committee, as provided for in the KIFF constitution and the rules. The Ad-hoc committee shall not contravene the KIFF constitution and other existing rules.

The above is circularized to all the affiliated members of the Federation as recorded by the appointed Commissioners to conduct the elections.

EYEWITNESS TO TIATRO "AKANTVADI GOEANT NAKA"

Seen above is Tausif de Navelim.

Bravo Tousif de Navelim for your excellent Tiatro you staged on 17th of this month at Kala Academy, Panaji, starting exactly at scheduled time 10.30 AM. This Tiatro was attended almost by 900 attendees and it was a total success both as attendance wise as well as performance wise. Thru this Tiatro you spread the message of love, peace and brotherhood.

Seen above is the language of Sword in the name of religion

Somewhere in 1957, Alexinho de Candolim went to Bombay to stage his well-known Tiatro “To Bavtto  Dhormancho”. All the arrangements have been done but suddenly on the eve of the staging of this Tiatro at Bhangwaddy Hall, the news of Alexinho de Candolim’s imminent arrest just before the start of the Tiatro was leaked out, on the grounds that this Tiatro was in support of Portuguese “Bavtto”.  The nationalists based in Bombay like Evargio Jorge and others were on forefront to get Alexinho de Candolim arrested without knowing the contents of this Tiatro but only on assumption that this Tiatro was based on Portuguese Bavtto.  Having no choice, Alexinho de Candolim evading arrest, on the eve of this Tiatro at night time, fled from Bombay on way to Goa. This Tiatro’s story was actually based on our Christian religion and not on politics. But the idiot nationalists unnecessarily wanted to put Alexinho de Candolim into problem.

Baba Cielo singing the most powerful solo against Ghantti opponents of Tiatro.

Similarly, the Hindu fanatics from Karnataka in collaboration with some Goan Hindu fanatics on wrong assumption that the Tiatro “Akantvadi Goeant Nakam” is based on their leader Muthalik,  wanted to stop staging this Tiatro in Goa starting from the scheduled first show at Margao. It was wrong on their part to assume without seeing this Tiatro that it was directly directed against Muthalik and his pro-Hindu organization.  Muthalik and Hindus like him are afraid that their Hinduism may weaken in Goa and to protect it from getting it into weakened they are making desperate attempts to frighten others.  In fact, Hinduism is a very powerful religion and nobody can shake it especially in Goa.

Two beauties of Tiatro, Ophelia & Jane singing the duo.

Why Muthalik only, even the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi himself showed his concern for the survival of Hinduism in India when he said and as quoted by the late Zulficar Ali Bhutto in his masterpiece “If I Am Assassinated” that “If Islam and Christianity are uprooted from India it will still flourish elsewhere in the world but if Hinduism is uprooted from India, it will disappear from this planet. Hence, the need to protect Hinduism in India”.  But by what means? Thru Swords and violence? Violence is against Hinduism because the core of Hinduism is Non-Violence and those who suggest the means of violence to protect Hinduism are doing injustice to the great religion Hinduism.  And by the way, secondly, who the hell are these non-Goans to control us Goans?  What right these outsiders got to dictate us what to do and what not to do? They and for that matter none from outside Goa has authority to dictate us anything.  We know what is good and what is bad for us.

To be concluded.

EYEWITNESS TO TIATRO "AKANTVADI GOEANT NAKA"

Seen above is one scene of cruelty

Since this Tiatro is going to be staged all over Goa, around 40 Shows as per the information, I refrain from disclosing the full story in details but just a gist.

The story is surrounded on three households, well knit neighbours belonging to the three religious communities, namely Hindu, Christian and Muslim. They reside in an area where there is no need to have partition of compound wall.  However, gradually, due to the infiltration in their domain of Satanic Hindu fanatics under the leadership of one Pundalik, the peace in that area is disturbed leading to communal disharmony. But, at last everyone involved in this disharmony realized their mistake.  To see how this happened, one has to watch this Tiatro. The role of Pundalik was nicely played by Andrew who depicts no resemblance of Muthalik.

Seen above 2nd, is Andrew as Pundalik

In late sixties, to challenge the "dadagiri" of Dayananda Bandodcar and to humiliate him, in his Tiatro “Bondolist”, Nelson Afonso introduced one character exactly similar to Bandodcar in shape, face and looks. At least Tousif de Navelim was much considerate in this respect but Nelson was not for  Bandodcar. Playing the role of a Hindu woman, seasoned character artiste Jane excelled very well.  During her stay in Kuwait for over a decade she acted in many Tiatros doing different roles and for that matter extremely well especially in the Tiatros staged by the late Rosary Ferns. She also performed in Mando Festivals we organized in Kuwait proving to be a very good singer. The others who played their roles well were veteran Anil Kumar, Ortencio, Teotonio as Police Inspector and the director himself.

Seen above are comedians Neto & Ortencio

In the comedy segment which had no link with the main story, acrobatic comedian Neto produced peals of laughter in the hall.  He is the natural comedian and currently he according to my observation is one of the top comedians.  Neto was ably supported in the comedy part by his comedy partner Ortencio. This pair currently makes a very good comedians partnership

In the Side Show songs there was a good mixture of Solos and other categories in which every singer performed well. Though some of the big names in the industry were missing yet their absence went totally unnoticed without any importance mainly because of the high quality of the play that totally captivated the minds of the attendees.

One more scene

During the interval, three special invitees namely Mr. Nilkan, Mr. Tomazinho Cardoso  and Mr. Kamat were brought to the Stage to say a few words.  In their short speeches, all three of them showered fabuluous praises on Tousif de Navelim assuring him of their comfort.  But as somebody remarked after the Show, where was this trio sleeping when the first Show at Margao was on the verge of collapse?

While concluding the Show, the writer and director of the Tiatro, in folded hands going on his knees and thanking the people for their total support to him, asked the Goans never to allow Akantvadis to destroy Goa.

Today in Calangute at 4.00 PM the villagers about 200 in number organized a Rally in collaboration with Calangute Panchayat to raise their voice against the illicit activities such as prostitution rampantly going on in Calangute.  The rally started from Calangute Panchayat House and  ended at Calangute Police Station where the organisers handed over a Memorandum to the Police Chief there.  Immediately then, the organisers held a public meeting in front of the Police Station where prominent locals spoke highlighting their demands against the filthy immoral activities going on in Calangute.  The rally was very peaceful.

ANTI-PROSTITUTION RALLY IN CALANGUTE.

The first Hippies who descended on Goa were somewhere in 1963, a male and a female, they landed in Candolim and during the daytime they were spending the whole day on the Candolim Beach and at night time they were sleeping in the Marathi Xalla near Candolim Tinto  They were an English speaking couple in their thirties.  Following year their number increased and in mid Sixties they started moving to Calangute and from there in seventies in big number they moved to Baga and from there to Anjuna-Vagator-Chapora. Thus they captured the whole coastal belt in our area. When they took the possession of Calangute, they grabbed  the liberty of the nature and kindness of the locals to move on the beach and around, topless and even nude on the beach.  Some of them were seen even having sex openly on the beach around the bushes which created a very bad image of the whole scenario.

Rally in progress

Being unable to bear this nuisance in their village, about a hundred villagers from Calangute mainly the females came together under one prominent and highly dignified lady from Tivai Vaddo, Calangute and took a “Morcha” on the streets of Panjim somewhere in mid sixties, shouting slogans against Hippism, Nudism and Sexism in Calangute. They also carried the big Banners and the Posters with the statements like STOP HIPPISM IN CALANGUTE, STOP NUDISM IN CALANGUTE, STOP OPEN SEX IN CALANGUTE, STOP VULGARITY IN CALANGUTE.The responseto this Morcha was tremendous as it attracted the attention of various people in Panjim.  Though, I am not from Calangute, it still captured my mind and heart and I as a young school boy also participated in this Morcha shouting slogans because as a Goan I too felt the shame of vulgarity of Hippism in my neighbouring village Calangute.  Not only this, Goans from all over Goa were also got alerted to the menace of Hippism and accordingly they started to act. When Bandodcar as a Chief Minister of Goa then was alerted of this Morcha, he as a man of strong moral character directed the Security apparatus to stop the vulgarity of Hippism in Calangute. Thru this Morcha, Calangute villagers created a record of being the first people in Goa to raise their voice against vulgarity in Goa.

Sarpanch Clara seen speaking and seen right is Dpty. Sarpanch Subash.

Again on 20th of this month, the huge number of Calangute villagers backed by the Calangute Panchayat and Youth of Calangute, organized a Morcha in Calangute against the illicit Sex business going on in Calangute. The Calangute Panchayat was headed by the Sarpanch Mrs. Clara Fernandes, Dpty. Sarpanch Mr. Subash Salgaocar,  Panch and the well-known local public figure Mr. Joseph Sequeira and other Panchas including the prominent local activists namely the Freedom Fighter and renowned Tiatrist Mr. Cyriaco Dias,  Mr. Kundan Kerkar,  Mr. Umesh Shirodkar, Mr. Uday Shirodkar, Mr. Nitesh Chodonkar, Shanker Kerkar and others.

Seen speaking is Cyriaco Dias

The Morcha was started from Calangute Panchayat and ended at the Police Station where a delegation comprising the Sarpanch, Mr. Joseph Sequeira, Kundan Kerkar,  handed over a Memorandum citing their demands to the chief of Calangute Police Station, PI Rajesh Kumar who gave a keen hearing to the delegation assuring of his keenness in fighting for their demands.

Joseph Sequeira is seen speaking

What are the demands of the Calangute people?  Their demands as  described by all the speakers, namely Cyriaco Dias, Joseph Sequeira, Alba, Clara, Albert, Clotilde, Dona and Subash, during the public meeting held next to the Police Station immediately after handing the Memorandum to the Police Chief, are as follows:
1: Stop the illegal Prostitution going on illegally in Calangute, conducted openly and boldly by the outsiders and migrants.
2. Stop the Spa and Sex Massage facilities provided by the Hoteliers in the name of tourism promotion.
3.  Stop the Package facilities provided for the tourists while renting the Hotel rooms.  Package facility means the renting of a room with a girl for Sex.
4.   Stop the migrant Touts roaming in Calangute on the roads soliciting the customers for the Package facilities.
One more speaker seen addressing the Meet.

This Morcha, Memorandum and Public Meeting were the need of the hour not only for Calangute but also for other neighbouring coastal areas and elsewhere in Goa.  It was a wakeup call for the entire Goa to rise up against the illicit Sex business illegally promoted by the migrants and other outsiders who do not care for the Goan discipline of high morality, Goan tradition, Goan culture, Goan way of life and Goan decency.
Yet another speaker seen addressing the gatherin

Once again maintaining its tradition, Calangute raised its voice against the degradation of Goan morality by the outsiders. What is affecting for Calangute also affecting for Goa and as a genuine Goan it is affecting me too.  Hence, I openly support people of Calangute fighting against the illicit Sex trade promoted by the outsiders. This menace of outsiders if Calangute cannot liquidate then none in Goa can do. Now it is become imperative for every genuine Goan to liberate Goa from the migrant Pimps wrongly and illegally selling Goan image to the Sex maniacs descending on Goa in the name of tourists. Come on genuine Goans and wage a war against those migrants who are all out to destroy Goa.

Today, 24th August, Sandra Cardoso, the beloved wife of Eugenio Cardoso celebrated her 50th birthday at Penha de Fransca Party Hall, at 01.00 PM in the presence of about one hundred guests.

Sandra Cardoso is a great wife of her great husband Eugenio Cardoso who attained great feat on the soccer field by being one of the best keepers in Goa, he played for Dempo Sports Club and also on Athletics field by being a good runner.

Sandra Cardoso an educationist by profession is a great mother of both her great children, son Ricardo and daughter Steffi both of whom represented India in soccer and athletics respectively. Both the children Ricardo and Steffi first time created a unique record in India by representing the nation in their capacity as brother and sister.

Speaking about Steffi Cardoso, the then Chief Minisiter of Goa Prataphsingh Rane said: "The Pride of Goa .....that's Steffi Cardoso.  Steffi is the first female and only second Goan after Sequeira to achieve an international feat".

FRAUD ON ROMAN SCRIPT KONKANI.

“Ghorcho Bhedi Bhailo Chor ?”…...  Fraud on the Roman Script

Each time the leaders  of Romi Konknni Movement meet for a discussion anywhere, there is one particular sentence one gets to hear over and over again and that is  “The Clause in the Official Language Act of Goa 1987: Konkani means Konkani in Devnagari Script , was the biggest fraud of the 20th Century”.

Each time I hear this, I go home and think to myself if indeed there was a ‘fraud’ of such a magnitude then who are the people responsible for this “fraud” and if we know who they are, why have we let them go scot-free?

Unfortunately for me , I was not in Goa during this period and as a result did not have the faintest idea as to who all could these fraudsters be. Neither was there anyone willing to provide me with the
answers.

I started wondering as to why people want to keep this part of the
game under wraps. Why this suspicious silence?

My inquisitiveness to investigate made me probe for answers at every
opportunity I got. Who could be the main architects of this “fraud”
and why  are they left to go scot-free?

I said to myself , let me begin from the beginning. First of all, who
were the interested parties? Meaning who were the “stake-holders”?

Then I noted:
a) The Government of Goa , Daman & Diu.
b) The Opposition Parties in the Assembly.
c) The Independent M.L.As.
d) The People of Goa, Daman & Diu.

It is but logical to believe that at that time all the stake-holders
were consulted, discussions held and compromise-formulae worked out.

Now, as the subject of discussion was Goa and Konkani I’d like to, for
the present, leave out Daman & Diu and their interests in the Official
language Act of 1987.  Let me concentrate on Goa and Konkani alone and
the so called “fraud”.

This “fraud”, as I understand means depriving “Romi Konknni not only
of it’s rightful place in the Official Language Act of Goa 1987 but
also  was a conspiracy to kill Romi Konknni and propell Devanagari
Konknni into prominence.

There is a famous saying in Konkani  “Ghorcho Bhedi, Bhailo Chor”
which means  to say, “An outsider cannot rob a closed house without
having an insider for an accomplice”.  To make this analogy more
relevant in the present context , I’d like to take the entire
Political System and the Devanagari Lobby as “Outsiders” and the
protagonists of Romi Konknni as “Insiders”.

I am told that some of the Romi Konknni Leaders who are still around
and were a part of the “Konknni Porjecho Avaz (KPA)” then, were called
for consultations on the issue and they tell us that  in the Original
Draft of the Bill there was no “clause” at all mentioning “Konkani
means Konkani in Devanagari Script”  and that this “clause” was
introduced only at the last minute without consulting any one of them.

They further add that , even they came to know about this “clause”
only on the morning of the day, namely 05 February 1987 through local
English news papers. The Official Language Bill was introduced in the
assembly on 17th July 1986 and it was passed in the Assembly on 04
February 1987. The people  had no reason to doubt their own leaders.
The entire rank and file of the Romi Konknni users accepted this as a
“fraud” , as told to them, and set about their work of bringing an
amendment to the Bill to rectify the “fraud”.

It was an uphill task and many Romi Konknni Leaders are , even as I
write, working towards this end. Still however, in the midst of all
this work the thought of how a people’s Government could  commit a
“fraud” on the same people who elected it , kept bothering me ie. how
our leaders of Romi Konknni were kept uninformed of such a major
change in the final draft of the Bill.

I also often wondered why “this  bothering thought “ keeps popping up
in my mind from time to time.  But now, I finally know the reason why.
There is a reason. There is always an explanation to everything that
happens. There has to be.

Recently, while on an another work of Romi Konknni, I was browsing
through some old newspapers and I accidentally came across a page of
“Herald” Wednesday dated 9th July 1986, and there it was. An answer to
my “bothering thoughts”. An “expose” of a lie deliberately hidden
under the carpet for so many years.

On the newspaper was printed the final draft of the Official Language
Bill of Goa 1987 prepared not at the last minute by the Government but
much in advance somewhere around 1986.  The same final draft leaked
out and reached the office of Herald and Herald brought it out in
print on the 9th July 1986. The final draft of the Bill was there for
everyone to see complete with the clause  “Konkani language means the
language in Devnagiri Script”.
Then who are these Romi Konknni leaders who tells us that they came to
know of this “Clause” only on the morning of the day the Bill was
tabled in the House?

The final draft of the Bill was there in the Herald for everyone to
see , 7 months before it was tabled. Were our Romi Konknni leaders the
only ones who did not read this issue of Herald? Or, is it that our
Romi Konknni leaders had taken all of us for  a ride ? The reason was
now crystal clear to me and for everyone else to see.

There was definitely an “injustice” but  there was no “fraud” of the
type our Romi Konknni  leaders claim to have taken place. We were sold
off by our Romi Konknni leaders who were in KPA.  It was,  as the old
Goan Romi Konknni saying  goes  “Ghorcho Bhedi Bhailo Chor”.

INJUSTICE ON ROMI KONKANI.

$

It is 27 years now since in the name of recognizing Konkani by the Goa government in both the scripts – Romi & Nagri -, Konknni has been recognized in Nagri script only. According to the information, the Goa government has granted this recognition also with the silent nod of KPA that favoured only the Nagri script and  NOT the Romi script.

Konkani Porjecho Avaz (KPA) was a body comprising members from both the segments of Konkani – Romi as well as Nagri. This body was formed under the skippership of hardcore Nagrivadi Pundalik Naik. In fact besides him there were others also hardcore Nagrivadis in KPA. In fact they were more hardcore than Pundalik Naik but since Pundalik Naik was coming from Non-Brahmin segment, the more hardcore Nagrivadis installed Pundalik Naik as head of KPA to get better and more acceptance to KPA especially from the masses though he was thru remote control guided by the more hardcore Nagrivadis inside and outside the KPA.

During this period I was in Kuwait where beside my job I was also promoting the cause of Konkani along with other friends and colleagues of mine. We from Kuwait were financing Konkani movement in Goa by pouring lakhs of rupees and since KPA was on the forefront to fight for Konkani, we financed KPA also.  In fact when Damodar Mauzo a member of KPA pleaded with us to help finance the big Rally and Meeting at Azad Maidan Panjim we sent almost a lakh of rupees from Kuwait for this event.  Besides, money also started flowing thru other sources from Kuwait including to Goan politicians for this event in Goa.

Then when hectic activities were going on for the final push for this movement, I came on vacation to Goa and as a General Secretary of Kuwait Konknni Kendr that was instrumental in promoting the cause of Konkani in Kuwait, I was welcomed by the  KPA members in their midst most warmly.  Then I participated in number of Rallies in Panjim in support of Konkani and even received Lathis from the Ghantti Hawaldars from Rane government. Then I participated in the Hunger Strike conducted at Azad Maidan Panjim starting with 5 days continuously by Datta Naik, Dilip Borkar and Dioniz Diniz whom I also joined on the 3rd day and this was followed by the Chain Hunger Strike for a long time.

On the eve of my return back to Kuwait, at Keni Hotel Panji, KPA invited me as an observer only for their crucial meeting which was attended besides other members, by Tomazinho Cardoso, Erasmo Sequeira, Mauwin Godinho, Mathanay Saldanha and chaired by Pundalik Naik. During this particular meeting I have observed that the Nagri camp in KPA was wielding strong power to sway the decisions in their favour, whatever those decisions may be.  Romivadis were acting like slaves of Nagrivadis without being firm on Romi script though outside they may say anything. Even the late firebrand Mathanay Saldanha was not firm in his view on Romi script.  Erasmo Sequeira inspite of being the seasoned supporter of Romi cause was just silent while the major part of the talk was done by the Nagrivadis.

Whatever they may be but one thing I noticed in some Romivadi members of KPA an enormous amount of inferiority complex and in few the ancestral inferiority complex which gave them the sense of accepting them as lower than the others. And here, the cunning Nagrivadis from KPA capitalized. Nagrivadis recognized that there was not a single hardcore Romivadi in their midst to fight valiantly for Romi cause.  Besides, the cunning Nagrivadis in KPA created a hoax by putting fear into the minds of Romivadis that there may not be a possibility for the recognition of Konkani if both the scripts are indicated, hence priority must go for Nagri.  To oppose this hoax there was not a single hardcore Romivadi in KPA. For this reason Nagrivadi scored an off side goal against Romi Konkani while Romivadis watched this  goal  as spectators.

From here what I noticed, because I had no voice there in KPA being only an observer, I showed my dissatisfaction to a few Nagrivadis outside but they pacified me saying “Don’t worry, proper justice will be done”. They were very much careful of my aggressive posture while dealing with them on this topic and the money matters we sent from Kuwait. So much so, one of them even told his other Nagrivadis in KPA to avoid talking to me till he goes back to Kuwait. Moreover, one junior politician came with his gang of a few youth to threaten me in the reception of Keni Hotel and to silence my voice from exposing the names of the recipients of Kuwait money. Incidentally, that “one politician” was also one of the recipients of money from Kuwait.

That the KPA Nagrivadis will betray the Romivadis was a sure fact but that the KPA Romivadis like “Baizona” will surrender to the chicanery  of Nagrivadis was also a sure fact. Our so called Romi stalwarts are “Ponch” Romivadis, they want Konkani only to promote themselves in society, and they want Konkani only to keep themselves afloat in public life in Goa. Our efforts from Kuwait for the cause of Konkani were much higher because we worked for the cause and not to promote ourselves in public life. And as a matter of fact we worked for Konkani cause in Kuwait with lot of difficulties.  It was not an easy task in a foreign country where local laws and customs are totally different from our country.

The very person who claimed to be the promoter of Romi Konkani cause when he was elected to Goa Legislative Assembly of course unexpectedly he did nothing to promote the cause of Romi Konkani till the end of his term in GLA. When he was a member of GLA he was acting like a feudal lord not even wishing some of his Konknnivadis but now “churchure tache” because even a “Kuddo Mus” is not caring him in his locality. Now no Pilot Car and no other government facilities for this reason his “Suberbai” is gone down.  He belied our expectations by ignoring Romi cause when he had vast influence as a member of GLA where he was holding an important position. It is a pity that our people when they reach to the position of power they fail in their duty by forgetting their past.  This is the quality of “Ladru – Pedru” type of Goans.

I don’t accept the version that there was a last minute change in the terminology of the draft Konkani Bill where it was stated that “Konkani means Nagri script Konknni”.  This statement “Konkani means Nagri script Konknni” was included much earlier and NOT at the last minute and as such every KPA member had an access to this draft bill to check.  However, if Romivadi members of KPA have failed to check this then they failed in their duty and thus they betrayed the Romi segment of their trust.  They are all to be treated as traitors and as such they should be boycotted from campaigning and talking for Romi cause. Moreover, the genuine Romivadis who are on forefront currently to fight for the cause of Romi  Konkani must call a public meeting either in Margao or in Panjim to protest over the mishandling of this issue. Posterity should know who betrayed the Romi Konkani otherwise posterity will judge the history on this topic wrongly.

The Romivadi traitors who betrayed Romi Konkani should be discarded from Romi circle otherwise they will discard Romi from Konkani itself.

REMEMERING THE LATE 10 TIATRISTS.

Yesterday, 27th inst., Tiatr Academy Goa, organized a function in Panjim to mark the birthdays of all the late Stage artistes born in this month. They were altogether Ten artistes, the prominent being Saib Rocha, C. Alvares, Minguel Rod, Alfred Rose, Shalini and Rosary Ferns.
Fatima spoke on 5 artistes including on Minguel Rod and Rosary Ferns while William spoke on others detailing their contribution in the promotion of Konkani Stage Art.

As a President of the Academy, Prince Jacob welcomed the gathering comprising about 50 attendees and singled out my presence there in the hall by specially welcoming me too.  Furthermore, he said that “there is nobody among us besides Veronica who can talk better on Rosary Ferns” and suggested that Veronica  can say a few words on Rosary Ferns after Fatima the scheduled speaker on Rosary Ferns ends her speech. Then Prince Jacob called out my name to come to the Mike but seated on my chair among the audience  I signaled him saying "NO".
There is a saying in Konkani, "Dheklem Moddem ani Ailem Roddnem". This is what it looked  has happened to Prince Jacob. When he knows that I am now Goa based, he could  rightly tell me in  advance so that I could prepare myself for the delivery especially when he admitted that I am the best to speak on Rosary Ferns instead of giving this opportunity to a half baked speaker. This clarification is to all those who asked me why I said "NO".

When unqualified speakers are brought in to talk on any personality then the value of that personality goes down.  Fatima  is not a competent speaker to talk on Rosary Ferns because she knows very little of Rosary Ferns as an artiste and his contribution in the development of Konkani Stage Art, namely as a songster, playwright, actor, director, Mando – Dulpod, Operattas, Audio Cassette and CD. Rosary Ferns carry the unique distinction of producing the first ever Konkani CD and that too from Kuwait. He was the first Goan from the expatriate Goan World to release the first Audio Cassette.  Besides, there is so much to speak and to mention of this great artiste.  As an artiste Rosary Ferns was so big while Fatima Is so small to highlight the greatness of Rosary Ferns. She even goofed in her statement while quoting Shakespeare saying it was in Macbeth that Shakespeare writes “All the World is the Stage”. It was in his last drama “As You Like It” that Shakespeare makes mention of All the World is the Stage and not in Macbeth.

What I notice among us is that any Ladru-Pedru type of a person when requested to talk on any subject he immediately grabs this opportunity without having proper knowledge of the subject.  This has to be stopped if there should be credibility for the function. Talk of cosmetic nature is not tolerated now.  There are competent persons among us who got better knowledge of Saib Rocha, Minguel Rod, C. Alvares and others and some of them were colleagues of these gigantic artistes on the Stage. Just because of greed for money any incompetent person should not opt to speak on the subject of which his or her knowledge is limited.

The organizers should also solicite the services of right persons to speak on the subject in question. But who can do the right selection? Only the Goldsmith can know the authenticity of the gold and not any Altu-Faltu person whoever he may be and whatever position he may hold in the organization.  It is not only the ministerial posts are in the wrong hands but even our own organizations are in the wrong hands, for this reason there is a mess everywhere in Goan community.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Joe Rose requesting for more attendance in the next month for similar event.

As a matter of interest, one of the attendees for this function was young Japanese lady named Mashukawaka Kioko holding a PHD degree and teaching at the University in Kobe Japan as an Asst. Professor. Currently, she is doing research on Tiatro and Konkani.  She speaks Konkani as well.

IN RESPONSE TO VERONICA'S REVIEW.

This is to refer  to A. Veronica’s review on Remembering 10 Tiatrists, in goa-kranti blog on 28.08.14.

Tiatr Academy Goa is run by the concerned Tiatrists as if this Academy is like their fathers’ property. Prince Jacob like Tomazinho Cardos is a selfish man.  Prince Jacob is intellectually bankrupt and hence he prefers intellectually bankrupts only. Precisely because of this he brought in stupid speakers to speak on the dead great tiatrists. Why not Cyriaco Dias, Jessy Dias and Master Vaz who being seniors got better knowledge of the 10 dead tiatrists even having acted with them when they were alive?  Who knows Rosary Ferns better than Veronica?  Who knows C. Alvares and  Alfred Rose better than Cyriaco Dias?  Who knows Saib Rocha and Minguel Rod better than Master Vaz?  Who knows Shalini better than Jessy Dias?

Like Tomazinho Cardos earlier, now Prince Jacob will never invite knowledgeable speakers and because of this poverty people to not come in good number to attend these functions. Prince Jacob is just an ordinary tiatrist but if he thinks he is great then he is mistaken.

Tiartro Academy is financed by the government from the tax payers money and in view of this Prince Jacob and his troupe must act sensible otherwise he should surrender his power to someone who is better qualified.

I am writing this with reference to A. Veronica’s review on 10 Tiatrists, in this column.

Prince Jacob was aware that only Veronica is the most knowledgeable person to speak on Rosary Ferns and yet he asked somebody else to speak and whose knowledge on Roary Ferns is very limited.  If Veronica was fixed in advance he would give lot of important information on Rosary Ferns for the benefit of the audience. Prince Jacob is at fault here, he looked jealous of Veronica inspite of Veronica supporting him so much in Kuwait. Prince Jacob knows very well the great power of Veronica's oratory and yet he acted stupid.
When once Veronica’s article “ROSTAD TIATRIST” appeared in Herald, it was under Prince Jacob’s initiative that one delegation of Tiatrists went to Herald office to lodge a protest against Veronica.  Prince Jacob when in Kuwait kissed Veronica but after returning back to Goa was betraying Veronica. For Veronica Prince Jacob is a big joke and will remain so. Prince Jacob should be grateful to veronica because he learnt a lot from Veronica in Kuwait.

Rosary Ferns was a great Tiatrist whose many songs even without proper permission Prince Jacob sang in Goa but Rosary Ferns never copied anything from Prince Jacob.  Prince Jacob is a perfect copycat.

Can Prince Jacob tell how much each speaker is paid and also how much annual grant government gives to the Academy?

Tiatr Academy under Prince Jacob is manned by impotent leader who had no guts to raise his voice when Francis de Tuem was arrested and Tausif de Navelim’s Tiatr was in problem. I am sure as a cunning man Prince Jacob was enjoying over all the problems Tuem and Tausif were facing.  Tiatr Academy under Prince Jacob is in the hands of wrong person.

TRIBUTE TO THERESA FERNANDES.

                                                              Born Date: 14.08.1950
                                                              Died Date:  08.09.2011

It is now three years since Mrs. Theresa Fernandes died as shown in the photo above.  She was known to me as a young pretty looking and good disciplined girl when she was schooling at Little Flower Convent High School, Calangute, Bardez, Goa. I was then schooling at Arpora and we both passed our SSC together by answering our Board exam together in the same hall at St. Britto’s High School venue, Mapusa.

After completing her SSC, she went to Bombay and later on got married to her husband Jerry Fernandes (Cal), also from Calangute and who was my colleague at Arpora for a long time.  Jerry Cal was a very well known young boy at Arpora School and in his locality as well excelling in sports. He was Table Tennis Champion of Arpora School as well as of Calangute and Carrem Socorro.  Besides, Jerry Cal was number one in Cycle Race both in Cross country 25 kms and in 1500 metres.  Additionally, he was a very popular amateur Tiatrist in his locality and in surrounding villages.   After finishing his SSC he too went to Bombay where he studied Hotel Management and migrated to Abu Dhabi where he worked as an Executive Chef in prestigious 5 Star Hotels.  From here he was sent to UK, Germany and Holland for further studies in Hotel Management.

After getting married to Jerry Cal, Theresa joined her husband in Abu Dhabi and got herself employed at The British Bank of the Middle East later on known as HSBC (Hongkong Sanghai Bank Corp.) where she worked for 27 years till her voluntary retirement.  While in Abu Dhabi, she was involved in lot of extracurricular activities and social work.  She was one prominent lady in Abu Dhabi along with her husband to help raise funds for Konkani movement such as for Novem Goem, Konkani Martyrs, KPA etc.

She along with her husband was instrumental in bringing Tiatro troupes to Abu Dhabi from Goa, namely of M. Boyer, Fr. Fredy J.D’Costa, Menino de Bhandar, C. Alvares, Rosario Rodrigues and Pascoal Rodrigues. In some of the Tiatros she also acted along with her husband and earned a good name for herself.

By using her personal influence and spending money from her own pocket, she brought many poor Goans to Abu Dhabi for employment besides providing some jobless Goans with suitable jobs. She was instrumental in organizing the Feast of St. Francis Xavier in Abu Dhabi for over a decade. Also she was helping to sponsor priests in Goa.

She as a wife and as a mother was very responsible person towards her mission and goals. A woman of very good character she performed her motherly duties very well by bringing up all her 4 children – three daughters and one son, all are married except one daughter - very well,  discipline wise, character wise and educationally. One daughter after completing her BSc did the course in Pharmacy and settled in Abu Dhabi; the other daughter an MBA also working in Abu Dhabi and the third one a spinster after doing her graduation, BBM in Bangalore did her MBA at Cardiff University, UK and currently employed in Abu Dhabi as well.  The son after completing his Hotel Management started his own business in Calangute.

She loved Goa, she loved Konkani and she loved Goan causes and all these attributes she displayed openly while she was working in Abu Dhabi.

In her death three years back, Goa lost a great woman who was ever ready to help any Goan cause. Also, in her death my friend Jerry Cal lost a great supportive and faithful wife and her children lost their great and loving mother.

MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.

TEACHERS DAY OR MODI DAY?

The Teachers  Day on 5th of this month was finally for the first time converted into a Modi Day thereby ignoring the memory of the great educationist Dr. Radhakrishnan on whose birthday this day is celebrated to honour this great educationist.  Dr. Radakrishnan was the giant of an educationist and a very tall philosopher who taught the great Hindu philosophy even at Oxford where even the great President of America, John F. Kennedy during his short stint there attended Dr. Radakrishnan lecturers and got himself educated on Hindu philosophy. Dr. Radakrishnan was the world renown philosopher whose thoughts were very lofty and because of this even Nehru as premier of India was very cautious with him.  In fact Nehru was afraid of him.  India was very fortunate to have such a president because of whom India’s ratings internationally had gone up.

On this day teachers are rested and their duties are taken over by the senior students. However, this year premier Modi bypassed all the traditional exercises and as a Hitler by usurping power in his hands imposed his unwanted lecture on the students, this lecture was understood only by the students who had a perfect command of Hindi. In this case almost half the number of Indian students failed to understand the contents of Modi’s lecture. It was a big tamasha of Modi to wield power to impose on the nation his meaningless lecture.  It was a shame on Modi to ignore the memory of Dr. Radakrishnan and instead foist his own memory on the nation.  In the bargain Dr. Radakrishnan was totally forgotten.  Modi of BJP just like Goa CM Parricar are showing clear signs of Hitlers in the making.

WHO IS THIS IDIOT DOCTOR?

$
0
0

Who is this Idiot Doctor? Asked me by a renowned Kuwaiti Cardiologist once in Kuwait when I went to him to check my cardiac problem. Then he went a little further and again asked me, “since your doctor in Goa is a Psychiatrist, why he interfered in your sickness of Cardiology?” Then he asked me one more question, “is this the normal medical system in Goa?”

It all happened because during one of my vacations in Goa a few years back I went for my check-up to one doctor who happened to be a Psychiatrist and while checking me he noticed some flaws in my heart beats for which he prescribed some medicine.  After returning to Kuwait, I showed that prescription given to me by  the Goan doctor to my regular Cardiologist in Kuwait.  Reading the prescription of my Goan doctor he noticed his designation as Psychiatrist and got annoyed for handling cases not pertaining to his speciality. Hence, he remarked saying “Who is this idiot Doctor?”.

In Mapusa till recently there was one Orthopedic doctor/surgeon practicing at one of the Private Hospitals but he was handling any type of patients including Cancer patients and unfortunately every Cancer patient he operated died.  Yet he was not changing his dirty habit of not sticking to his specialty.

In Salcete there was one doctor/surgeon whose speciality was TB but again like our Mapsencar doctor, he too was handling patients suffering from any type of sickness including Cancer and thus instead of curing the patients he was killing them.

In Calangute constituency there are two Private Hospitals where patients of any sickness are admitted even though there are neither competent doctors there nor proper facilities to handle all types of sickness of the patients but they admit in their hospitals any type of patient.  Finally when they realize that they are unable to cure the patients, they either shift those patients to GMC at the last minute or silently allow the patients to die in their own hospitals.  Even the patients they shift to GMC at the last minute do not survive forcing the doctors to ask “Why did you not bring the patients earlier so that appropriate medical treatment could have been provided”.

In government hospitals most of the Nurses are become Curses and most of the Private hospitals are become money making rackets because many of the doctors there are acting like butchers who for the sake of money butcher their conscience and medical ethics by doing things which are not appropriate for their noble profession. These doctors do not care for human life but care only for money in which direction they will do anything because they are so corrupt.  In fact many of them are more corrupt than the corrupt politicians.  In my constituency the two hospitals as indicated above are already named by the people as “Killing Hospitals” because of this Tag patients have started to boycott these hospitals. According to my latest information some constituents of this Constituency are gearing up to campaign against these hospitals thru the printed leaflets which will be distributed in the locality indicating the flaws existing in these hospitals.

The most important tactic some of the money making doctors are making is to instill fear into the minds of the patients and their relatives saying “the sickness is serious and requires immediate operation” costing not only thousands but lakhs of rupees.  For this reason before going for major operation a second opinion must be sought because many of the current doctors are not sincere to their Oath. Many people have lost their trust in the present day doctors.

There are some doctors in private hospitals who by referring their patients to certain hospitals for specialized treatment when it is not necessary, get hefty commission just as corrupt politicians do. Some of the doctors are so corrupt that their corruption is worst than that of corrupt politicians.

In view of above, I feel, the government must enact a legislation to restrict the doctors to handle patients only those who come under their specialization.  Also, one more legislation to prevent private hospitals from admitting patients whose cases are beyond the capacity of those hospitals.
